Morning Cup Of Joe
March 10th, 2025Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.
Did Keon Coleman drop in last year’s draft because he kept hoarding team snacks at his combine interviews? So the guy was hungry, bring him across the street to Steak n’ Shake. [PFT]

North Carolina damn near hired Artie Smith over Bill Belichick. What the hell is wrong with people? Yes, you read that right. Yes, these people walk among us. Dear God. Next thing you know, someone might hire Raheem Morris over Belichick. [BSPN]
New York Giants are good with Aaron Rodgers’ Pat McAfee appearances. Oh? [Awful Announcing]
Michael Gallup coming out of retirement. Translation: Wifey is upset her tennis club membership got canceled and she can no longer make weekly visits to Galleria Dallas. [SI]
MLB shot-caller Rob Manfred is squeezing Stu Sternberg to sell the Rays before he fully destroys the Rays new stadium plans in St. Petersburg. In fact, Manfred has already rounded up two potential ownership groups ready to buy the Rays. Both groups are Tampa-based and both want to take advantage of the new stadium proposal in St. Petersburg. One group is headed by the family of Eddie DeBartolo as well as a former Yankees minority owner. [The Athletic]
Joe has no idea why all these hollering shows on TV prattle on and on and on and on about the non-basketball association when those games can’t even pull more eyeballs than NASCAR. Seriously, NASCAR gets more people watching than the non-basketball association. Joe sort of gets why BSPN heavy pants over that outfit but not FOX. The Murdoch clan does not own any rights to broadcast non-basketball association games but does have NASCAR. Have you ever seen any of the hollering shows on FS1 discussing NASCAR or even baseball, aside from maybe Pete Rose topics? (Yes, FOX also has rights to MLB). Weird strategy, pumping up properties on a rival’s network but ignoring your own. [Front Office Sports]

Carlton Davis wants to get paid market value? I see him as “Jamel Light” They both get injured way too often. We had three starting CBs in 2023. Carlton, Jamel and Zyon because Carlton and Jamel had trouble staying on the field. Carlton needs to factor that in when he goes looking for a new deal. He may not get what he thinks he’s worth.
Re: the red Chinese, I hadn’t heard this before, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all. This girl is a patriot. If this is true, the USA needs to take serious steps to prevent our power grid from being sabotaged.
As for the Olympic snowboarder, I saw something about this a couple of days ago. This guy is bad news. Allegedly… importing hard drugs including fentanyl into the U.S., ties to the Mexican cartels, and murder. Again, allegedly.
On a brighter note, love Baldy’s Breakdowns and hope we see a lot more of his breakdowns of Bucs plays and players this coming season!

I wonder if Biden rescinded that EO or if his staff stamped his signature on it while he was napping at the beach.

That motorcycle landing in the back of the truck is lucky. Looks like he was probably swerving around traffic going too fast, like half the motorcycles do.
Hopefully Trump and the administration knows this and track down those transformers. That is not surprising… The military banned the use of thumb drives from China back in the 1990s Because they were uploading software, that would gather information
I have not been able to watch the NBA for the last 15 years. Steph Curry made it exciting for a little bit but now it is zero traveling, zero defense, and nothing but 3s. It is boring as hell. Records are falling constantly because they literally play defense as good as an all star game.
Draymond Green talks a good game about defense, but he would be average prior to 2005.
