Kurt Warner Needs A New Career

November 21st, 2010

Joe feels compelled to call Kurt Warner one of the worst color analysts in the history of the NFL.

Goodness, the guy was completely monotone today, called the Bucs offense boring and unimaginative numerous times, and it seemed like he hadn’t done his homework on the Bucs’ roster.

Before the game on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Bucs insider TJ Rives said Warner approached him at Candlestick Park today and asked him why the Bucs are scoring so many points.

Joe nearly drove off the road.

Why would Warner ask Rives such a question?

Did Warner not watch game film of the Bucs’ last few games before collecting a fat check from FOX to call today’s action?

After today’s performance, Joe’s especially glad Derrick Brooks stepped out of his politically correct persona to speak out on the radio last week to blast whoever ranked Warner ahead of Brooks on the top-100 players of all-time.

Agree 100 not only him Jm Mora during the Rams game was so critical of the bucs you would have thought a Mora was a hall of fame coach. Same goes for Rich Gannon too

  2. Hunter Says:

Rodney Harrison just gave the Buccaneers a shout-out and said there’s no doubt Raheem Morris should be coach of the year at this point.

  3. Leroy Buttermilk Says:

what did Brooks have to say? Warner did make the game sound like a colonoscopy on a hippo. How do I get Gene and Dave Moore’s broadcast online it wasn’t broadcasted on us103.5

Yeah I prefer Billick. He likes to drop a lot of allusions to his super bowl and the ravens, but hey who can blame him. At least he actually talks football. These two clowns sounded like the local SF crew working a pre-season game.

Great game. That defense came up nasty for once. We’re poised to do some big things. No matter what happens, the NFL and all the naysayers know that the Bucs are on their way back to the top.

Game Ball to the entire D… SF didn’t even get in field goal range.

  5. Leroy Buttermilk Says:

Great point Greg Olsen 6 sacks and a pick all the goo gobblers picked the Buccaneers 2 lose fire dem Cannons

  6. chargedcbh Says:

I think we win a game of attrition. We’ll give up a lot of yards on the ground but will make the key plays at the crucial moments on D, along with a young Niners offense that will commit a lot of penalties. This should be one of those games that we should win because we have the better QB.

MW makes up for his thoughtlessness with a big day.

I’m going out on a limb and changing the name. Don’t let me down, Greg.

    HGO: Awesome.
Buttermilk: the hippo colonoscopy comment was awesome.
    The win: Awesome

Yeah I did a double take when Kurt Warner announced that the Bucs did not have an explosive offense. Why must the NFL always use former players as color commentators? There are select few guys who are good at pointing out the X’ s and O’s of the game to help the viewer become a more knowledgeable fan, but too many of these guys seem to know less about whats going on in these games then the average fan. It makes me wonder how Kurt Warner was ever able to be a good QB because he doesn’t seem like the sharpest tool in the shed to me. These guys are supposed to be professionals. Why aren’t they required to watch some recent games of the teams they will be covering during the weeking lead up to the game? Its clear Kurt Warner probably hasn’t seen the Bucs play this season. Probably not even against Arizona. It’s a shame that players get these analyst jobs based purely on their fame whether or not they have the slightest bit of talent.

  10. Leighroy Says:

Freeman did look confused a lot today tho and he did not play a great game. I’ll give Warner that. We still take too many time outs to avoid delay of game. How many was it today anyone happen to count?

I knew it was gunna be a disaster from Warner tho when he gave his pre-game schpiel (which was incoherent at best) and then cocked that smart little smile of his into the camera. Screw him.

  11. MOBucs Says:

Warner was totally in the tank for San Francisco for the entire game. He gave no credit to Bucs at all! Stay on the dance floor Kurt! You suck!

  12. Leroy Buttermilk Says:

Hey Kurt God loves you and I hate to break the news to you but He’s also a Buccaneers fan No rain 2day as forecasted 30 years since Tampa has won in Frisco and 33 years since last time niners were shut out.Have a safe flight back to funkytown Disco Duck

  13. Brad Says:

He sucked out load and has no clue how good the Bucs, Offense, or Freeman is.. The punk Smith from San Fran wins two games and he acted like they had a better offense than us.. We have a player every week on offense making plays of the week. This guy obviously has not seen a single game of the Bucs. Go home to your canary (wife) and leave announcing to the pros.

  14. Mr. Lucky Says:

Warner was right that at times Freeman DID look confused as did someof the other Bucs on offense.

As for doing his homework – Kurt was too busy dancing with the Stars. He’s got name recognition but to be honest color commentary is NOT his gift.

Fox won’t pick him up next year

  15. Patrick Says:

From the way things are looking, I think we’ll be having a monday night game next year! Hopefully Gruden will be there to call it. Man that’d be weird watching that.

  16. Eric S Says:

I am curious. Warner was killing the offense, then why did he ask Rives about the offense scoring so many points? It seems like he would be asking Rives why they aren’t scoring so many points. That question makes no sense.

He was all right. I thought it was deadly him teaming with Chris Myers. I don’t think Myers is a great play by play guy. I look forward to the Bucs getting better announcers for their games. But I am not a fan at all of Troy Aikman as a color man, so I am screwed either way.

  17. FIREdemcannons Says:

ya, kurt warner…. brutal. he was paid by the 9ers today im sure.. speakin of bein confused, how about almost every NFL analyst? including (god bless him) warren sapp!! pickin the 49ers.. shameful. i dont know what its gonna take for people to pay attention to the most overachieving team in the league. maybe a win in baltimore?

  18. D-Rome Says:

In defense of Warner I’m pretty sure this was his first game as a color commentator….I think. Like with any job it takes time and experience to become good at something. Sometimes people think that analyzing means criticizing. I remember when Bill Walton started his career as a color commentator he was terrible but later on he became really good.

Color commentating is a skill like anything else.

  19. KenBuc Says:

Theisman, Mora and Warner. The Three Stooges of color analysts.
