Brandon Carter Is Dancing Tonight

November 30th, 2010

Along with ridding themselves of Sabby Piscitelli today, the Bucs made a bunch of other roster moves.

The Bucs ended defensive end Kyle Moore’s season, sending him to injured reserve with his bum shoulder, and they gave roster spots to safety Vince Anderson, wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe and guard Brandon Carter, who were all on the practice squad.  Plus they signed rookie safety Larry Asante off the Browns’ practice squad.

Joe will offer thoughts on those moves later. But for now, Joe is realy happy for the face-painting rookie Carter, who Joe had a long chat with before the NFL Draft. It’s gotta be a great feeling knowing you’ve made a roster and a fat game check is on the way.

Perhaps Carter will be dancing tonight like he does in the video below. Will he be painted up on Sunday?

Note to college men everywhere: never let the girl turn the video camera on you. …After watching this G-rated film, Joe looks forward to Carter’s first touchdown celebration.

  3. El Bravo Says:

I hope he moves better on the field!!!!!!!!

  4. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

I loved it! He seems to have good feet for a big man.

  5. Bob Says:

Isn’t this the guy who, when he played Suh and McCoy didn’t allow a sack? Isn’t he also the guy whom the Bucs asked as to who was better: Suh or McCoy?

Should be interesting to watch him play.

  6. admin Says:

    Joe here,

@Bob – You are correct. That was Joe’s story that Dominik asked him who was better Suh or McCoy. It’s all in the link in the post.

  7. Buc You Says:

I like all the new pickups.

I am starting to like Mark Dom… he doesn’t mess around with roster moves. He’ll go find replacements in a heartbeat.

I don’t think many people are doubting him right now. Lots of people here even wanted him to go get PS guys as replacements he is so good at finding diamonds in the rough.

I dont believe in the phrase diamonds in the rough. The draft is an almost bogus system. More than half of it is hype. the only reason you dont see alot more “steals” is because they dont get the chance to prove themselves. Dominik and raheem have let these kids prove themselves which is every different from what other teams do.

THAT is the LONGEST Touchdown celebration I have ever seen!

You can not believe the sky is blue, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t.

Because every player coming out of college has to make the transition to the NFL, and different players take different amounts of time to do so, a “Diamond in the Rough” refers to an as yet underdeveloped player that unexpectedly turns out to be good…or at least is not a sure thing.

Take our 2 rookie WRs for example.

Mike Williams has developed pretty quick, so from the moment he stepped on the field, the team suspected what they had in him.

Benn, on the other hand, is suspected of being a good player, but he is developing at a slower rate…hence he is a diamond in the rough (provided he later turns out to be really good).

The term refers to the potential of a player to excel, when others did not foresee it.

And, my friend…that happens multiple times every year.

  11. Gavster Says:

When people say diamond in the rough they are referring to Later round picks because later round picks are associated with not being so good. Benn is a 2nd rounder meaning he is not in the rough the 1st 2 rounds of the draft are supposed to be players that will have success at the nfl level(according to anyone i have heard talk about the draft) So in Mike williams case he is THE DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH.

Im not referring to how polished a player is. I am saying that what people call draft steals i think its just giving someone a chance. In a lot of cases there have been lower round choices or undrafted free agents that out peform higher draft picks but they get the short end of the stick. My first point was that i dont credit dominik and raheem with getting draft steals. I credit them with giving younger players a chance.

dancing for 4 mins straight is damn impressive

  13. Pete 422 Says:

Now that Sabby is gone, do we know who is going to play FS? I’d love to see Ronde take a shot at it.

  14. Tristan Berry Says:

    Semantics.

  15. Buc You Says:

Diamond in the rough, exhibit A: L. Blount

He will be our 250 HB beast for years to come, bar none injuries.

Draft Bust/Blunder, exhibit B: That freakin early 6th round Punter!!! lol

However, Mark has since picked up the following:

    1) Defensive End E.J. Wilson was drafted in the 4th round by Seattle this past spring

    2) Larry Asante a 5th round pick by the Browns this past April

    and 3) Dezmon Briscoe a 2010 6th round pick

So I forgive him now for the punter and the trade of a 5th rounder for Benn.

  16. Buc You Says:

Basically he added a 4th, 5th, and 6th round draft pick through pick ups.

    Not too sabby!

  17. HIRE GREG OLSON! Says:

No one had a better draft than the Bucs in 2010.

    Thanks, Dom

  18. passthebuc Says:

I will bet this spells the end of Trublood. With lee doing a good job and the offensive line doing better I think it will be established that Trublood was a weak link and like Sabby, history.

  19. aldo Says:

the NFL 2010 draft for the bucs was this…. (i will not mention bowden)

Gerald McCoy, Brina Price, Arrelious Benn, Myron Lewis, Mike Williams, LeGarrette Blount, Cody Grimm, Dekoda Watson, Erik Lorig, Larry Asante, EJ Wilson, Brandon Carter, Ted Larsen, Robert Malone, Derek Hardman, Al Woods, Dezmon Briscoe, Preston Parker…….

man if that was the deepest draft in years and we got all this…. how can not be hopefull for years to come??? look, this team with hard work will be damn nasty, if u can get the best of this guys quickly, we will just need a damn powerful DE (well maybe 2), an elite RB (speedster) and a MLB (but i stand than dekoda watson can fill that position) , i will not be surprised if the bucs make a trade up in the NFL draft with too many youngsters on the team.

  20. Buc You Says:

They need more linebackers like Pittsburg.

  21. Gavster Says:

Mark dominik is already one of the best GMs in football. I love how they give these young player chances its awesome. I just want a MLB. The DES look so much better that if they continue like this i dont think DE will be the biggest priority. If this team wins 9 games+ Dominik has to get executive of the year right?

  22. TrueBlue Says:

Dom has had several ‘steals’. Anytime you snatch a player off another teams practice squad and he turns into a productive player for your team, that’s a steal.

  23. Buc You Says:

The guy dancing must have smoked what TJax was toking on.

  24. BamBamBuc Says:

    Buc You,

Don’t forget Al Woods, a 4th round pick of the Saints that’s been playing pretty well in limited time this year as well.

  25. adam from ny Says:

some guys will do anythnig for a piece of ass….adam from ny

  26. Buc You Says:

    And Al Woods.

Nice job by Mark… All because these guys get released doesnt mean they were given a fair shake, doesnt mean they are damaged goods.

These guys can very well make solid back ups if not start.

  27. oar Says:

Brandon I think you miss understood the girl, when she said, “let’s make a sex tape!”
BTW Betcha he watches dancing with the stars! LOL!

  28. RustyRhino Says:

    @ BUC YOU
Basically he added a 4th, 5th, and 6th round draft pick through pick ups.

    Not too sabby!

Not too sabby!!! very very funny!!
