Gerald McCoy “Dominating”
November 24th, 2010Seems as though “The Professor,” John Clayton, is smitten with a certain Bucs rookie defensive tackle who Clayton referred to as “dominating.” Joe strongly encourages his readers to watch this BSPN video as Joe is confident Bucs fans will be more than a little interested in what comes out of Clayton’s mouth.

I love Clayton, but “Gerard McCoy”?
Come on, man

I hope GERALD McCoy keeps up the dominating play.
Clayton looks like the guy who nobody wanted in pick up football as a kid. “Oh OK, well, take him, c’mon John.”

That’s more than once he’s said “Gerard”…

4-3 or 3-4 cmon, our base defense is going to stay 4-3, the 3-3-3-5 is effectively becoming our “prevent” or 3rd – and impossible defense.
We finally used it correctly against San Fran and I think we got at least one Sack out of it.

rofl “GERARD” McCoy. He stole David’s last name

This is why it’s so much smarter to listen to guys like Shaun King and Steve White. They really do watch, and they really do know so much more than the national guys. I love the national love, but I don’t love the ignorance.

@ Kyle….
umm, its going to be pretty hard for the 3-3-3-5 defense to be effective….we would get flagged for too many men every time 😛

The main problem with the 3-3-3-5 is all the penalties that come with such a formation. 14 is a lot of players on the field.

This guy has no idea what’s going on with the Bucs

“Regardless, they’re a good defense” hahahahaha

I’ve been suggesting that Rah wants to have a hybrid defense that runs the 3-4 and 3-3-5 just as much, if not more, than the 4-3. I think if you pay attention to moves being made and players being signed…it’s becoming fairly obvious now. The days of the ol’ 4-3 T2 are gone. We run that defense maybe 50% of the time right now, and I believe next year you’ll see it even less.

I saw McCoy get better after we picked up the Kansas City D Lineman. Now that Tampa has sent Ryan Sims home for the season, I think he will get even better.

@jdouble- I don’t have a problem with that theory. However, if that is really the intention the Bucs absolutely must sign Lamarr Woodley in the offseason. They can’t be effective at that kind of defense without a premiere pass rushing linebacker.

Gitarlvr-agree a priemer would be nice, but we are a 7-3 right now without one. Really we play a 3-3-5 alot, which is really different.

There’s a reason Clayton is called the “professor”. He has no clue what he is talking about. When it comes to football. He needs to go back to stocking books on shelves. What a tool.
