Sure Hope Haason Reddick Doesn’t Forget The Past

March 14th, 2025

Haason Reddick.

When new Bucs edge rusher (thank you, God!) Haason Reddick took a couple of brisk steps toward the podium at the media studio inside One Buc Palace this morning, he greeted reporters and wore a smile.

In Reddick’s mind, he wanted to put the past behind him. Specifically, Reddick didn’t want to discuss being traded from the Eagles to the Jets last year, his subsequent hold out, and a nightmare of a season that didn’t begin until October.

“Very bizarre,” is how Reddick described his 2024 season with a chuckle.

That was a line he repeated a couple of times. That was about the extent that he allowed reporters any insight into why the Jets turned out to be a nightmare for him.

The Bucs didn’t bring Reddick in to be an afterthought like he was in the New Jersey Swamplands (one sack). Rather, the Bucs brought him to town because he had 50.5 sacks the previous four seasons for the Eagles, Panthers and Cardinals.

A couple of times Reddick said he wanted to keep the past in the past and was just focused on the future.

Joe hopes Reddick doesn’t put the past behind him. After two years in Arizona, Reddick was labeled a bust because Cardinals coaches thought he could be the next Derrick Brooks instead of a scary pass rusher.

In his fourth year in the league, Arizona had a change of heart, moved him back to outside linebacker and allowed Reddick to release the hounds. Reddick responded with 12.5 sacks when he moved back to outside linebacker.

And thus began a string of four straight seasons with double-digit sacks, broken up only by last year’s debacle.

Joe also hopes Reddick doesn’t forget how he walked on at Temple. Coming from a disadvantaged home, he overcame a lot of obstacles to eventually win a scholarship at the Philadelphia institution.

Joe sure hopes Reddick doesn’t put that past behind him. Because that work ethic is why Reddick will getting paid this year if he lives up to his past history.

If Reddick wants to forget the Jets, no problem. Just also remember the good of the past and how that helped mold him into the player he is.

Don’t forget all of the past Mr. Reddick. Just the Jets stuff.

Let’s face it, the Buc’s have a great organization. The Jets surely do not! HR will feel like he belongs in Tampa!! Double digits are his destiny this season!!

  2. First Last Says:

I wonder who he hates more? The Jets or the Eagles. I hope he gets 4 sacks against Jalen Hurts when we play them

  3. James west Says:

    Reddick gonna be a beast!

  4. jimmy Says:

I watched a couple of his sack clips on youtube today, put a smile on my face to think of Haasan on the edge and the big man pushing up the middle. opposing offenses are gonna have their hands full…..a great pickup by the bucs

  6. Anyhony Says:

Todd would also like to forget the Jets!

  7. KABucs Says:

Saw HR’s video at 1BP, media asked him pretty good questions (including Ira). He gave all the right answers and seems like he’s going to be a great veteran presence on the defense. I hope he gets back to where we left off in 2023. I’m excited!

  8. Fred McNeil Says:

I should think Reddick would find it most advantageous to play on a line that’s got Via, Kancey, and an improved Hall on it. Diaby is pretty good too. I see reason for confidence. Maybe we won’t need to blitz so much.

  9. Fred McNeil Says:

Blitzing less should improve the pass defense.

Bucs HAVE to get a lockdown corner. Diaby was top 5 in pressures last season. A lockdown corner would turn some of those pressures into sacks. If the Bucs get a corner that gives the guys up front just one more second more often then I will be surprised if YaYa doesn’t put up 11-13 sacks and Reddick around the same. I expect them to produce 23-25 sacks just between the two of them. Gotta get a corner to make this happen. As always Go Bucs

who’s not to say reddick could have his best year yet…

    you never know…

he’s working with coaches from when he was coming up…and a pretty formidable front line as well…

he could have a big year…

    the potential is certainly there

  12. Noclu4u Says:

Bucs about to trade for Trey Hendricks.

  13. OR Buc Says:

    Hassan, listen to Sensai Joe.

  14. MadMax Says:

I loved his presser today….i think we got a beast! Very much needed.

I’m loving this FA season and this guy is the prime reason why. He is a proven producer sans injury concerns at a bargain price, plus if the Bucs meet the Iggles in the playoffs- I expect him to more than show up on the stat sheet. On the topic of not forgetting the past I adore the Bugs Bunny and Road Runner treats left in the daily links from time to time. I’ve been independently enjoying ‘Ali Baba Bunny’ in celebration of the signing- from “Hassan chop!!!” to “Would Hassan like all this treasure for thine very own?” to that resolute “No one shall pass Hassan” its been a joyful intensifier of this signing. This is going to be a fun draft and fun season for Bucs fans.

  16. Aqualung Says:

Hope he’s got a pass coverage camp in his offseason workout plan.

  17. heyjude Says:

The Jets were a hot mess. Forget about them.

So happy we got Haason. He is a great addition to the Bucs.

  18. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

I try not to hold it against players that didn’t necessarily perform at their peak when playing for garbage organizations with a history of ruining careers.

Kind of like a qb we might know……

Fire the cannons…. We now have our before each game cheer slogan…..

“for the boat parade, for the boat parade, FOR THE BOAT PARADE…LFG BUCS”

Thank you Chris Godwin…. We do this to win a Championship…..

  20. California Buc Says:

This is what we needed. He and Godwin will br welcomed in the locker room by David. We need to draft a shuttle down corner and a starting ILB. They can learn through baptism.
