Bucs Re-Sign Ben Bredeson

March 10th, 2025

No. 68 will return for his second Bucs season.

It’s a three-year deal for Ben Bredeson. The Bucs are bringing back their starting left guard for the long haul.

Sara Walsh of NFL Network reports Bredeson’s deal has a max value of $22 million.

What a no-brainer for the Bucs, a team that values its offensive line like perhaps none other in the NFL.

This is the first giant contract for Bredeson, who was a 2020 fourth-round pick of the Ravens. He quickly moved on to the Giants where he played center and guard. The Bucs signed him as a free agent last year on a one-year, $3 million deal.

In 2025, the Bucs will not have a starting offensive linemen over 27 years old, and they won’t have a rookie starter, either, barring injury.

Ok good. Keep the line together

  2. Seanbuc76 Says:

Cool now can we please address edge rush?

  3. Bucfan Says:

He did a very nice job with helping the running game. Glad they were able to keep him.

  4. Simeon4HOF Says:

Ok, our backup C as well. Now what about our WR and a Pass Rusher

  5. Towered Says:

Consistency where it really matters for a very reasonable price. Smart move.

  6. SlyPirate Says:

    Cool.

Max value and actual value are sometimes worlds apart for QBs and WRs deals. I wonder what incentives they can put on OL contract?

Games played, Snaps played, Penalties, Team win/loss, Playoffs. What else?

Sacks given up can be subjective.

  7. Overpaying Says:

Why are we overpaying right now? Lavonte gets a pass, he’s a legend here. But bredeson shouldn’t have been paid more than 5-6 million a year. There was like 5 guards who graded out better than Bredeson in free agency with contract projections of only 5-6 million.

  8. Rastaferian Jenkins Says:

Great contract. Solid price for a young, solid enough player. He did well and has positional versatility. Now an extension for Goedeke and we have O-line set in stone for the next three years

  9. ElioT Says:

Nice!!! A lot of weird s**t going on in the NFL – I like it when the Bucs fly under the radar.

I would like to see a big swing for a pass-rusher and resign CG14.

    Lets go!

  10. Saskbucs Says:

It all starts up front. Happy to have the band back together.

Now about the other line… or front 5 …

  11. Mike Johnson Says:

Great News. Now come Bucs, Shock us with a great DE acquisition.

  12. Tucker Says:

Yup jts resign incoming so versitale they don’t even care if he rushes the passer.

  13. BuccaDAWG Says:

That’s a smart move, a young strong O-line that can grow up togather now draft a day 2 or 3 guy for depth ,there’s alot of talent & value O-line in this draft

  14. tgoodwin Says:

    Yay!! NOW< GODWIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. DBS Says:

But I remember someone stating. He definitely Will Not be Re-Signed.

  16. HC Grover Says:

    Sounds good

  17. LongtimeLkldBuc Says:

Great job guys!! He was my #3 to resign.
Of course Godwin is #1 and we got #2 in Lavonte.
Four through Seven…Nelson, Gaines, Hainsy and Brice Hall.

  18. Kenton Smith Says:

Overpaying you know not of which you speak. Bredeson is an absolute natural for the Team. Natural leader, great locker room guy, loves the game. We saved enough with Chris to pay for Bredeson. Great day so far! Now I’m going to read up a bit on this Reddick character!!

  19. Overpaying Says:

Kenton, yeah I wrote that before we resigned Godwin. Glad to see we got him back on a hometown discount, I’m glad we didn’t have to over spend on everyone . I didn’t know you hangout with bredeson though, maybe he’ll let you get some of that extra money we gave him.

  20. JTHV Says:

JTHV told you people Bredeson was going nowhere but some of ya’ll just spew your Madden IQ nonsense masquerading as actual football knowledge.

You don’t need 5 Pro-Bowl players along the O-Line to be dominant.

    Great Job Licht!

  21. Todd Bowls Says:

This tells me (1) Baker wants him
    (2) Klein is not ready for Prime time
    (3) Hainsey is gone so Brederson is the back up center.

  22. Jeff Says:

$7 million per year! Wow! He’s a $3M max dude.

  23. Overpaying Says:

And I just realized Joe said a max value of 22 million. So if his base is between 5-6 million and he has incentives that can reach 22, I think that would be fair. But at 3 year 22 mil for base pay, I think we could’ve upgraded for that price, it is what it is though, not a huge deal especially with Godwin giving us a big discount

  24. Teacherman Says:

    So dumb. Way too expensive.

  25. GoneGator Says:

    Great move by the FO.
Brededon is smart, tough, consistent. Solid piece for the O-line that insures continuity.

  26. Beeej Says:

The way it scrolls on my phone I see the response, then I see who typed it after. The names always seem to fit the response

  27. gotbbucs Says:

I’ll wait to see what the actual contract structure is, but i don’t see Brederson as being worth $7 million per year. I understand the move, but from a value perspective, not a big fan.
Between this and Godwin re-signing, the offense better hit the ground running on opening day. No excuses.
