Team Glazer Has The List

April 24th, 2025

“Look, Glazer, stop asking about the redacted lines.”

The picks are in and Team Glazer has them.

So if you run into a Glazer this morning at Bank of America or McDonald’s or Sport Clips you got a shot at knowing who the Bucs plan to draft this week.

Last month, Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht explained that Team Glazer is not involved in the draft process but is given a pregame program so they can understand the Bucs’ non-moves tonight, tomorrow and Saturday.

“So every year before the draft, you know, my owners are awesome. They don’t look over my shoulder and ask me every day who are we taking or give any input; they trust me,” Licht said. “But I give them a document the day before the draft; ‘these are the players you’re going to see maybe-possibly go very high that we have [rated] low. And these are the reasons why.’ And there’s usually about a dozen of those players. So, it’s kind of interesting.”

Joe shared this before but thought it was worth repeating given how fans will see Team Glazer in draft war room video tonight.

Speaking yesterday on The Rondé Barber Show, a WFLA-TV production, Licht noted how his gratitude for Team Glazer being patient with him. Joe assumed Licht was talking about ownership not firing him after a rocky start to his GM career, but perhaps Licht was talking about how Team Glazer doesn’t pester him leading up to the draft.

Licht also noted there are quite a few players in this year’s draft are ranked highly by other teams but not by his staff.

In the era of NIL and social media, it’s going to be harder and harder to find hard nosed football players who love the game and hate losing.

I think our list of hard working and passionate players will get shorter and shorter every year

Thibodeaux, the 34th pick and 99th overall pick to Tampa Bay in exchange for pick No. 19.

No doubt there’s likely a copy of this sacred document floating around JBF World HQ that you would be willing to share with your loyal readership. Should go without saying that you have our word that none of what you disclose would be shared with anyone else. You know what they say loose lips sink pirate ships. So, mums the word, dog.

  4. geno711 Says:

It is a weak draft. There will not be a steal pick at number 19. We just have to accept that Licht knows which players will fit this team and hopefully while not a franchise type player will be a long term starter.

  5. KABucs Says:

Joe will be posting who they’re absolutely sure based on prior picks that the Bucs will be taking tonight at number one per this sacred “who truly sucks” document that the Glazers have that Joe has most definitely procured by now.

This will be posted around midnight… maybe a little earlier.

That would be a crazy good get for the Bucs. At first I thought not possible — but maybe it is — the Giants wanting to move in front of Pittsburgh (at 21) to pick up Shadeur Sanders.

  7. Marine in Clermont Says:

I agree Geno711 and a good reason to trade back I so trust Jason with an extra 2nd day pick.

  8. BucU Says:

Anybody have an idea of what time we’ll be on the clock tonight?

  9. Mike Says:

The Glazers are like “We only ask one thing Jason, don’t draft a kicker”…

Everyone gets caught up in top-10 flash or the lack of “can’t-miss” prospects, but the league is built just as much by third-round linemen and fifth-round corners who become decade-long starters. Calling a draft “weak” just because it lacks sizzle at the top misses the point—teams win in January with depth, strong line play, and smart roster-building, not highlight-reel names. A.k.a. Shaq Barrett, Zac Baun, Richard Sherman, the obvious Tom Brady….

Expecting a Calvin Johnson-level talent every year is unrealistic. That doesn’t make a draft weak—it just means the stars might look different this time. Maybe it’s offensive linemen, defensive backs, or high-floor players who grow into leadership roles. That’s value, even if it’s not flashy.

Geno711 keeps calling this class weak, but *no one knows* how good it is yet. People forget: Trey Lance went top 3. Brock Purdy went in the 7th. Who looks like the franchise quarterback now?

We won’t know if this is a deep, weak, or historic class for another 10 years. I see 70+ players who could become multi-year starters. That’s not weak—that’s the foundation of winning football. These guys might not be ESPN highlight names, but they could outlast most of the top-20 picks.

It’s all about projection, fit, and development. Long-term value beats draft-day drama. The smartest teams are circling picks 40 to 150. That’s where the real wins happen.

Is there a Calvin Johnson at pick 19? Probably not. But there *is* someone flying under the radar who’ll become a star. Calling a class “weak” before anyone’s played a snap isn’t just lazy—it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how the draft works.

Sorry if that’s harsh, but it’s true. The first round is for TV. Rounds 2 through 7 are where football teams are built—and there are a lot of real football players in this class. Flash-in-the-pan athletes like Travis Hunter? Is he a cornerback? A wide receiver? Neither? Both? All hype, all distraction. He’s *one* player is he “good”. Yes he is and, football is a team sport.

Never trade the farm for one guy—unless he’s a franchise QB.

  11. DungyDance Says:

It would be really fun to see someone start compiling a retrospective review of draft grades from a few years ago to how the players actually turned out. E.g., so-and-so grades our first pick as a C, and then a few years later someone comes back and either says, yeah you were right, or calls the person out as a buffoon. Draft grading right after the pick is a crap shoot, but if we had some data to see who knows what they’re talking about, we could start paying more attention to certain graders while ignoring the buffoons.

  12. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Been thinking for a while now about the trade back if a qb slides. It will make the early draft interesting to watch for us fans of teams that don’t draft early….. like NO, ATL and Carolina

  13. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Geno

Unless Sanders is gonna slide to 34 anyway…

  14. Larrd Says:

The Giants and Browns are the teams most likely to trade up for Shadeur and both have picks at top of the second and top of the third. I do not see much difference between pick 19 and the second and third round guys this year. Throw in Bucs fifth rounder if necessary, but four picks in rounds two and three would be sweet.

    2a Carson Schwesinger
    2b Nick Scourton
    3a Darius Alexander
    3b Sebastian Castro
    4 Denzel Burke
    7 Xavier Restrepo

My auto complete makes spelling the UCLA guy’s name almost impossible.

Josh i Love and agree with your post. Football is a team sport not a 1 pony show. As an NFL FAN AND A BUC 4 LIFE fan, every single player drafted could potentially be a team career playing star. I trust Licht and his draft team to get the “best fit” and continue building this SUPER BOWL 2035-26 WINNING TEAM the absolute perfect fit players to contribute to obtaining ou #3 SUPERBOWL WINNING TEAM completed! LFG GO BUCS!!!

Actually not good value for the Bucs. #19 is worth 278 points.
    #34 175 points + #99 36 points = 211 total. Bucs lose 61 in that trade

Gaints would need to put in #65 (78 points) & Bucs would swap #157 (10 points)
Bucs would be plus 7 on that trade. Gaints would ask for their 7th round pick too.

  17. SlyPirate Says:

The guy I’m starting to like is Jordan Hancock CB/S Ohio State. He plays every position in the DB. A great 4th or 5th round grab.

  18. Ancient Says:

There’s a real lack of higher education out here, it’s painful and very evident. Often.

    1) Stan @10:10….BECAUSE there’s a player in Thibodeaux involved in the proposed trade ALSO. Which he clearly wrote there.

    2) For those that write long soapbox novels and always opine on that T Mac lazy thing like it’s the next ME13 somehow, cut out the short-sighted long preaching, and research differences accurately in this draft class, especially against hall of famers.

And while @Marques idea was creative, you would then need to pay Thibodeaux (who hasn’t yet done squat for NYG, so if proposing a DE trade, including a new large contract, makes far more sense to pay for PROVEN production. In Trey Hendrickson from Cincy. Age is irrelevant for a Superbowl run. Send our 2nd this year and 4th in 2026.

    Mull it over.

  19. Bucs Guy Says:

I saw something yesterday that said last year the 19th pick occurred around 10:35.

  20. Swissbuc Says:

    Mac McWilliams/Andrew Armstrong/ Shaun Dolac/ Kitan Crawford
I hope we can get one of these guys in the 6th round

  21. Josh Says:

Expressing your opinion might come across as opining from a soapbox, but an ‘ancient’ archive of wisdom is a more fitting analogy for such a perspective. If you’re going to subtly insult me, you’ll have to do better than that—I’m not ‘Ancient.

  22. BA’s Red Pen Says:

I doubt anyone with the last name of Glazer has set foot in any of the establishments mentioned in this article.

  23. Marques Says:

    Strsnglesssman wake up

You forgot Thibodeaux former 5th pick over all. 21 sacks in his first 3 season and is only 24.

If anything this would be a steal of a deal for the bucs . It would be best deal out there by far.

  24. BucsfaninOregon Says:

No trade out of 1st round! These pages are full of the statistics that point out #1 picks stick in the league longer than #2 and in turn have more potential than #3, etc. Grab a guy that that can juice the Bucs this year. Not someone that takes years to see if he makes it. Example is JTS and Btraswell. JTS was a stupid pick. Hope Licht learned his lesson.
