Joe Tryon-Shoyinka Finds Work
March 11th, 2025
Gone
Outside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka is now a former Bucs player.
The first round pick in the 2021 draft never panned out with the Bucs. His high-water mark was five sacks in 2023. Today, he signed with the Browns on a one-year, $4.75 million deal, reports Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports.
JTS will now get to work with Jim Schwartz, the famed defensive guru who runs the Cleveland defense. Joe will be interested to see how JTS does now that the only thing he needs to worry about is rushing the passer and he won’t have to worry about covering DK Metcalf or Ja’Marr Chase.
March 11th, 2025 at 2:54 pm
Probably do well in a Wide-9 scheme.
March 11th, 2025 at 2:57 pm
1 year – $4.75M
Good luck Joe…..
March 11th, 2025 at 2:59 pm
But he’s a Swiss Army knife…
March 11th, 2025 at 3:00 pm
Somewhat surprised on this. He has a year to do well there. Hope he does.
March 11th, 2025 at 3:03 pm
He also gets to work along side Myles Garrett. Who would be surprised if JTS has a breakout year for sacks when not smothered by the complexities and pass coverage demands of the genius’s defense?
March 11th, 2025 at 3:03 pm
He’s going to get 7 sacks just from the QB running right into his arms from trying to avoid Garrett on the other side.
March 11th, 2025 at 3:04 pm
good! glad to see thiss disappointment go anywhere else
March 11th, 2025 at 3:06 pm
JTS would too often be out powered by OL and didn’t have the skills to outthink or outmaneuver. Maybe he needs better coaching. We shall see.
March 11th, 2025 at 3:10 pm
Oh well. The Bucs took a flyer on him addressing a position of need and it didn’t work out. There isn’t a DE from that draft class that made it to the Pro Bowl so it’s not as if the team missed on that pick trying to address a need.
March 11th, 2025 at 3:10 pm
If JTS does well, it tells then you a lot about our coaches and their ability to teach young pass rushers.
March 11th, 2025 at 3:14 pm
good he left now get rid of hayes
March 11th, 2025 at 3:18 pm
“If JTS does well, it tells then you a lot about our coaches and their ability to teach young pass rushers.”
Typical Bucs fan mindset….place the blame Bowles instead of Jason Licht for drafting cruddy pass rushers smh
March 11th, 2025 at 3:18 pm
Bucs signed Anthony Nelson to two year deal
March 11th, 2025 at 3:19 pm
Just change their name to the Cleveland Steamers and get it over with.
March 11th, 2025 at 3:27 pm
Who else but the misguided Browns would sign JTS?
March 11th, 2025 at 3:29 pm
“This guy sucks!” -Bob Barker v Happy Gilmore
March 11th, 2025 at 3:34 pm
Oh Noooo….not plan 9. We are doomed.
March 11th, 2025 at 3:41 pm
Do they play 4-3 or 3-4?
March 11th, 2025 at 3:43 pm
Much more likely that JTS will be backing up Garrett on the right side than starting on the left, especially at his salary.
March 11th, 2025 at 3:44 pm
The magical mystery chess piece has departed?!?! Oh the humanity!!!
March 11th, 2025 at 3:54 pm
Well… bye.
March 11th, 2025 at 4:09 pm
The Browns? I wonder if this was his only option to stay in the NFL?
March 11th, 2025 at 4:12 pm
The Browns play a 4-3 I believe. Will be interesting to see what he does as DE, I think it will be a much better fit for him, assuming that’s how they use him. Until about 5 games into last season, he was slowly improving each year – then I’m not sure what happened as he pretty much disappeared completely. Still, he’s a young guy, has decent production in terms of numbers, so it wouldn’t shock me if he ends up playing in the NFL for a long time.
March 11th, 2025 at 4:17 pm
Good luck to him! He gave 100% that’s all you can ask of a guy but unfortunately he never progressed. Beckles will have to find a new punching bag now.

It would just tell me that he was never a good fit in a 3-4 defense, and always should have been a 4-3 DE.
But we shall see what he does, if anything.
March 11th, 2025 at 4:21 pm
Looked like racehorse, played like a nag. For the Bucs anyhow. Hope he finds a better home in a new system.
March 11th, 2025 at 4:22 pm
Never underestimate the power of the Schwartz!!!!
March 11th, 2025 at 4:22 pm
Might be good for JTS. Myles Garrett often draws double and triple teams. This ought to give an experienced guy like JTS lots of action. Good luck to him. Sorry it did not work out for you here in Tampa Bay.
March 11th, 2025 at 4:30 pm
Browns have Jalon Darden and JTS, good luck with that
March 11th, 2025 at 4:31 pm
If the Ron and Ron show still aired in the Tampa market would be saying…..(drumroll)…
March 11th, 2025 at 4:31 pm
See ya!
March 11th, 2025 at 4:32 pm
Wish you the best JTS.

Decent production? Decent production? Are you kidding me, decent production? I hope he gets a sack, another sack (in Jim Mora’s voice).
March 11th, 2025 at 4:38 pm
Looked like Tarzan-played like Jane.
March 11th, 2025 at 4:40 pm
Nobody in the history of the NFL ran themself out of more plays than Joe Tryon-Stinka. Time for him to stink it up with the Browns now. Very apropos.
March 11th, 2025 at 4:48 pm
I have mixed feelings about this.
We will never know if he would have been a great edge/DE here in Tampa
Coach Swiss Cheese had him doing everything else half the time.
Maybe if the guy had practiced and played closer to 100% of the time at the position he was drafted for, he might have done a whole lot better.
On the other hand, 4+ years even playing your position at 50% of the time is long enough to show some serious progress, which he never really did.
March 11th, 2025 at 5:11 pm
He’ll be out of the league in two years. No fire, no desire.
March 11th, 2025 at 5:35 pm
VA
Too much jogging around watching the play. JTS only quick moves were to the bank on paydays.
March 11th, 2025 at 5:53 pm
high expectations for him
incredible athlete but just couldn’t perform consistently enough
he’ll probably be in the league for a long time — he’s still really young
NFL is so intense
March 11th, 2025 at 5:54 pm
@ Alvin scissors…… Eric Curry, Keith, McCants, and Gerald McCoy……… At least Gerald was a very talented player that made a lot of plays, but boy did he run himself out of a lot of plays.
March 11th, 2025 at 6:11 pm
They can have him & he’ll probably end up looking alot better because he’s gonna have Garrett with him. I’m sure he’s gonna think he’s gonna be the next best thing if it happens then. They should turn him into the janitor or waterboy or concession stand worker instead. A cheerleader or mascot would work, too!

Joe in Michigan Says:
Decent production?
———–
Going into last season – which is what I said I was referring to – he had 13 sacks in 34 starts, and had a 17 game pace of 57 tackles.
Yes, that is decent production, in particular for a guy who was very green coming out of college and who had improved each year.
Last year, however, after starting out OK he fell off a cliff.
He always looked to me like he’d be a much better 4-3 DE as he just doesn’t look natural playing standing up. We’ll see, not that it’s our problem anymore.

McCoy was a 3-time ALL-PRO, and a 6-time Pro Bowler.
The hate on McCoy is just flat out retarded.

Not a difference maker
March 11th, 2025 at 6:49 pm
Going to miss the JTS Memes. Who we going to blame now if we still don’t have a pass rush.

Gaines Adams. Rest his soul.
March 11th, 2025 at 6:52 pm
Good luck JTS. He seemed to give good effort. I wish him well in Cleveland.

You left out Ron Holmes.
March 11th, 2025 at 6:58 pm
Appreciate the plays he made at times for us last year.

March 11th, 2025 at 7:12 pm
Joe, are you sure he signed with the Cleveland Browns and not UPS, who use those brown trucks.
March 11th, 2025 at 7:18 pm
That was my thinking also. Rod, in a 4-3 is main job is to not get past the offensive tackles hit the quarterback
March 11th, 2025 at 8:50 pm
Solid move by JTS. Get to learn from Garrett and play in an aggressive scheme at DE which will suit him well. Superior athleticism but the inability to disengage is prevalent. I would contribute his lack of growth to skipping his senior year in college for Covid and probably put some blame on player development at his position. Wish him well but he’s got a long road ahead
March 11th, 2025 at 9:18 pm
He will fit in there well good bye
March 11th, 2025 at 9:18 pm
Ron & Ron… that’s a stroll down memory lane. The old 95YNF days.
Anyways later JTS!
March 11th, 2025 at 9:44 pm
Bust
March 11th, 2025 at 9:52 pm
I actually was hoping that the Bucs would keep him as a backup. But, it looks like he got a better deal in Cleveland.
March 11th, 2025 at 11:37 pm
Sing with me.
Shoynk Shoynk is an oink oink.
He’s perfect for the Browns.
Good riddance.
March 12th, 2025 at 12:25 am
He had the best punt block in Bucs history.
March 12th, 2025 at 5:58 am
Yeah Rod Munch, I was just joking. I do expect more production from the new starter, though.
March 12th, 2025 at 7:29 am
Nice guy, drafted to high, not his fault.
March 12th, 2025 at 9:33 am
If he succeeds, then the Bucs should never draft an OLB/DE again with Licht/Bowles in command.

Many knuckleheads on this site talk bout Bowles over complex defense skeems if u r stupid & can’t adapt to coache’s play book I suggest to find another line of work u make millions but sound like gronkowski duh which way did he go you don’t need to b in Tampa
