Jason Licht Reports Jason Licht Signed A Receiver

March 14th, 2025

Source?

It appears that Bucs AC/DC-loving Bucs general manager Jason Licht has it on good authority the Bucs signed a receiver today.

So who is Licht’s source? That would be Jason Licht.

In what feels to be an annual ritual, Licht decided to get it on the fun of breaking news. So Licht Twittered that free agent wide receiver Sterling Shepard agreed to terms with the Bucs.

Yeah, Joe thinks this is legit.  Joe trusts Licht’s source.

    good move!

  2. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I don’t know how excited I am about this signing. Too many “me first” stupid penalties last year as well as too many drops.

  3. OR Buc Says:

Not necessarily an upgrade, but an instance where a 2nd year with team (“continuity”) could lead to an upgrade in performance. I mean the dude came out of retirement to play with Baker and he was a number 1 for a long time, while still not being that old.

  4. First Last Says:

Everyone thinks about the cowboys game and the Saints game. But he was solid and Baker trusts him which is important. He also is a good locker room presence I think

  5. Pink Says:

There was a stretch when Mike and Chris went down that he was our best target. Adds a lot of depth at WR

  6. tgoodwin Says:

YESSSS!!!! N Yes, him and Baker r VERY connected on n off field and Sterling has learned 2 ‘be kool’ when he needs 2-but, he is a gr8 recievr and had added 2 Bucs and a Huge boost 2 moreale in the locker room-super xtra 4 Baker n Bucs and can be explosive with Bake-soo-im THRILLED, cause, it helps Bake n so, the Bucs-soo glad all of oline and most of back up oline has been reained and lots of our best parts of defense and LUV added parts, GO LICHT N U R FUNNY LICHT!!!!

  7. El HEFE Says:

The nfl is so mixed up right now about all the signings Tampa has done they don’t know what we looking for in the draft the way JL is signing people I love it go Bucs 25 season is gonna be something special no less than 11 wins

  8. The Fighting Schianoes Says:

If we draft someone, theres a decent chance he doesnt make the team anyhow.

  9. IrishPirate Says:

Needs to calm down on the penalties but I think he is needed until we know how Godwin returns.

  10. @Ifwelinkyouwon Says:

Mannn.. Yall trippin. He had some great moments this season.

  11. BucDawg Says:

I hope we don’t get trapped in keeping all our guys syndrome.

You need new blood every year to bring in a different perspectives.

I still want a receiver in the top 4 picks.

Wouldn’t mind Skataboo if we can snag him as well.

Imagine him and Bucky pounding the rock!

  12. toopanca Says:

    A reasonable move.

  13. SlyPirate Says:

    TORN ABOUT THE DRAFT
Jahaad Campbell is probably the pick; that said, a good MLB will be available in R2-3. The Bucs should draft Tetairoa McMillan if he’s available. He’s Mike Evans v2.

  14. geno711 Says:

Pretty shallow WR draft. Glad we got a guy we know who can play instead of hoping that a day three WR hits.

  15. adam from ny Says:

solid signing…his rapport with baker is on point…

    and he’s just as competitive…

    maybe even has a crazier on-field demeanor…lol

more balls-to-the-walls dudes are always needed on a team…

now go grab up chark if management isn’t vibing palmer’s development

  16. FilthyAnimal Says:

I don’t know why. Maybe there’s nothing better out there at his ow pricetag.

  17. Ricki Says:

I wish all GM would do this for every signing they do so we get rid of those insider journalists.

  18. PewterStiffArm Says:

Shucks, I was kinda wanting someone new. I felt he was out of place more times than not.

  19. EEK Says:

    great athlete
good signing depending on the price — likely not high

will allow 1 less pick to dedicated to offense — 1 more pick for D

  20. gotbbucs Says:

I like it. Eliminate the middle man and report your signings yourself.

As far as the actual signing. It’s a 1 year – $2 mil contract with $500k guaranteed. About as low risk as it gets anymore.

  21. BucsFanNC Says:

He’s washed. Hurt us more than he helped

  22. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Hopefully not as WR4

  23. David Says:

Great depth, although I’m a little surprised because of the number of penalties and drops he had. But he’s going to be a # 4 at best.

Personally, I can’t wait to see KAM be a little more involved, but there’s only one bottle to go around

  24. Deuceswild78 Says:

    Decent for depth nothing more

  25. Vanessa Anne Says:

Sterling was up and down last year.

When he was good, he was very good. Baker clearly trusts him.

But there were a few drops that had me scratching my head and wondering what was going on with him.

And a few penalties that we didn’t need.

Still, I’m ok with Sterling signing back with us. He knows the system. He can pick up yardage and first downs.

I think he just needs to refocus on the fundamentals a little bit and he’ll be another great weapon in our offense.

Not really. I doubt it has any impact on their receiver plans in the draft. He’s a 5th receiver, at best.

If they draft a receiver, it won’t be to replace an irrelevant guy like Sterling Sheperd. It will be a to get an eventual starter, Likely in round 1-3. If Sheperd is still on the roster this season, it’s only because they’ve failed to upgrade.

  27. Faspro Says:

Baker connects with Shepard a lot, he’s fast.

  28. View from 132 Says:

Preseason leader in catches and yards signed.

  29. Dewey Selmon Says:

Should have had his daughters announce it but he would of dropped the phone.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

I really liked him last offseason, and early in the year I thought he looked pretty good. But injuries and time have caught up with him and he appeared to wear down as the season went along. But as a depth WR, he’s certainly worth bringing to camp. I doubt the contract is more than a vet min deal with very little or no guarantees, so why not.

  31. StickinUp4Centers Says:

Was hoping for Tyler Boyd, but this works.

  32. firethecannons Says:

not sure this is good, too many penalties

  33. infomeplease Says:

He’s a legit depth piece. He just needs to be use more Stickem! Oh yah, receivers can’t use that stuff anymore. How about stickier gloves!

  34. infomeplease Says:

    And watch the penalties!

  35. Kenton Smith Says:

Sterling is a good guy to have on the team. He did have some dumb penalties last year and he dropped a couple but when our receivers got injured he made a decent 3 or 4 guy. 32 catches for 334 yards and a touchdown. I hope he can help in any way for another year. Puts out alot of effort blocking and he can run a trap or end around if needed. Love to see him get a ring. Go Shep! Go Bucs!

  36. BigPoppaBuc Says:

I really like Shep. Yes he had too many dumb penalties last year but he plays with fire and toughness. He matches Bakers energy. I like the guy and he’s a healthy, experienced vet. Good signing.

  37. Tony Says:

    @SlyPirate

I think I’d go Revel. Yeah I know he’s coming off an injury but he won’t have to get thrown in there right away. With McCollum Vildor & depending on Dean he can probably sit & recover still & if he has to go in there then he can go in there & then take over whenever needed. I’m pretty sure he can play both zone & man. The odds of a defensive lineman coming in there right away & making a huge impact are pretty rare.

  38. ChiBuc Says:

    He’s Baker’s Boy

  39. Gipper Says:

Not a fan of Shep. Way too manic on the field resulting in silly penalties. Hope the Bucs set some offseason goals and development ideas for Trey Palmer. He needs to show something in training camp and preseason. If he is serious about improvement, it will show up in camp. If not, he like Shep is expendable.

Fire the cannons…. We now have our before each game cheer slogan…..

“for the boat parade, for the boat parade, FOR THE BOAT PARADE…LFG BUCS”

Thank you Chris Godwin…. We do this to win a Championship…..

  41. Aqualung Says:

Shep plays hard and fierce. He will deliver a hit and take a hit. Stick his face in the fan.

Jarrett and Palmer are like Kenny Bell and Jaelen Darden. Scared of their own shadows. Neither will be Bucs in 2026, they’ll be Browns. No place on the Bucs for soft cowards.
