“Boiling On The Inside”

So what’s rookie Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard really like?

Joe’s been learning more about that at the NFL Scouting Combine this week.

Grizzard’s replacement Liam Coen talked about him, as did Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, Grizzard’s mentor in Miami.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles dove in during his visit to the Ira Kaufman Podcast.

“I think he’s very intelligent, No. 1,” Bowles said of Grizzard. “He’s very innovative and creative. He won’t just sit there and rest off of last year’s laurels. He’ll get better. As far as tweaking some things and becoming better offensively, he’s not shy to ask questions over things he does not know. He will use [Kevin] Carberry and [Brian] Picucci in the run game to help him decipher it that way. And he had a very calm demeanor even though he’s boiling on the inside. I think he can handle the pressure and call the games that way and still go for the jugular. I like his aggressiveness as well as being smart. There’s no such thing as a slam dunk right now, but I think it will help him and benefit him going forward.”

So it seems Grizzard is on fire beneath his chill vibe. Joe likes that.

Joe hopes the Bucs find edge rushers boiling on the inside, too.

I’m sorry but that picture makes him look like a young Carl Spackler.

  2. Aqualung Says:

I’ll bet he feels that boiling a lot when watching his offense claw out a lead with 25+ points only to watch his boss/counterpart regurgitate the lead away complete with noisy gagging sounds.

Answer for that is to put the right foot to the floor

And I’ll bet more than a few DC’s heard his comments about throwing down field and wanting more splash plays. He’s getting in their heads already, LOL. Smart dude.

Is Grizz the next HC of the NYG, Browns, or Cardinals?

  6. Gipper Says:

Mayfield carries these OC’s to head coaching jobs. No QB has ever experienced annual OC changing of the guard like Baker. Through it all, Baker excels. The only time in his NFL career he hasn’t excelled is the 2021 season when he played the entire season with a busted up shoulder. After 2025, Bucs will want to renegotiate Baker’s contract keeping him in Tampa for the rest of the decade.

  7. Kenton Smith Says:

Baker is a heck of a football player but not so much a poker player. He can’t hold a poker face because he’s ecstatic about finally getting the chance to be with the right organization. My guess is if we take care of him like we have been he will take care of us.

  8. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

Sounds good, I hope he does even better than both of the last two, kinda like ole Leftwich with a ring.
