Jeremy Trueblood Swallows Pride, Mans Up

Of course Jeremy Trueblood is upset with losing his starting gig. Joe can understand that.
But what impresses Joe is Trueblood’s reaction to the demotion.
Rather than stomp his feet and whine constantly to whoever will listen, the former starting right tackle wants just one thing to happen in the next month: playoffs, so he told eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune.
“It’s disappointing, but I’m trying to be a team player first,” Trueblood said Wednesday. “It’s more disappointing than anything else, anger too, but honestly I can’t be that mad. I have a job playing a kid’s game.
“I just want to contribute to wins,” said Trueblood, a potential free agent in 2011. “I don’t like standing on the sidelines. This is when it gets exciting and you’d like to be in there. If I’ve got to be a good team guy and get our defense ready, that’s what I’ve got to do. Things happen and I realize that. James Lee is my friend and I wish him the best. I don’t want him to do bad so I can go back in there … I want him to succeed so the team does well.”
How refreshing is that? Joe has newfound respect for Trueblood, who Joe always liked, the brainfart penalties he was usually guilty of notwithstanding.
With this kind of a team attitude, Joe would love to see Trueblood stick around.

Got a question for you Joe. With his demotion, will Trueblood be able to be signed cheaper, or will he be a hot free agent commodity regardless of the depth chart?

I believe Trueblood has shown enough to get another starting job in the NFL. It is obvious the coaching staff likes Lee better at RT. Since Trueblood doesn’t play guard, I’m sure he will want to move on to try and get a starting position. Class guy, wish him the best if he moves to another team

He will be another player who cant start here but will flourish somewhere else where they have coaches who can get the best out a player….Russ Hochstien couldnt crack the line up here STARTED for New England!!!

i always loved his mean additude but it never seemed to come out until the play was over. the dumb penalties drive me nuts and he’s just not a good enough o-lineman to overlook those kinds of brain farts.

IF he would take a paycut and be a backup it would be great depth at Tackle. I don’t se it happening though, someone will offer him money to be a starter. I think most teams see a guy who is above average at RT and could be even better if he would stop the penalties. Most coaches always seem to have the attitude that they can fix those things.

woah woah woah. this guy comes out with a “classy” quote about being a second string guy now after starting for a few years and we all fall in love with him all over again? what about the penalties? what about the lack of ability to run block? now we hope he sticks around?
woopdie doo! so he can talk the talk! i’ve never seen this guy walk the walk quite like James Lee can. let this joker walk this offseason. are we in a youth movement or what?

Well Joe, I thought that because he had been a decent starter for several years, there may be some teams very interested in him. I didn’t think it was a stupid question considering the importance of quality OL-men in the league. Merry Christmas!

Joe apologizes. The answer came out harsh though it was not meant to be. Just don’t see teams falling over themselves in a bidding war over a guy who lost his starting job midseason to a relative unknown. Just doesn’t add up.
Would teams be interesting in Trueblood? Of course. Just not sure he would start a bidding war.

Trueblood obviously has a brain or a good agent. He’s trying to maintain value for free agency by talking like a team player.
There are 31 other teams in the NFL. Sabby got signed, what makes you think Trueblood wouldn’t?
It is set in stone that he leaves, considering he lost his starting job. Besides I am absolutely sure he doesn’t want to play for Raheem anymore than he has to. So the guy will walk. As should Ruud and many others this offseason.

Trueblood would get beat so often around the end in pass protection. He seemed to be able to block a little better going forward and he is a big strong guy. My question was is why they haven’t tried him out in Davin’s place at right guard. Many college tackles that are not good enough to play tackle in the NFL often thrive at guard positions. I dunno, just a thought. Lee, True, Zuttah, Whatshisname, and Penn would make fro a pretty big O line. You never know, after riding the pine, Trueblood may explode back onto the scene. He could have a banner game with at least 5 false starts and 2 hands to the face calls.
