Report: Gronk Mulling NFL Return

February 25th, 2025

So a Hall of Fame tight end who loves Tampa, has a business in Tampa and works out with Baker Mayfield wants to play again, per a new report. This didn’t stun Joe because Rob Gronkowski dropped on a podcast last week.

In fact, the screenshot photo above is from when Gronk was talking about how he’s working out harder now than he did as a player.

The chatter came on the Dudes On Dudes podcast, which Gronk co-hosts. Gronk said talked about making a football comeback but it wasn’t serious chatter.

Well, that appears to have changed. A credible report out of Denver today says Gronk is considering a return to the NFL and likes what the Broncos are doing and he has a relationship with Sean Payton.

Joe thinks Gronk would look fantastic in a Bucs uniform. If forced to choose, Joe would prefer Gronk wearing pewter and red in 2025 over Jamel Dean.

    Come on back Gronk

  2. acey Says:

Do we need Gronk? Our TE room is already pretty log-jammed with Culp and Durham behind Otton.

  3. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

So, do we own any rights to Gronk?

  4. Tbbucs3 Says:

Maybe we can also re-sign former Bucs greats Julio Jones, Richard Sherman, Shady McCoy and Leveon Bell while we’re at it?

Pass…focus on developing the young guys.

  5. Pickgrin Says:

Oh man – that would be amazing if Gronk came back to the Bucs – even for 1 season.

Pretty sure the Bucs still hold his rights – so…..

Adding even an aging Gronkowski to this offense would really boost this 2025 Buccaneers team’s chances of getting to a Super Bowl.

Do it Gronk! You’ve got one more season in ya…… Put an exclamation mark on that 1st ballot HOF career by helping us win another Lombardi trophy.

  6. Lol Says:

Hes going to be 36 in May. Sure i’d love to see Gronk back but this teams has other holes that need filled first, second and third.

He has not been as productive in his late years as Lavonte David’s been. Primarily due to injury, but still.

Bucs cant pay him a ton but id love to see it

  7. heyjude Says:

I would love to see Gronk back on the Bucs, not the Broncos. However, he should just enjoy life and everything else he has going on now. Or, how about he and Tom do the sport analyst gig together in the booth next season. Maybe bring Jules into it too. Thinking that would be fun to watch.

  8. FilthyAnimal Says:

Gronk over Dean is a no-brainer.

  9. GoneGator Says:

Our TE room is looking good to me assuming what I saw from Culp @ years end wasn’t just a flash. He seems to be bigger/stronger than early on and showed good hands. If he can hold his on blocking he could turn out to be another A+ draft pick.

36 is mighty old for a tight end too.

We have A LOT of other needs before TE.

If I were calling the shots I wouldn’t be very interested in Gronk.

  10. BucsFan81 Says:

If Gronk comes back I don’t think it will be for the Bucs. I could see him in Buffalo though with a real contender and I think he is from up there.

  11. FilthyAnimal Says:

Gronk was still effective in his last season. He’s a little bit of a freak of nature, so it wouldn’t totally surprise me if he came back and did some damage with someone. I like our top 3 TEs and they’re all still young. I wouldn’t wanna get rid of any of them for a 36 year old Gronk, but if they felt like carrying 4 TEs was something they could work with, I’d love to see him in Pewter.

  12. pepsi Says:

I put this at about 1% chance – highly doubt Gronk is serious. He fought tooth and nail to give us everything he had left in his body, hes not coming back at 35/36 needing to put on weight again to go smash around with young DEs..

  13. Permanently Moderated Says:

He’d be crazy to do it, but you never know. Too bad it’s Denver he’s interested in.

  14. JimBobBuc Says:

Bring back Gronk! Then trade Otton and Durham for a killer edge rusher!

  15. Usfbucs Says:

Gronk is great but I would pass on him too. As others have said we have a solid, young TE room. None of them are peak Gronk but they are all solid.

  16. HC Grover Says:

    Brady will snap him up.

  17. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

Hyperbole… fish full thinking. But I do like it. A lot. The man can block, and he has such soft hands. Sign him up!

  18. Peter Says:

    We own the rights
    Trade him to Denver

  19. Pewter Power Says:

Seriously Gronk! You like what Denver is doing? You like the idea of playing with a second year quarterback in a division dominated by the Kansas City chiefs?

  20. alfred Says:

Gronk is a podcast called, “DUDES ON DUDES”?????? No wonder he became a TIGHT END!

  21. lambchop Says:

    @JimBobBuc,

Bro, what? Let the younger guys go to rent a TE?

  22. garro Says:

Remember when Jim Brown tried to come back at 47 ? I was rooting for the dude but… Tyson’s… comeback? My comeback? LOL All failed.

Give it a shot big man but I hate to watch the great ones who have lost it. Joe Namath crippled on two bad legs comes to mind. Makes me sad.

    Go Bucs!

  23. RustyRhinos Says:

At 36 and many years of TE abuse, is it any wonder why Gronkl is working out harder than he did as a player?

If Gronk comes back to play in the NFL, It would be with the Raiders, and he would get to work with Brady again…

As for letting go of our young TEs, for a 36-year-old Gronk. No. We cut our young TEs and Gronk pulls a Hammy or any other injury in game 2. What do we do then? No thanks. If we get him back and do not cut any of our TEs sure. He should not be an every-down player, so we do not wear him out before the season is done.

    GO!!!!!BUCS!!!!!

  24. William Walls Says:

I dunno. I Just checked and it looks like he had zero catches last year, so…
