“It Does Not Make Sense To Do This If You’re Not In It To Win A Championship”
March 13th, 2025
Plays to win.
For Chris Godwin, there is a reason he puts himself through so much blood, sweat and toil to be a top NFL professional.
Godwin’s a laid-back guy, so fame isn’t really his thing. He doesn’t have a big ego to the point that he needs that ego to be fed by the spotlight.
The only reason Godwin says he torments himself to be the best is to chase another Super Bowl ring.
“I’m extremely hungry for it,” Godwin said of trying to get Ring No. 2. “To me, it does not make sense to do this if you’re not in it to win a championship.
“Again, it’s way too difficult. We put way too much in it, we spend way too much time away from our families, we put our bodies through way too much to be in this to not try to win a championship. Everything that we do is in pursuit of that.
“To be able to accomplish that, obviously, it would mean the world to us. The first one was amazing. The boat parade? Pretty sick. I would love to do that again.”
Each year that goes by since he was part of the Bucs’ Super Bowl championship following the 2020 season, fewer of his old championship teammates are around. But Godwin has grown close to the new guys that have arrived since 2020.
Godwin said it would be cool to help his newer teammates not just win another ring, but to share in the experience.
“Baker Mayfield works his ass off,” Godwin began. “I would love for him to be able to experience winning a Super Bowl and the things that come with that. That would be something to see, huh?”
The way Godwin busts his tail to be the best he can be, and how that work ethic rubs off, Joe wouldn’t be shocked if the Bucs make a run at that next ring next winter.

Forget dangling the Lombardi trophy in front of the players. Dedicate an even bigger and better boat parade. Seems like Chris thought it was sick. So guys, we’re not only playing for a championship, we’re playing for a bad ass boat parade.

God bless Chris Godwin! Give him his 2nd ring! Tuesday I picked up my $70 bets for the NFC Championship and Super Bowl. I’ll get a $30 bet today on Baker to win MVP.
Go Bucs!!!

If Licht can find 3 players on D in this draft like he did on offense last year in Barton, Bucky and JMac … Bucs should be right there and tough to beat.
Exciting times!
When would be best time to hit a home game? Oct? Nov? Doesn’t matter?
Would love to connect with someone, a few of you down the road here, possibly after schedule release to get the best info on the area and how a guy (and his wife) should spend a weekend and maximize their enjoyment at Ray Jay.

Saskbucs, If you’re not used to the Florida heat November for sure. Stay on Clearwater beach for a couple days then hit the game Sunday. That way your wife would appreciate it. Dates for specific games don’t come out until later in the year though. Good Luck!

We will get another SB ring with Mayfield

Good to see that longtime Bucs respect and appreciate Mayfield. Chris was enroute to his greatest stat season before the injury. Obvious that he likes playing with Mayfield and factored that into his decision making.

So glad we signed him. A true pro. Him and ME13 best duo in the league. Attitude, work ethic no diva drama both selfless teammates. Couldn’t ask for a better duo. Idk if we see this again in most of ours life time

It would be nice if all our players (not just Evans, Godwin and the usual suspects that already stay after practice for a few more reps) would commit to extra reps after practice this coming season. Getting every to participate would surely be unlikely, but what if? The culture that’s been built, and the continuity established should truly insulate the activity. It’s certainly fun to dream about.

You guys are like sheep. I would hope that more then half.of the players in the NFL have this mentality. Im.a.bucs fan but cmon Joe, find a hobby in the off-season
