Giants Embrace Blocking Icon Michael Clayton
November 23rd, 2010In stunned disbelief, Joe had to call WFAN-AM in New York himself to confirm the news that former Bucs blocking icon Michael Clayton is now a member of the New York football Giants.
Injuries had the Giants looking for guys on the street who could allegedly catch the ball, and Big Blue apparently was duped by the notorious practice warrior Clayton, who was toiling in the UFL earlier this season after the Bucs gave him a highly paid vacation.
Kudos to the hard-working Clayton, a very wealthy man courtesy of Mark Dominik. Clayton surely could have given up on his dream, but instead he worked his butt off to stay in shape and impressed the Giants in a workout.
For Clayton’s sake, Joe hopes he doesn’t drop passes in front of Giants fans. If he does, Joe advises Clayton to thicken his skin and keep the radio off.

Clayton is a great guy so I hope he goes up there and has a wonderful season.

I agree Dew…I hope he is able to salvage his career with a fresh start with a new team.

As long as he’s not in Pewter and Red, I wish him the best of luck. I’d love to see him resurect his career in NY. Glad to see him get a shot.

Maybe he can be Coughlin’s driver as they both get chased out.

If he does drop balls there, he will still find a way to put it on Gruden.

Joe, how does this affect the Bucs salary-wise? Do we get out of paying him monies owed? Or is what the Giants pay him deducted from it?
November 23rd, 2010 at 7:23 pm
Wouldn’t it be ironic if that’s the job Gruden took?

Well while were on the subject of Ex Bucs, say goodbye to another fan favorite in Ryan Simms. The team has been so happy with Woods that they cut there ties with this major slug. And the youngest team just got way younger. Keep up the great work Mark

Sims cut? Truthfully I thought this would have happened before the season started. It’s a good move, even if Woods does not work out.
What is our current roster count? Weren’t we down a man already?

Congrats on Clayton finding a new team. Hopefully he can find a long term home in New York.
Joe, this is a little off topic, but what do you think is the reason for Cadillac’s more productive play the last two games. Do you think it’s a fluke or is he really a different player than he was the first 8 games? As the backup to Blount, he’s blasted off quite a few key runs for us.

Just FYI, Omaha Nighthawks never won another game this season after they signed Clayton. Just sayin’.

He’s going to a team that we’re fighting for a playoff spot.I hope he sucks just like he did when he played here.Nice guy or not he’s playing for the wrong team and could potentially keep us from making the playoffs.
November 23rd, 2010 at 10:38 pm
Michael will drop a clutch pass that keeps the Giants out of the playoffs. He may not single handedly keep them out, but he should play a pivotal role in their demise. Way to go Clayhands. Who loves yuh baby?
November 23rd, 2010 at 11:36 pm
“Clayhands” can help block for the giants running game, work special teams punt coverage. I’m sure he be real comfortable with an easy going Tom Coughlin. Coughlin is like Chucky at 70yrs old. He cried about Chucky being harsh.
He’ll resurrect his blocking icon status.

Clayton was Jinxed here in Tampa. I bet he will do just fine in NY. I wish him all the luck in the world. It just was not meant to be for him to be in Tampa.
