Connections Key For Haason Reddick
March 14th, 2025So new Bucs beastly (hopefully) edge rusher Haason Reddick met with Joe and other local media at One Buc Palace today and made a few things very clear.
No. 1, Reddick is in Tampa because of his connections with Bucs coaches. In particular, Bucs outside linebackers coach Larry Foote spent two years around Reddick in Arizona, and Foote was a bit of mentor for the Cardinals’ first-round pick.
While Reddick was pegged as an inside linebacker by then head coach Bruce Arians (his final season there), Foote was all over the versatile Reddick to learn how to get to the quarterback.
After Foote moved on, the Cardinals finally made Reddick an edge rusher, what he was in college at Temple, and he exploded.
No. 2, Reddick’s smile told a huge story when he was asked today about playing with Vita Vea and Calijah Kancey.
And Joe will say a No. 3 message from Reddick is he wanted to play in a place that felt like home.
A walk-on at Temple from a very tough southwest New Jersey city named Camden (is the Campbell’s soup factory still there?) Reddick said he’s known all kinds of adversity in his life and it feels routine to him. So his high-profile holdout mess with the Jets last season, after what he called business disagreements with the Eagles, isn’t something that set him back, he said.
Reddick said he’s currently 6-1, 245 pounds and ready to the attack-dog violent edge rusher he’s known to be.
His greatest strength? Reddick said it’s smarts. He knows how to win at the line of scrimmage.
Joe will share more from Reddick later today.

Maybe it’s PTSD from El Serpiente but I was getting worried when he didn’t put pen to paper right away … very grateful he did though and that he’s here. Can’t wait to watch this line get after it!

Dude won the press conference. Love his attitude and focus. He knows the game. I believe this is another great pickup by the team.
March 14th, 2025 at 11:22 am
6-1, 245 pounds damn he’s not much bigger than Devin white. Doesn’t he need like at least 10 more pounds? As long as he’s putting the quarterback on the ground I guess it doesn’t matter

In his prime. Motivated by 1-year deal. A little revenge factor. Vea-CK-Hall freeing him up.
Sacks by Year
2023 – 11, 2022 – 16, 2021 – 11, 2020 – 12.5
(If Bowles doesn’t drop him into coverage) Look out. Could be a BIG year for HR.

Is he an attitude guy? Does he have an edge about him? They need some mean MFers on Defense.
March 14th, 2025 at 11:45 am
His press conference was very good. I can see how his attitude and self-proclaimed skill-set won him this job. He seemed very team-friendly, with just the right amount of confidence. This year’s team is really shaping up. GO BUCS!

Bowles played at Temple also!
This signing is destiny.
Welcome to Tampa Bay Hassan!
Now let’s sign Barrett to rotate with him.
And let Braswell rotate with Yaya. And Nelson as #5.
That’s a sick group of OLB’s that allows us to draft ILB, CB and DT/DE this year.
March 14th, 2025 at 12:11 pm
YaYa should benefit as well. Rotate in Braswell some…. Kancey and Vea up the middle with a revitalized Hall…

Pewter Power
Especially since he knows not the Tampa heat and humidity..he better bulk up now, or he’ll weigh 225 after camp 😅

I wouldn’t hold my breath. Todd gonna Todd.
March 14th, 2025 at 12:19 pm
They should still go out & sign one more & resign Barrett.
March 14th, 2025 at 12:19 pm
Let’s hope he gets a ton of pressure,qb hits, and sacks. old school get the quarterback 2025 LT style and once we resign Shaq and he has had all off season to get back in starter shape we will have lots of pressure on the qb where it’s not all on our secondary to make the plays.
March 14th, 2025 at 12:22 pm
When Todd tells him his new job is to cover Cee Dee Lamb, Reddick sounds like he will ignore that. Good.
March 14th, 2025 at 12:30 pm
Currently have 6 Edge players on roster…Possibly Barrett? Possibly draft pick?
March 14th, 2025 at 12:44 pm
Licht is building a formidable war chest of power & speed along the D line. It’s his greatest need and the missing element to get over the hump. Reddick is the perfect guy to add. His speed will wreak havoc on mobile QBs & the RPO. Shaq had it, but his achilles & father time caught up. JTS had it too, but minus the skill & will.

He seems like he wants to be around Foote and the other guys and hopefully like he said taking the chains off . I like that, you want to get to the Superbowl, well you might have to kick some ass on the field.
March 14th, 2025 at 1:17 pm
If we happen to draft another edge like Green or Ezeriraku in round 1, we shouldn’t be able to complain about edge rush for at least another year.
Will only have to worry about ILB at that point. Wont be upset if Campbell is the pick as he will hopefully upgrade that spot next to Lavonte big time!
I do fear a couple of our division rivals drafting ahead of us are gonna poach our targets.

Sounds like a great signing to me. We’ll know around September or November

He will be a great addition and I could see him re-signing in Tampa if he has a good year next year.
March 14th, 2025 at 1:55 pm
If this works out, Bustwell may never see the field.
March 14th, 2025 at 2:55 pm
Our prayers have been answered. This Bucs organization is Top of the Class. They get it. Go Bucs!!!
March 14th, 2025 at 3:34 pm
Aqualung – we get it – Bowles will drop him into coverage every snap covering Jerry Rice. I think you’ve stated your opinion plenty.
Excited to see what Reddick can do, as well as some anticipated beef on the D line via the draft.

Hey linebackers cover receivers, news flash. And there’s a reason SOMETIMES lineman drop into coverage, can we give it a rest or find a new bitch? Look at the film from all around the league and see what it does. For this team part of the reason was a weakness of getting to the the QB, trying to manufacture sacks and force incompletions, if lucky. DB’s were all hurt at some point last year so what’s the bitch about a blitzing DB getting home? Who drops into the flat to cover so he can get home and provide a body in the throwing lane? Yeah if you don’t get to the QB you can be toast, no doubt, but there is a REASON and situation behind it, not stupid coaching. When it works you’re a genius, fail and you’re an arse.
March 14th, 2025 at 4:08 pm
And by blitzing a DB SOMEONE has to man a gap. if possible. It can be a guessing game like I meant to say. Guess right and you win the play. Also trying to produce turnovers.

I suspect Mr. Licht is signing some depth pieces across the board so he can package multiple picks together to move up in multiple rounds, thereby insuring TB gets their targets (they don’t have to draft as many players if they already have depth in place).
March 14th, 2025 at 5:37 pm
Our depth chart looks so much better up front now
March 14th, 2025 at 6:08 pm
If he drops into coverage and gets a pick-6 you guys will bi**h that Todd doesn’t call enough drop backs.
March 14th, 2025 at 6:26 pm
If he drops into coverage and gets a pick-6 you guys will complain that he doesn’t do it enough!
March 14th, 2025 at 7:50 pm
sounds great, good info Joe!, kinda like Baker, he is a refugee and needs a home that loves and cares about him and provides for him. Glad to have him!!!
March 14th, 2025 at 8:20 pm
Lets go!
March 14th, 2025 at 11:23 pm
Until Todd changes his philosophy I will keep harping on his propensity to drop big guys into coverage and have the little guys pass rush.
March 15th, 2025 at 11:17 am
Bucs were top 10 in pressures/sacks last year if I remember correctly. The main issue has been soft coverage. When teams face us they knew we had a blitz-happy HC and guys up front who could get after a QB, so OCs schemed quick passes to wide-open receivers because our DBs were playing 10 yards or more away from the receivers at the snap. Play tighter coverage off the L.O.S. and make the QB hold the ball for a half-second or full-second longer and the sacks will pile up. That’s how so many rookie and young QBs do so well against us. It plays into their hands and lets the OC give his young QB easy completions.

Looks like Licht/Bowles are emphasizing the Defense now. YES!!!!!
