Quincy Black Will Return
November 26th, 2010Joe’s not quite sure how much the Bucs missed Quincy Black when he was out of the starting lineup for two weeks with an ankle injury, but they’ll likely find out Sunday in Baltimore.
Black practiced Wednesday and Thursday and he’s expected back starting after Adam Hayward and Dekoda Watson filled his role. On their watch the Bucs’ run defense showed up last week and nobody seemed to be crying for Black when he was gone.
Regardless, Black is probably better than his replacements. And at this point he might be playing for a job here next season.

This is a case where you have to put your faith in the coach, he has shown that he will play the best player period….See Lee over Trueblood.
In Raheem we trust..;)

I thought Adam played well…

Maybe Adam or Dekota can fill in/replace Ruudy

“Regardless, Black is probably better than his replacements.” That’s a baseless statement. Hayward and Watson flashed more playmaking ability in 2 games than Black has in 2 years. And don’t give me the experience factor. Hayward has been here since 2007.

gitarlvr,
Steve White expressed the same opinion. Still want to call it baseless?

Heyward and Watson did show more than Black . No doubt about it Hayes has out played Black. Hayes had another Force Fumble. Bottom line Black blitzs alot in the last two years and he has 2 sacks for his carrer

I was at the 9er game, and it was obvious that Hayward and Watson should have the opportunity to play MORE SLB snaps during a game. When they weren’t in the backfield, they were near the ball, and that’s in both the 4-3 & 3-3-5 alignments.
Now I don’t know if that’s because of Hayward and Watson’s better play or the reflection of the improved play of the D-line. But going into the Ravens game, the chemistry that we have with the current d-line rotation and LB core (minus Black) shouldn’t change, unless the front seven start sucking again.

the good thing now is black knows there are two guys in his rearview that are ready to steal his job if he doesnt step. this is a good problem to have for the bucs. seems there might be some lb depth after all.

Geno Hayes caused two great turnovers with ferocious hits he sticks his head in there and puts on the bigboy pads. I hope he and Dakota Watson continue to show and prove as Seminoles we come up big when we have too.

I see Black with a big game Sunday. He now has something to prove.

@FGO- yes. I don’t think Steve White is some kind of infallible god of football knowledge like some people do. He’s a former player so what? Ian Beckles is too and people think he’s an idiot because they don’t like his opinion. Just because Steve White talks about x’ and o’s on his blog doesn’t make his opinion gospel. I like to read his blog but I’ll respectfully disagree. Quincy Black never makes any impact plays. Hayward and Watson have made plenty of big tackles and have been getting their names called in the 2 1/2 weeks since Black went down. Its pretty obvious how little impact Quincy Black has had on this defense.

I also hope that Kyle Moore remains on the bench in favor of Alex Magee. Your not going to tell me that a team has its best defensive game of the year BY FAR, with quality starters on the sideline. That tells me that guys like Kyle Moore and Quincy Black, who missed the game aren’t quality starters. It’s no coincidence, in my opinion, that the Bucs looked like a TOTALLY different defense with Magee, Woods, Hayward, and Watson on the field in favor of Moore, Sims, and Black. This is not some long term starter just going through a little slump who does’nt deserve to lose his job to injury. Its a guy who did nothing to earn a starting job but was handed one on a silver platter because of the veteran purge. As far as I am concerned one or two games of good play from the backup is all it should take to send a guy like that back to the bench where he belongs.

Raheem said Black would start but that heyward and watson will get PT because they earned it. Raheem likes black to blitz and thats why he will stay with it because he is confident it will work.

Hasn’t so far!

I think what Gavster might be getting at is that maybe Raheem is going too use Hayward/Watson on run downs and Black on passing downs.
This game could also be a way of allowing somebody to take the job. If someone is lights out when he is out there, they might just leave him out there.
I’ve always been curious as to how well Hayward would do at MLB?

One weapon that Quincy Black has is speed. He is extremely fast.
