Get a beastly DT/NT to pair with & rotate in with Vea and our whole defense will improve dramatically. When Vea comes off the field, we’re a smallish Front-5, and we end up having to blitz way too much to generate a pass rush. Sorry but Gaines, Brewer & Gholston just don’t instill fear in opposing OLines. We need to upgrade the interior to make the outside more effective.
Ultimately it depends on who’s available. My only request is that we avoid selecting a quarterback, left tackle, center, or running back in the first round. And ideally, let’s steer clear of drafting a punter or kicker altogether. Perfer to trade down if I was asked without knowing who’s there to pick…
Aqua, GB, DR yes on your posts, too much solid talent in the front cause after we get ours everyone else will go after what’s left and then we can scoop DB’s LB what ever else we need but again as ya’ll said depends on how it shakes out.
The Beast has the Bucs LB, CB, safety, edge then TE as largest needs.
I feel like this is Brugler’s only mistake.
WR and DT are bigger needs than TE IMO.
MadMax … Deone Walker’s got a lot of good strengths, but I think he’s coming out a year early (his 2023 was actually better than his 2024). Weaknesses concern me …
o High center of gravity makes anchoring and leveraging gaps an issue.
o Inconsistent technique to absorb & battle blocks on his edge.
o Has trouble staying on balance and on his feet at times.
o Subpar conditioning leads to his motor gassing out.
o Below-average leg bend limits power potential as bull-rusher.
o Could use more consistent grit in his play demeanor.
Might just be coaching, no way to know. Too many of these guys come out for the draft prematurely IMO (like Jameis Winston did?). Walker’s ‘subpar conditioning’ hit concerns me the most.
Cool, Thanks DR. I guess Farmer then…or a late (6th if we acquire one) with Ty Robinson who just hit my radar today. But if Harmon is there and the top safeties are gone, thats where im leaning. Then WR next. Safeties and CB’s will be there in 4th and 5th.
Thor Griffith is like a hybrid between Vince Wilfork’s power and Aaron Donald’s leverage. He put up 45 reps of 225 lbs on the bench in training (available on YouTube), and officially recorded 42 reps at his pro day. He boasts a 500 lb bench max and an elite squat as well as a 4.9 40yrd dash and 4.7 sec shuttle—Griffith has raw power and ideal size at 6’2″, 320 lbs.
He also earned a spot on Bruce Feldman’s **“Freaks List”** in both 2023 and 2024, another testament to his rare athleticism. After transferring from Harvard to Louisville, Griffith maintained nearly identical production against significantly tougher competition. In his senior season, he recorded 21 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks.
Known for his knowledge of the game (understanding of offensive concepts), high iq, an explosive first step and incredible strength, Griffith is a **standout late-round prospect in my opinion** with high upside.
I’ll leave the discussion on the first-, second-, and third-rounders to the rest of you—there are definitely some great players in those ranges, and I feel like most of them have already been covered.
Depends on whether someone drops, cuz after the 1st round CB talent could fall to us, and if not, what round do you begin trying to target a CB? It ain’t that deep in talent that you could make an immediate impact.
OLB because atm we only have Reddick and Diaby who are capable of starting. Reddick is past 30 so we need a successor. Latest mocks have Mykel Williams slipping, so maybe…
This DT class is so deep that we can find value in later rounds.
Cam Horsley: Reliable run defender with strong hands and sound leverage.
JJ Pegues: Quick, disruptive, and built to attack zone run schemes.
Cam Jackson: Heavy anchor; swallows doubles and clogs lanes.
Desmond Watson: Immovable mass inside; eats space and crushes gaps.
In this draft, you can find promising depth—real power pigs—on Day 3 to plug the middle. What you’re not finding that late? Elite edge rushers. Those go early.
I love Jason but I’m not so sure about him drafting edge rushers. While I agree with most of the fans here voting for edge rusher it is a need even with the signing of hasson. Hes 31 and who no one really knows how he will do this season only time will tell. Yaya still needs to prove he’s that guy. Brawell is well none impactful so far. Jason has done a better job in the past trading and signing edge rushers. Drafting he has done poorly or atleast the ones he’s drafted havnt bin developed so the blame is actually 50/50. JTS and Spence had the make ups to be studs but were they developed properly? Fans won’t know. Same goes with yaya and brashwell. Time will only tell with them and it would be wild but doubt it happens if JTS hits doubles with the browns if he does most will say well he’s got garret on the other side so that’s why lol. Jason should stick to drafting every other position except edge rusher haha love him and wouldn’t change having him

* Cornerback
Dean is soft.

Whoever Jason selects. I like center cut beef but I’m not privy to the data or what our combo of half coaches is thinking.
April 9th, 2025 at 6:23 pm
My answer would depend on who’s available when they pick.

Starks/Emman/Harmon or trade down a little…it would be nice if we come out with 7 or 8 picks (we dont currently have a 6th)
April 9th, 2025 at 7:04 pm
@DR, yep. Whats your thoughts on Deone Walker? I could see spending a 3rd or 4th at that spot. Its a deep draft there so take advantage of it.
April 9th, 2025 at 7:31 pm
I saw the results and my first thought was DR gonna be big mad.😁

2nd best DT is better than anything. LB or DB are always available but game changing FT are a premium. Vea won’t last forever.

Edge Rusher??
We are 4 deep!
DT? We only have 2!! Vea and Kancey. We need a 3rd! Gaines ain’t it!
DE? Hall is below average and needs competition!
