“Six Wins And Some Positive Signs”
October 2nd, 2010NFC South beat writer Pat Yasinskas, who is employed by the that fancy Disney sports outfit, was chatting with his followers Friday and offered an opinion on Raheem Morris’ job security.
For Yasinskas, Morris only has to finish the season out 4-9 with some good things happening to earn a return trip to One Buc Place next year. Yasinskas spit out this take during a live chat on ESPN.com.

What record keeps Raheem Morris’ job? 8-8? Go Penn State!
Pat Yasinskas:
Don’t think it has to even be that good. I think six wins and some positive signs mean he stays
Joe’s unsure how the employment landscape might have changed for Raheem after opening the season 2-0. The Bucs have four very winnable home games remaining, Seattle, Detroit, Carolina and St. Louis.
Taking those — and only those — would give the Bucs six wins and give them a winning record at home. Is that enough success for Team Glazer to let Raheem take the young Bucs another step? Has the bar been raised?
There’s really no way to know at this point. But Joe would specualte that barring a serious injury to Josh Freeman, Raheem needs to hit the six-win total. Joe can’t imagine a scenario in which the Bucs finish out the remainder of the season 3-10 and Raheem doesn’t feel the pain of the hot seat after the final whistle.

I don’t think the Biucs are 38-13 worse than than even the Steelers. 3 weird plays gave them 3 TDs. As the season goes on, they will get better and I think they have a good chance against Cinci, but the secondary makes me nervous. It seems tome the Glazers are going to be patient with Morris and give him several years to build what he started.

Raheem Morris won’t get fired even if they lose out…

WE ARE PENN STATE!!!

Anyone seen the tix sales lately? Serial blackouts, community apathy. Rah radio mushmouth Morris does not excite a ticket base. 9-23 over 2 years is horrible under any terms. The only way to excite the bulk of these fans again is to bring in a respected coach with a few big name free agents. Rah rah is a fine secondary coach, nothing more.

I like Raheem, but I think w/o a winning record, he will be fired next year, in a desperate attempt by Glazers to sell tickets.

8 wins

I figure the team will “stay the course” for 3 years. Depending on what happens next year will determine the outcome of the Morris coaching future.

Thomas, who only reappears to post the odd negative comment says:

Thomas, step outside your world of hate for a second. The economy is the reason for low ticket sales (decline started in 07), as Joe noted in an article right below this one. Man, you need therapy — NOW!

Thomas used to post daily. Back in June and July. He predicted we would not win a game. He said this team would be a complete failure , and Raheem would be fired by week three. He actually guaranteed we wouldn’t score a touchdown! He’s been proven to be the town fool- lmao.if you want to see the most pathetic and the stupidest of the haters- ladies and Gentlemen- Thomas. He’s a real idiot! I think the speculation may prove pointless, as I believe this team will win more than Six games this year, again, unless Freeman misses major time. I think the Bucs will be very good in most of their remaining games, and only the worst fan element( Rahdomthe racist) will think Morris shouldn’t return

Six wins=COMPLETE JOKE
Considering we started 2-0, 6 wins would actually be a pretty bad collapse in my opinion. That’s 4-10 to finish the season! And with the Lions, Rams, Seahawks, and Lions being on the schedule, there’s no excuse. What will happen when we face REAL teams next year?? F.Y.I we’re playing the AFC South next year guys (Texans, Colts, Titans, etc..). Just a few of the teams that will challenge us next year!!

Blame the economy and not 3-13, go ahead. That thinking will ensure empty stadiums and blackouts. Cowher will fill the stadium in days- in this economy.
As I’ve said – just b/c u argued for the prior hc to be fired doesn’t mean u have to fall in love with the next guy If he goes 3-13.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:56 pm
Thomas if Bill Cowher was here right this very minute the Stadium would still not sell out. Wake up and smell the blackouts kiddo.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:34 pm
I don’t think they would be selling out the stadium even if they hired Cowher to coach, signed Anquan Boldin AND Brandon Marshall at WR, and hired Hugh Heffner to provide the halftime entertainment.
Now, if they have a winning team (which at the moment they do), and ticket prices that were reasonable in the current market (which they don’t), and parking and concessions at reasonable prices (which they don’t), they might fill the stadium. But, reasonable in this market would be tickets for $10 – $100, parking for $10, and concession prices rivaling McDonalds ($5 – $7 for a sandwich, side and drink… instead of just the drink). That won’t happen, and blackouts will continue.

bambam: They were 2-0 and didnt sell out against pittsburgh you idiot! the community realizes that this rah-dom charade is just that!
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:56 pm
oh yea, its the cost of a hotdog as to why nobody cares about this fairly promising group of kids being led by the most embarrassing excuse for a nfl hc in decades!
October 2nd, 2010 at 11:11 pm
The Pittsburgh game was as close to a sellout as it gets. They may have said it wasn’t or maybe they missed the deadline, but the place was packed. You obviously weren’t there, and next time you call someone an idiot, look in the mirror first. I thought Joe got rid of all of you haters, venom spewers. I guess not. At this rate it won’t be long though.

thomas…. notice the AND after the “winning record” comment. It means “in addition to” or “including the following statement”. In which I go on to say that even with a winning record, they’d need to reduce ticket/parking/concession prices to match the economy. Regardless of what you think of the head coach, most fans just want to see their team win, but even when they’re winning, fans won’t go if they can’t afford the price. That’s the current situation…. fans can’t afford the cost. Not only that, a lot of fans are lazy, and wouldn’t pay the ticket price unless the teams came to their house and played in their living room while they sat on their couch and drank cheap beer.
I’m really starting to think I’m luckier living in Colorado. I never have a Bucs game blacked out on DirecTV, I can still get to a game or two every year or so. I don’t have to deal with opposing fans filling the stadium (like they did at the Steelers game, and the Eagles game a few years ago it was just as bad, and I’ve heard that’s not out of the ordinary in other games). I can be a fan of the team without all the idiots out there thinking they know more about running an NFL team than the Owners, GM, or Coach.

Edited for needless insult of Thomas
October 3rd, 2010 at 9:45 am
Here’s a stretch…or not. Raheem could go 2-14 this year and he would STILL have a job next season. Why?
Because he’s cheap and there will be no football next year. That’s why. So as much as hte media tries to generate news itself, they are wrong…and they probably know it…only saying so does not make the news.
October 3rd, 2010 at 4:29 pm
Lol- hey Joe, what the Heck!! You didn’t edit him this summer when he was calling JimBuc an idiot and worse! He dished it out, he should be able to take it. Especially since he was the one that was wrong!! Is he crying or threatening suicide already?? It’s a long season!! He spent three months insulting and degrading Bucfans, let him sleep in his bed- he made it!! Besides, it’s fun!
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:17 pm
yeah i agree with thomas . how dare this young green coach come in here with these green players and win 2 games and lose to a weak team like pitt.how dare this young coach win three games last year with a rookie quarterback when we no aikman manning went strait to the playoffs.how dare morris only win three games with all the talent he had,he should have won four like gruden when he had brooks, rice, june ,we expect more from him /after all he is only a secondaries coach and he was left such a great team, bruce allen and gruden made sure of that /c/oakland.

Lol- careful Mike, you might get edited!! Pay back is a bitch, but apparently that Lil ass Thomas is getting a pass !
October 4th, 2010 at 8:14 am
Joe here,
Capt. Tim – Your edited comment had nothing to do with Thomas. You offered absolutlely nothing of substance in the comment and simply insulted another poster. That doesn’t fly, assuming Joe sees it.
