Ravens 17, Bucs 10
November 28th, 2010Joe hopes the Bucs are good and sick over this loss, a game that was in reach, one that would have shocked the NFL world.
A dropped touchdown by Kellen Winslow and a crap call pass interference by the zebras stuck them in a hole they couldn’t dig out of. Micheal Spurlock sure didn’t help dropping a touchdown that would have given the Bucs more time to mount a comeback.
But there were the Bucs clamping down for another second-half shutout on the road against a team many consider a Super Bowl caliber club. The run defense showed up again and so did the pass rush.
The Bucs’ playcalling made Joe pull his hair out over and over, but they were able to flick a switch late against one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Surely the Bucs have more than enough to win three more games against crap teams like Washington, Seattle and Detroit still to play — and to beat Atlanta at home — but that doesn’t make this one feel any better.
Much more to come all through the night. Come back often to JoeBucsFan.com.

O line really hurt us
November 28th, 2010 at 8:23 pm
This one hurts because never in a million years did I expect the Bucs to win — till the need of the first quarter when it was still all 0s. Then I started to believe and …. Ouch.
I didn’t hate those long passes on third and short, by the way. Each of them were near completions that could have made it a different game.

another pathetic game called by greg olsen 1st half on a couple of 3rd and 2 he calls hail mary then the 2nd half your team is down 14 and he lets the playclock tick to 1 every play like he is running the clock out on the other team then finally with 5 min left he decided to go to hurry up i hope he is gone after this year

O-LINE SCREWED THE POOCH
November 28th, 2010 at 8:25 pm
I need an update on Joseph and Grimm.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:26 pm
Hard loss. Billick had it right from the middle of the third quarter. Enough with the bubble screens. Let Freeman open it up. Defense played well. Ravens can be thrown on (upon?). We played this game like SF, but Baltimore is not SF.

Greg Olsen gets a big fat F for this one
I’m telling you, even though we lost this game, people need to look at this game closely and give us some credit. It’s not like they completed killed us. We kept it competitive the whole game. Our defense shut them out in the first half, and we put up a good fight.
People just seem to bring up the Pittsburgh and New Orleans games but they of course leave out the Atlanta and Baltimore games. Games in which we were competitive!

*second half i meant
November 28th, 2010 at 8:27 pm
I doubt it highly that grim returns this year with Broken Ankle Davin I hear has turf toe
November 28th, 2010 at 8:28 pm
olsen called a crappy game and our guys had STONE HANDS
November 28th, 2010 at 8:28 pm
Joe I gotta disagree with you on that 1st TD attempt to Winslow, the ball was tipped. You’re making it sound like it was a perfect pass right in his hands and he dropped it. C’mon man!
November 28th, 2010 at 8:32 pm
I think Freeman is counterintuitive, and I don’t think Olson understands that. He’s not a guy who needs hand-holding. Spread the D and let him make plays. With a young QB, usually you want to get his confidence up. Give him the short, little passes. Freeman needs to open it up. That’s why he’s so good in the 4th. Coincidentally, that’s also Baltimore’s weakness. Sigh.

I need to watch this game again. Cody Grimm was a big loss, especially watching us get lit up with Sabbumb in the game. Wow. A lot of questionable play calls. I think the cold weather affected Freeman and the receivers. Too many drops and routes appeared to run wrong. Benn had a bad game. Spurlock was tentative on returns and it looked like the Bucs were psyched out before the game began. The last punt by the Bucs at 4’th and 2, he should have gone for it and that whole series was terribly called by Olie.
Are we back to Fire Greg Olsen yet? Inquiring minds want to know. I think 99% of us had this game down as a loss at the start of the season, but it would have been nice. Regroup and beat the Dirty Birds.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:33 pm
The one to Spurlock was also a very tough catch over the wrong shoulder.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:33 pm
I was much more upset about the Spurlock drop than the Winslow drop. That said…TWO drops that would have been game changers.
Our Bucs were in this game the whole time. IF they had opened up a littl earlier, could have been a win.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:35 pm
We had it.
This is NOT a moral victory.
All that said, it was awesome seeing 93 wreaking havoc out there.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:36 pm
Joe here,
Don’t think you’ll see the first one to Winslow tipped on replay. Looked at it a couple of times.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:36 pm
any chance at the division title?
what’s the playoff picture right now?
November 28th, 2010 at 8:37 pm
I hate losing and hate listening to more of “They can’t beat teams with winning records”. I’m so sick of that. I’ll be at the ATL game and it’s low profile until then. Again, I hate losing.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:45 pm
We had plenty of chances all game. Freeman was off on most of his throws and simply did not play very well. The loss falls squarely on his shoulders.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:46 pm
Yes, two dropped balls, waiting too long to open up the offense that exposed the Raven defense. Those things going our way, we could have won the game, but we didn’t. Being up early on the K2 drop would have been huge.
All that said, I was thrilled to see our run defense pick up where they left off. Solid against the run, and 4 sacks along with pressure on the QB.
I see a win against Atlanta at home next week. I actually can see us running the table down to the last game against the Saints.
November 28th, 2010 at 8:51 pm
It really sucked losing Cody Grimm but the loss doesn’t really upset me. Seeing that the turnaround on defense wasn’t a one game fluke leaves me feeling really excited even with the loss. The light has come on for Gerald McCoy. I think after 10 sacks in 2 weeks its safe to say we should all stop calling for Todd Wash’s head now. Its pretty clear at this point that lack of experience was much more responsible for the d-line struggles than coaching. It took longer than people expected but those expectations were probably never realistic. I’m starting to wonder just how scary this d-line will be when it gets Brian Price back next year and he hits his stride. Well thats one more talking point that the heem haters crew can’t fall back on now that the D has turned the corner. What will they say if the Bucs beat Atlanta? Then they will no longer have the can’t beat a winning team. Something tells me they will find some new b.s. excuse to keep hating on Raheem.
November 28th, 2010 at 9:05 pm
Busted coverage play and a HORRIBLE PI call.
Two plays that killed the Bucs.
November 28th, 2010 at 9:05 pm
Ask yourself this:
Were you that impressed by Baltimore?
I wasn’t. This is supposed to be one of the best teams in the NFL?
I don’t see it.
November 28th, 2010 at 9:33 pm
Snook-Flacco was solid. He killed us with his passing. We shut down the run but he found a way to beat us thru the air. That’s what good teams do,they take whatever the defense gives them.
November 28th, 2010 at 9:41 pm
@ Snook
Agreed. Baltimore never really dominated that game. I saw a lot of weaknesses in that team.
Our defense did a great job in shutting them out in the second half, but we just couldn’t take advantage on offense when we had the chance.
November 28th, 2010 at 10:07 pm
Think the biggest mistake was not putting the ball in Freeman’s hands sooner, and letting him win the game . We waited until 7:00 minutes left. Should have done so in mid third quarter. Tim Ryan in the Booth called it. If that would have happen, think we may have won today
November 28th, 2010 at 10:19 pm
Snook, I attribute some of that to the Bucs being able to hang with a top team. The offense didn’t have their “A” game, but we still hung in there.
November 28th, 2010 at 10:25 pm
I think Mike Williams was totally forgotten about today. The guy has made a couple big plays every game for us and should be the 1st option imo…..dont know why he wasn’t thrown at more.
This was a very frustrating game….I thought we could have beaten this team.
November 28th, 2010 at 11:30 pm
Sabby starting in orange. How appropriate.
November 29th, 2010 at 2:18 am
Squad: Mike was double teamed all game, they had Reed hovering around him on almost ever play and I think Free just wanted to keep Reed out of the game.
Don’t expect that to continue….
Why the hell did we throw 2 times over the middle and not try a jump ball to Mike like last week??? The guy is gonna out jump any 5’10” corner and if you get it up quick enough a safety can come help…. Better chance to complete that then throwing where Reed and Lewis are at !!!!
November 29th, 2010 at 4:13 am
Losing Grimm is huge. Will cost us games having Sabby Start.
