Quashing The Rachaad White Silliness
April 20th, 2025Over and over Joe keeps hearing online and on radio about how some fans and media think the Bucs have Rachaad White on the trade block and there’s a chance he’ll be dealt during the draft.
Joe finds this to be one step shy of ludicrous.
Simply stated: White had 9 touchdowns last season and more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage. He’s a valuable piece of the Tampa Bay roster.
Joe didn’t say “irreplaceable” but White has tangible value and the Bucs savor their depth.
The 2025 season is not White’s to be launched from Tampa. He’s not only affordable as he enters a contract year, White is a team guy and he improved as a runner last season, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. That was more than a half-yard better than his career average.
White isn’t going anywhere, certainly not during this week’s draft. Maybe there’s a slim shot White is dealt before the season if the Bucs get a serious call after an injury at another team, and the Bucs are in love with a late-round rookie running back they draft this week.

Also, if White plays this year and has another productive year, he may sign elsewhere and the Bucs could get a comp pick that would probably have the same round value as what he’d fetch in a trade.

love the comp pick, don’t totally understand the system though

I still think RW has potential as a slot receiver, playing perhaps like the great Lennie Moore as a combo WR/RB.
RW could give CG14 a spell and take the pressure off coming back too quickly.
RW has “utility” written all over him. He’s great in the locker room and a positive guy. Can’t see ANY reason to cut him loose short of somebody making the proverbial “offer too good to refuse”.

Nobody understands the comp pick formula. I think it’s just a Ouija board

Rashad White ain’t going nowhere Tampa Bay likes to have depth add multiple positions and Rashad White blocks the best in the backfield

Idiot writers are just posting clickbait, the ‘rumors’ are ones they’re creating. There is no logical reason to trade White. 1) Free Agent RBs are a dime a dozen… why would a team give up a draft pick? 2) White is on his rookie contract, it’s inexpensive depth at the position. 3) Even if not a starter, White has valuable roles… as a rotational back, as a situational back (obvious passing downs, late game running down the clock, fullback in short yardage, and more). 4) Punt returner. 5) experienced Special teamer. 6) Veteran leadership. No team is going to give up a high draft pick for White. At best, Bucs might get a 7th round pick… that’s at best. I’d rather have White on the roster than a 7 th round pick.

Power of Pewter, couldn’t agree more. White will be wearing red and pewter this year, and if he has another strong season, he’ll be here for many more.
April 20th, 2025 at 11:42 am
This will be his last year as a Buc. He’s been unhappy since Bucky became the starter.

Some of these maroons need to stop assaulting us with “anything that’s stupid” journalism, and just start ingesting massive quantities of drugs. Maybe that’s what they’re already doing.

To get a comp. pick you have to lose more (better) players than you sign.
April 20th, 2025 at 12:37 pm
We need this guy to be placed in a better position to succeed. He needs to be an old fashioned H-back. I am confident that he will be on the field on 3rd down with Godwin to give us one more reliable option.
Additionally, he is valuable in case of an injury.
April 20th, 2025 at 12:51 pm
Joe, I’ll take that step.
It IS ludicrous!
We have a three-headed monster in our RB room.
We don’t need to keep it locked up. And we sure don’t need to cut off one of its heads.
If anything, we need to unleash it!
We need Rachaad and Sean to get a few more snaps this year. We need more plays that have two, or all three of them, on the field at the same time. We need to make opposing defenses wonder if we’re going to throw to Rachaad out of the backfield, or if Bucky or Sean will be running it up the middle.
No doubt, it stung for Rachaad when Bucky took over as #1 RB. But he also knows he’s in a contract year, and whether he wants to stay or play elsewhere, he’s going to have to make the most of his opportunities and produce this year.
This isn’t a slam against Bucky. He’s our #1. It’s simply recognizing our three-headed monster for what it is and what it can be. And also, saving wear and tear on our #1 RB so he stays productive and healthy, as well.
“Rumor: _____ says Bucs Could Trade RB for _____.”
What sort of alternate reality are these people operating in?
Seriously.

Honestly of the bucs could get a midround pick tucker and Irving would be a stron one two punch and they can both catch. I think white is the 3rd best rusher on the team
April 20th, 2025 at 1:36 pm
Trade him and then what happens if Irving gets hurt? Does not make sense.
Only if it was such an upgrade in an area of true weakness. And then they better still have a plan to add a third back.
April 20th, 2025 at 2:04 pm
He’s a great receiver, adequate runner, and by far the best in pass protection and run blocking. I believe he’s the third best receiver on the team behind Evans and Godwin. We need to keep all three for as long as we can. White would NOT be easily replaced.
April 20th, 2025 at 2:06 pm
Honestly baffling how so many think its a good idea to dump a valuable #2 RB and make a young undersized RB a workhorse back…..
This fan base has a moron problem.
April 20th, 2025 at 2:56 pm
Joes correct, White is a solid team guy that is productive now that the coaches have found the best way to use his talents and make no mistake, je is a strong, tough talent.
April 20th, 2025 at 3:18 pm
I don’t think he is on the trade block…but if we draft the right player and any offer comes in? Licht will at least have to consider it.
April 20th, 2025 at 3:20 pm
In such a case as I mention above…it would have to be because we draft a generational RB…which is certainly not the plan, but if one falls to us at the right moment?
Plans can change.

I’m a huge white fan love watching him when he catches the ball. Dude is so dangerous and moves so smoothly. Also really like that he’s good at pass blocking and he’s gotten better has a RB what’s not to like. With the beating RBs take during a long season and hopefully into the post season you need more than 1 back. Unfortunately I see the Bucs running Bucky into the ground they used him so much but it’s understandable because we win when the ball is in his hands
April 20th, 2025 at 4:26 pm
Tucker had a costly drop more than once. He does rip off some chunk yardage plays but at what price? I see raxhaad as a strong hb 2. I don’t think the NFL utilizes fb’s anymore. Think the game has changed to much for one to be useful. They pull cg14 or a tight end for blocking duties. Evans gets in on blocking occasionally and appears good at it. Even though running 2 back sets seems like the thing the Bucs should be doing, OC’s see it differently. Maybe it will change with the new guy. Our team has made 2 OC’s look great. It has much mire to do with the players then the coach me thinks
April 20th, 2025 at 6:27 pm
I don’t know how many people write for this site, but what I do know is that White has been CONSISTENTLY bashed and criticized by someone(s) writing in this site. Now all of the sudden he’s considered differently, huh??
Classic.
Let’s not re-write history here. White was consistently criticized for his work as a running back taking handoffs, never for his pass blocking and receiving skills. And never did you read here to cut or dump White. –Joe
April 20th, 2025 at 7:14 pm
White two yards and fall down thats why they drafted Bucky!!!
April 20th, 2025 at 8:15 pm
Yep, you got it right Joe with the word “affordable”. White’s certainly not going to cost much more than any rookie the Bucs would draft to replace him and it is more than doubtful that a rookie would bring the experience and ability that White has to the table (find me a rookie that excels at pass blocking, for instance).
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Bucs don’t re-sign him next year, since he is not likely to be offered a ton in free agency – the same reason he wouldn’t bring much in draft capital if the Bucs tried to trade him.
White may not be perfect, but he’s a known. solid commodity for the Bucs and a team-first guy. You could do a heck of a lot worse for your RB2.

I do not mind folks liking Sean Tucker; but all the love for him for just so limited stats. Do folks really know for sure he can handle 50 percent of snaps well?
April 20th, 2025 at 11:14 pm
He is a home run hitter catching passes out the backfield. Period. The league is and has been for awhile pass happy, unimaginative offenses throwing to backs in the flat because nobody is open. I’d argue not only does have “value” but he is actually going to be too expensive next year to keep.
April 21st, 2025 at 2:06 am
May be a trade but it won’t likely be White.
That would be foolish. Look at his yards from scrimmage total. 1006
Nope
Go Bucs!
April 21st, 2025 at 2:09 am
LOL Comp Picks?
According to Rogers rules and the Buc bias, the Bucs would have to give up a pick and a home game.
Go Bucs!
