Khalil Mack Off The Board

March 10th, 2025

Nope.

UPDATED: The Bucs signed edge rusher Haason Reddick.

A lot of Bucs fans dreamed of beastly outside linebacker Khalil Mack coming to the Bucs. And football-wise, from all the established edge rushers, he may have been the best fit.

But, like anything of quality, it costs.

Well, the Chargers decided to meet Mack’s price per BSPN.

Mack will sign a one-year deal with Los Angeles for some $18 million.

Joe was hopeful the Bucs finally saw the light from last year, face the cold, hard truth they needed a proven edge rusher. But by watching Harold Landry and Khalil Mack, among others, sign elsewhere, that told “this Joe” the Bucs might bank on good ol’ hope for an edge rush, as usual.

(You don’t know how much Joe wants to be proven wrong on this.)

  1. Mike Johnson Says:

What did Mack have last year…75 or 6 sacks? I’m glad we are not going there. Lets concentrate on the DE from the Bengals

  2. DungyDance Says:

Draft day trade for Hendrickson is still possible.

  3. Rastaferian Jenkins Says:

He was never coming here. Old, banged up, and on the downside of a HOF career. If we sign an edge will be a bargain signing, all of the teams with overpriced edges all suck and are dumping these high contracts. $40million bucks can get you Myles Garrett and a 4-13 record.

  4. Allbuccedup Says:

Licht never surprises anyone in free agency just signs a few of Bucs free agents never a big splash just a couple ripples. But why change what works right.

  5. Jeffs grandpa Says:

0.0% chance we trade and pay Hendrickson $30-38 million per year what he’s asking for

  6. Saskbucs Says:

I, and many others, are right there with you.

This was our guy. Easily affordable and fills a huge need.

It’s extremely early but I am still unimpressed. Seems we are going the draft and hope route. Bowles better make some major adjustments/improvements or we are watching next season end in the wild card or div round again.

I hate saying crap like that, acting hopeless as a fan but the writing is on the wall for me. Bucs are happy to collect div titles and hope the cards fall in their favor the rest of the way.

  7. Simeon4HOF Says:

It’s clearer than ever, no matter what he or they says,
JL and Bowles do not value an Edge Rusher

  8. Smarter than Joe Says:

    No Mack
    No Garrett
    No Landry

Still think Licht is a “Ring of Honor GM”?

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Let’s be real without Brady Licht is back to being a scout. He hits on some picks yes, but he’s not a top tier GM at building a complete roster

  9. Simeon4HOF Says:

Dollar Tree for our biggest hole it is

  10. Saskbucs Says:

Agreed Jeffs grandpa. Hendrickson and his cost is a pipe dream. Mack is still very effective and articles have been posted here about it. High PFF grades, terrific get off numbers.

If we won’t pay 20 for 1 year of him, we aren’t paying 35+ for multiple years of someone else.

Mack had like 16 sacks the previous year (with a 6 sack game) then a new coaching staff came in. Safe to say that had as much to do with it than Mack falling off a cliff, especially when looking at the advanced stats I mentioned. Ugh.

  11. heyjude Says:

Not worried yet, we have two more days. Hoping Licht has a plan. Possibly the 19th pick of the draft.

  12. DailyRich Says:

You all know we can’t force a player to sign with us if he doesn’t want to, right? He took a hometown discount to stay with the Chargers, it’s not like we rejected us.

  13. Tucker Says:

Jts from the dollar tree incoming savior of the pass rush.

  14. Saskbucs Says:

Bucs 50th season upcoming… give the fans something extra!

I’m still planning my first trip to Ray Jay this winter for a game but my excitement is waning. I thought we would be making a couple moves.

Licht saving all his pennies for the OL, prolly thinking about the money he needs for Luke next season. Great we have a terrific offense with a 35 million QB and great OL and an RB… with a defensive, offensively conservative HC who is so smart he doesn’t need a high end edge rusher. Maddening!

  15. D-Rome Says:

The Bucs should take a look at Dayo Odeyingbo. He has fantastic sack numbers in his career as a part time player, much like Shaq Barrett did before coming to Tampa.

  16. Allbuccedup Says:

    Smarter than Joe exactly!!!!!

  17. Simeon4HOF Says:

    JTS …. 4 years for 160 milly
That’ll get us to the opposing QB

  18. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

How much of that $18M after Cali taxes…lol

  19. Simeon4HOF Says:

Maybe we just sign a CB to play Edge and cover WR1’s

  20. DC Bucs Boy Says:

Looks like we just signed Haason Reddick!

  21. Guinness8 Says:

    Hasson Reddick to the Bucs

  22. Redtop5884 Says:

Hey Joe Bucs signed a edge Rusher Hasson Redneck 1 year 12 mill

  23. Dubcity Says:

    Reddick to Bucs

  24. Xristos Says:

    Recent history suggests
We wont pay top dollar for a pass rusher FA
We wont make a big trade because Licht loves his premium picks.

So i dont know why all this time Bucs fans or media are talking about Garrett, Hendrickson, Landry, Mack.
Its a waste of time to expect something like that, it would be the surprise of the decade.
    Go Bucs

  25. Rastaferian Jenkins Says:

    Hassan Reddick

  26. Miguel Says:

    Bucs signing Hassan Redick – 1yr $14M

  27. Steven007 Says:

Unless we trade for Hendrickson it’s going to end up being a guy like Matthew judon.

  28. Todd Says:

Your tax rate is determined by the state the game is played in , not always Cali tax. Quite a shame Bucs did not want to eliminate their need for an edge rusher by signing a proven HOF’er.

  29. Overpaying Says:

    We just signed reddick

  30. Guinness8 Says:

    Godwin is back

  31. Redtop5884 Says:

    Hasson Reddick I’m is a Buc y’all

  32. Overpaying Says:

    We just signed hasson reddick

  33. Joseph C Simmons Says:

Holy crap Reddick is a Buc?

After his mediocre year last year hope we got him cheap

  34. Todd Says:

    bredeson signed 3 year deal

  35. Fan of the South Says:

Somebody drafted these guys. Mack went 5th overall and Tampa could have traded up from 7 to get him. Doubt anybody is regretting taking Evans at 7.
Landry went in the Second Round when Tampa took Vea at 12 in the 1st Round. Second Round Bucs took RoJo at 6 and the Titans traded up with the Raiders to get Landry at 9. That was a miss.

One would Imagine that the Offense practices it’s Quick release 10 yards or less pass routes making the only real pass rush experience coming during games. Pay a Practice Squad QB who will forgo the red shirt and take a few hits and have him throw Intermediate and longer developing routes. This will also help the O Line because until they can hold up on those routes consistently the Bucs Offense will continue to look great against weak teams during the season and get bounced in the Wild Card Round by middle of the road defense. Unless they draw a wounded team like the 2023 Eagles.

  36. Fan of the South Says:

Rumor has it the Bucs are getting Reddick and have signed Godwin too.

  37. Allbuccedup Says:

Forgot Reddick was still out there. Should be a good signing for one year.
