Josh Freeman = Clutch

As everyone who is a regular reader of Joe knows, Joe’s a man. Therefore, Joe watches the NFL Network. Daily.
Occasionally on the NFL Network they talk about the clutch quarterbacks of all time. Roger Staubach, Joe Montana, Kenny Stabler are just a few of the names discussed as clutch NFL signal-callers.
Could Josh Freeman be the next on that list?
The Bucs were losing against Cleveland but Freeman marched the Bucs in a fourth quarter rally for the season-opening win.
The Bucs were losing against Cincinnati. Down 10 points in the fourth quarter in fact. But Freeman gets the job done with a key touchdown pass to Mike Williams and a clutch pass to Michael Spurlock to set up the winning field goal.
Then came today. The Bucs were listless. Penalty-plagued. Hurt. Tired. But not Freeman.
Fourth quarter. Down five. Less than five minutes left. Ball at the Bucs-18.
Freeman, cool as a Gulf breeze as usual, engineers a 16-play drive before hitting Cadillac Williams for the winning score.
Ballgame. 4-2.
Now Joe’s not crazy enough to put Freeman in the class of Staubach, Montana or Stabler. But if the Bucs need a touchdown in the fourth quarter, even for a win, Joe’s comfortable seeing No. 5 with the ball in his hands.

Now won’t it be nice if they start giving Blount the ball from play one and Josh Freeman doesn’t always have to go on desperation fourth quarter TD drives.

With Blount in the game, it opened them up for passes. Josh was awesome, when it counted.

lol…. yeah, that would be nice. I’m sure you’ll see that happen next week. Blount seems to have some real burst as well. Not that he’s a speed burner, but he is pretty quick for his size and gets up to (his) speed very fast.
Oh, and in regards to the other thread… no problem, gitarlvr. I’m not one to just throw expletives out there when I disagree. I’ll make an argument and do my best to back it up with facts.

I like the direction the Buc’s are going, if we can continue to build this young team the way they have been, Josh Freeman is going to be a great quarterback and lead the team to great things in the future.

That Josh Freeman is really good. Not sure how Rah is doing it, but hey 4 dash 2 shuts a lot of folks up (including me).
Nice work. His team never quits, gotta give em that.

I honestly do not see how Josh is doing it. If I were in there and the Offensive Line screwed up so many good plays, I’d be tempted to start punching them.
But he just keeps plugging away, patient waiting for his teammates to stop screwing up and make plays.
Last year, I think it was Raheem that kept the team from giving up…now this year I think it’s Josh Freeman.

The ability to win is in some ways inert. Brady, Favre, manning, etc.
This kid has a chance to move into that kind of company.
Who in the league do you want on the last drive? Josh has to be moving up that list pretty fast.

Freeman is just a joy to watch develop man. I just watched his postgame press conference and its so clear just from hearing him talk that he is one of those Qb’s that gets the mental part of the game. And he speaks like a veteran leader already not a second year guy. Josh Freeman is the leader of this team right now. Im starting to think that when Freeman and his recievers hit their prime that this guy will be scary good. Really everyone should watch the video of his post game comments. He talks like a man who has it all under control.

And just to add to my last comment, here we are after six games and still only 3 picks. He’s already learned the most important lesson a QB can learn. Don’t turn the ball over!! There are some guys that are considered better than Freeman right now that still haven’t learned that lesson and probably never will. Here’s lookin at you Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler.
