Saints 31, Bucs 6

This was a beat down by the Saints. If today’s loss shows anything, it demonstrated the Bucs can take care of themselves against average or below average teams. Elite teams like the defending champs or perhaps the best team in the AFC (Pittsburgh), well, there’s some work to do. Maybe a lot.

The running game, which was dicey at best, is now thin. It doesn’t look like Kareem Huggins may be back soon after an ugly right knee injury. Earnest Graham has a hamstring injury and those things will nag at an athlete for weeks, maybe months.

Please check in early and often with Joe. He’ll have more later.

    Some work to be done!!!!

    This loss was HUMILIATING

Nothing worked for the Bucs today – NOTHING!

Offense – terrible, Defense – terrible, Field Goal kicker – terrible.

Maybe the Bucs were just sick of all the Kool-Aid they’ve been drinking from the fans?

  2. josh Says:

awful, but look at our next two games, Saint Louis and arizona. I dont care what you guys say but these are teams we can beat

  3. Buc You Says:

St Louis is throwing the ball all over the field racking up a whole lotta yards. Don’t be so sure about St Louis.

Question, when St Louis wins, will Raheem be on the hot seat?

  4. Buc You Says:

St Louis and Arizona will be over dogs against the Bucs. They already have better stats than us with the same record. Bucs ranked lower in run defense of course, giving up 5 yards per carry!

  5. Mr. Lucky Says:

The way the Bucs played today hell even the Florida Gators (as pitiful as this year is) could beat the Bucs.

Today the house of cards came tumbling down – the Emperor has no clothes.

McCoy – was he even on the field today?

Price – was HE even on the field today?

  6. Blackmagic00 Says:

It was ugly but I think we are close. Freeman is so fun to watch, he is our brightest spot and the hardest spot to fill as well. Running back and defensive end are our biggest problem. Also Ruud should be part of our youth movement. I really want to see Blount in there at least some of the time, Caddy is not much of a force. I would love to see EG and Blount in together. Punishing run after punishing run. Then a little Caddy. And what the heck is with our kicker? Maybe we should vote to widen uprights? Lol. Anyway till next week.

Looks like to me Tampa is just plain getting out coached ?
Or was our draft really this bad ? We can’t sack the QB, we can’t defend the run against average running backs, and our secondary keeps getting beat. I am sick of going to Tampa home games and seeing us humiliated, in our own stadium. Goodbye Raheem, and take the rest of your 1/2 baked coaches with you. Every Tampa fan I talked to at the game was sick of the Glazers cheapness. Give us a big time coach/front office, or you are gonna have an empty Stadium. 2 Home ass whippings in a row gets old real quick to us Tampa fans used to a real defense. A Fish stinks from the head down, so let’s start there.
Rebuilding assumes the people rebuilding KNOW how to rebuild. I have seen enough of this crap, and so has every Tampa Fan I talked to at the game!

  8. Buc You Says:

Rah’s a nice guy, but he is a terrible NFL coach.

Mark Domminck has done a good job at getting some players, I still like some of the young guys. I like Freeman for now.

But Raheem mishandling the games is killing us.

STILL using Caddy when they have Blount (de-activated, SMART MOVE!)

STILL giving up 5 yards a carry, an NFL worst.

STILL having guys out of position on more plays than not.

Although, credit does go to Raheem for putting 12 men on the field, TWICE in the same drive. 🙂 Nice one Rah!

  9. TJ Says:

as many as Talib int he just gives as many up he lacks focus they even said it on TV same thing happen last week against TO

You’re overreacting. This loss isn’t indicative of some flaw in the system. We came up against a more experienced Super Bowl contender of an opponent with an axe to grind (last year’s defeat) who took it to us. As Joe said, we come back tomorrow, look at what we did wrong and move on.

  11. Buc You Says:

One final comment as i head out for the day.

    @ NonSensableBucsfan

” This loss isn’t indicative of some flaw in the system. ”

What? Way to protect Raheem Morris.

Maybe it was the two blues brothers playing in the secondary (taken from Shaun King)? Or maybe it was Jim Bates of 2009?

But in no way, shape or form was it Raheem Morris’s defense. No, not today. Only on selective occassions.

    Got it!

    Peace.

  12. Patrick Says:

Totally embarrasing! We’ve been manhandled 2 times in a row now playing teams that are actually decent. It’s not the loss that bothers me really. It’s the fact we weren’t even competitive and the fact we looked like the Yucs out there today.

Our line sucks, and our run defense is unbearable to watch. Our run defense should be better than this after investing in two DT’s in the draft. Instead it’s just as bad, if not worse than last year’s. This is what sucks about drafting DT’s high. They don’t do crap in their rookie seasons.

It’s also nice how nobody running backs have career days against us all the time. Chris Ivory for 158 yards?? Oh, and Julius Jones? F.Y.I Jones has sucked during his entire time in the NFL.

In the analysts eyes, we’ll probably be the worst team in the NFL on Sportscenter and NFL Network tonight. I bet you everyone will pick the Rams to beat the Bucs. And don’t take the Rams for granted, they’re a good team right now. They beat the Chargers today.

  13. Pete 422 Says:

Some of you guys sound like you expected us to win this game. It was possible if we defended against the big play & we made a few, but the opposite happened.

Before the season, I was expecting 5-6 wins, but now I can see .500 or maybe better given our schedule. All teams have games like this especially when rebuilding.

  14. Pete 422 Says:

I also don’t like the fact Bucs fans leave the game if things aren’t going well. Stay at the game so the opposing fans don’t outnumber us.

Read my 1st and 2nd comments in this post to see how misguided your attacks are:

Rah was the reason we lost TODAY. There’s no question about that. However, “the Plan” and his defense have not proven to be flawed as of yet. If we continue to lose big to quality teams I’ll change my tune but until then Rah is an up and coming HC and our young talent is something we’re going to be proud of for years to come.

  16. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

sensiblebuc, I have been as optimistic as any Tampa fan, but I have seen enough!
I was at both the Tampa home game losses, drinking beer, and smoking cigarettes with. hundreds of Tampa fans. I echo the “party line” of what most of us fans were saying, We suck, really we do. Even Talib sucks, Grimm sucks, McCoy sucks, and so does Price.
WHERE are the pressures/sacks, and the run stopping ? Where was Tampa’s secondary ?
Where is our “running game”, and our “dominant offensive line” ? I was ashamed to have on a Tampa jersey in our own stadium. The Saints are w/o Bush and still they ran us over, scored at will! How much more humiliation will Tampa Fans have to take before the Glazers end this frugal little experiment.

  17. Pete 422 Says:

Last week the Bucs were going to go on a winning streak.

    Now the sky is falling.

    sigh

  18. sensiblebuc Says:

    @ Apple

I know how you feel. I’m a long suffering Carolina Gamecocks alum. We both know that Tampa fans aren’t the most knowledgeable fans out there. If you felt like we were going to be a juggernaut this year and roll up 10 wins and make the playoffs, then I can understand the way you feel. However, I feel like the diehard fan knew that we were going to take some butt kickings like this this year. Throwing in a new coach & scheme in here at the end of the year isn’t going to speed up the process. In fact, I think we’ll regress.

  19. Phil a '76 Buc Says:

    Last three games:
Manhandled by Pitt = big loss
Manhandled by Cincy = very lucky win but same problems on both sides of the ball
Manhandled by N.O. = big loss

This is a constant, the O line can’t block, the D line can’t fight off blocks or generate pressure. If this is not fixed pronto it will be last season in reverse All the wins early and all the losses late)

  20. The D Says:

You guys are out of your minds! God this is why I DESPISE Tampa fans. It was one game against the superbowl champs. We are not great yet because we are young and really showed it today. All of you screaming for Rah’s head need to chill. Most people predicted .500 or so for the season, so we have to lose at some point.

  21. Phil a '76 Buc Says:

Rahim must be held accountable for the poor line play on both sides of the ball. He has played the “youth” card ad nauseam . You picked this team, if those guys are so good, their poor level of play must be due to ineffective schemes and coaching!

It put up time for Rahim and his posse.

  22. northernbucsfan Says:

People, settle down a little, this team needs 1 more draft. The defensive ends are no good, running backs are not either. Also need middle linebacker that can control line of scrimage. They are close. The saints are the defending champions! They are better now. Bucs are rebuilding, be realistic! 6-8 wins is much improved from last year. And Raheem would and should get another draft to add more youth. Get a grip. Are you fans or just haters?

  23. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @The D,

Great post, I couldn’t agree more. Before the season started, if we told everyone we would be 3-2, they would have all taken it. But we lose to two teams that could very well play in the Super Bowl, and the sky is falling.

  24. Pete 422 Says:

I agree with The D. C’mon you guys, we are on the right track, it just takes time. I remember back in Buffalo when the Bills only won 4 games in Jim Kelly’s second year. More experience and supporting cast. It will come.

  25. Jerry Says:

You’d expect the team to at least be competitive. This team is regressing every week as far as the run defense is concerned. Go look at the stats…they are getting worse with each week.

  26. eric Says:

2-9 at home since the honorable Rah took over.

outcorred 69-19 combined last two home games.

We all owe an apology to Jim Bates. Rah’s Tampa 2.5 aint one bit better.

    Horrific runing game
    Horrific rush defense
    Horrific pass rush

The house of cards has fallen.

  27. Patrick Says:

A guy that should be playing better right now is DT Roy Miller. He doesn’t have that “I’m a rookie” excuse anymore. He’s in his second year and he should be showing his good stuff by now.

  28. Capt.Tim Says:

Well, one good thing about losing, at least Eric crawled out from under the rock to post again, and Mr. Sucky and his girl, bucyourahdomdajavier got to spout moors garbage! Holding Raheem accountable for the O-line( our biggest disappointment) is rediculous, as he didn’t draft any of them, nor has he had time to rebuild the line, as he has rebuilt every ting else, and that was SUPPOSED to be a strenght. The rookies Got tossed around today. Rookies will. Losing to Pittsburgh or New Orleans isn’t a surprise in a rebuilding year. The surprise is that many people that we could win! Still a rebuilding year, still ahead of schedule. Still some obvious weaknesses, but a least some will improve with time. I don’t think our O -line is gonna cut it though. Ni back is gonna gain yardage behind those blocks- nobody! Everyone who is panicking can relax. We ate still ahead of schedule. To the haters who re-emerged- if you don’t have the balls to take your beatings during the weeks we win, don’t come slithering out taking crap after our second loss. You are still wrong, still stupid, and still full of shi*! Stay under yer rock. We are fine without the morons crying
