Tristan Wirfs Returns To Training, Rehab On Monday
February 8th, 2025Most offensive lineman take a beating through a season.
That includes Bucs All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs, who sprained his knee early in November against the 49ers and also dealt with an ankle issue.
So Wirfs has been enjoying rest and relaxation since the Bucs’ season ended but that extended chill ends next week.
“I’ll start training on Monday, slowly get back into it, moving around,” Wirfs told WDAE. “Getting back in the rehab and everything. Feeling good. It’s nice to take a little time off.”
Joe’s glad it sounds like Wirfs doesn’t have any lingering issues.
And Wirfs will have his training buddy waiting for him, Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke. Per Wirfs, Goedeke already has resumed mauling in the gym.
Joe can only imagine how jacked up Goedeke will be entering the final year of his rookie contract.

How is it even possible that 3 Tackles came off the board before this guy???
Man, those teams have got to be kicking themselves… While Jason reaches in his pocket to rub his lucky rabbit’s foot every time he thinks about having gotten the chance to move up one spot and draft this future HOFer….

Good for him It’s kind of crazy that he’s already starting a train for the following season but that’s why he’s an all pro #Greatness

As long as his medicals look good – extend Goedke this offseason. Don’t wait until he has a chance to hit the market. Wait until next offseason and the price goes up, and they lose cap space to keep others. The Cowboys and Bengals have done things that way and it’s wrecking their ability to contend.

Crazy to imagine, but I think the Offensive line will even be better next year. Can’t wait to see all the holes opening up for Bucky.

I hope he has a healthy off season, seems the ankle gets tweaked since it happen in the 2nd season. He still stays all pro and very young, gotta make the most of him.

Agree Wirfs was a steal for sure!! There is another Buc who might have been an even larger steal. Bucky in the FOURTH round still amazes me! I think Jason picked up another “value” pick, if not to the degree of Wirfs or Bucky, and that JMac. The last half of the season in games that really counted JMac simple balled out. Imagine if CG14 comes back healthy! ME13 looked great in the playoff game as if is hammy is finally healed. A solid off season will help that hammy as well.
If Jason can now find some “steals” for the defensive side the Bucs are golden.

spbf – Licht got one steal on defense last draft – Tykee Smith late in the 3rd rd. Dude is going to be a baller in Tampa Bay for many years….
Full disclosure – I wanted us to draft a Guard with one of those two late 3rd rd picks (JMac was selected 3 slots after Smith – that was the ‘extra” pick we got from the Lions for Davis btw…) but was happy in retrospect we got the players we did – as Bredeson was better than I expected and held his own at LG.

I love assisting Jason 🙂 Glad he listens to me sometimes. Ive pushed for quite a few, yall know it. Especially Wirfs and Bucky, Barton, Big V, Godwin, Winfield Jr…Marpet back in the day….had a stinker here and there…Logan Hall is finally coming around…DW didnt pan out but he was a beast in our SB win.
Now Im pushing for:
Emmanwori
Shavon Revel
Cam Skattebo (if hes there when we pick 3rd, might have to trade up a little)
And theres a UCLA LB Carson Schwesinger I’d like to have if one of the first two dont make it to us.
February 8th, 2025 at 2:24 pm
I wanted Javon Bullard, but knew he would be gone in the 2nd, so Jason gets his teammate, Tykee….its beautiful.

It should be an interesting off-season. After tomorrow, only one team’s fan base is happy. I have to remind myself of that. When the time comes hopefully this off-season, a full time defensive coordinator should be announced. Since there’s no news about a search, it would be a promotion from within.
The truth is that ain’t happening because upon self reflection, the Head Coach will approve of the bend over and break style of pass defense his Defensive Coordinator calls, and will work even harder to teach his D-linemen haw to drop into pass coverage even deeper.
February 8th, 2025 at 3:24 pm
Mad Max … how you stack up that Schwesinger vs Campbell and Paul Jr? Are those the top 3 ILB? There is one other name I have been seeing that I can’t recall.
With my extremely limited prospect knowledge, I currently hope for this in early rounds.
1st- Edge Mike Green
2nd – ILB any of the 3 listed above
3rd – CB/S
FSU CB Thomas and Emmanwori seem like decent targets but likely not there in 3rd. Possibly flip round 2 and 3 if one of those ILB more likely to be available in round 3.

I don’t get the Skattebo mania..
Admittedly, I haven’t seen him play much. Looked to me like he got pretty gassed in his last playoff game.
Sean Tucker is the same size (+\-) with the same skill set.

Yes indeed I had forgotten about Tykee. He’s going to be a very good player for the Bucs.
Jason had a killer draft last time, perhaps setting the bar too high for realistic expectations this time around. But if he has another solid draft on the D side I think the Bucs may surprise some people.
What I like about the “new” Bucs is they’re shooting for PHYSICAL. I love physical teams!
February 8th, 2025 at 4:24 pm
@Sask, you’re probably referring to Jalon Walker, another great prospect. Schwesinger just sticks out more to me because of his high football IQ, his build, fluidity and just the way he diagnosis whats in front of him, and predicts as it happens. I think 19 is high for him, but if Emmanwori is gone (probably, just wait until you see him kill the combine) I wouldnt have a problem with him….maybe trade down a little, then pick him up. Then grab Revel in the 2nd.
February 8th, 2025 at 4:27 pm
And Yes, I like Mike Green….but im done with drafting edge…we obviuosly suck at it or Todd’s scheme doesnt allow them to rush, so i give up.
This years 1st, next years 2nd for Myles? I’ll go with that…but it wont happen.
February 8th, 2025 at 4:58 pm
“All-Pro”
“I’ll be starting on Monday”.
That’s why he’s an all-pro. We are so lucky to have Tristan on our team!
February 8th, 2025 at 5:21 pm
Thinking about drafting vs. free agency, I was struck by an interview with Andrew Whitworth on NFL Daily this week, where he talked about the Rams decisions to trade Kupp and potentially Stafford to be able to grow steadily (and affordably) from within. Making me wonder if swinging for the fences for Myles Garrett would be worth it or if we aim for a good draft and maybe a not as expensive free agent. (I’ve heard some talk of Trey Hendrickson or Khalil Mack.)

Its ok Jmark, he was sick, and after he threw up he got back into the game and did very well. I know RB is a luxury at this point but I dont want to see Bucky run into the ground or worse. Since we’re going with the run so much then get him some serious help. Tucker is fine, he’ll be with us.
February 8th, 2025 at 6:21 pm
Wirth performed well, but his slide/ shuffle looked hesitant to me for the last part of the season.
I hope that the rehab is top notch and that he recovers completely!
February 8th, 2025 at 6:21 pm
this years 1st, next years 2nd, RB White, CB Dean and maybe some fodder 5th or 6th for Myles….i stop there.
February 8th, 2025 at 6:30 pm
tristan working out means:
-carrying tree trunks
-jumping out of pools
-whoopin’ azzes at the local bars if someone doesn’t like the bucs
🙂

“This years 1st, next years 2nd for Myles? I’ll go with that…but it wont happen.”
Exactly! Myles Garrett is in a seller’s position. Teams are already clamoring. An example is Micah Parsons offering the Cowboys a chance to get a better deal with him if they pick up Garrett. TWO major sack artists on one D! Joe will die from envy.
Bottom line for me is that he is ONE player and the price is going up not down.
Outside of QB or perhaps someone like Saquon Barkely it’s just hard for me to believe ONE GUY is all that, especially when the Bucs are already top ten in sacks. Will moving up to top five really make that much difference, or would getting someone with DW45’s talent, like the kid from Bama along with a cover corner like Davis or Dean BUT not fragile! BTW the Lions are set to let Davis walk in free agency even though he played well. Again injuries.
February 8th, 2025 at 7:23 pm
We hope to keep Bredeson and Opeta or I can’t remember one other gaurd. Knees are a pretty though thing as we Buc fans no. I Mike Green sounds good for sure!! We bout to linebackerless if Lavonte hangs em up. No matter how good someone could be on the field, if they can’t stay healthy it’s time to part ways and bring in something that may have the ability to perform really well right now. If Jason Licht comes up with another draft like the last few we’ll be good. Let’s Go Bucs!!!!
February 8th, 2025 at 7:35 pm
Remember when people were complaining that we traded up to take Wirfs. He’s the best tackle in the league and he was playing one leg the last half of the previous 2 seasons.
Jihaad Campbell if the top pass rushers are gone. Otherwise, there are good 2nd and 3rd round linebackers that can start right away.
February 8th, 2025 at 7:37 pm
I would love Myles but we could probably get Hendrickson for a 2nd or a 3rd with something extra. He will come slightly cheaper contract wise.
February 8th, 2025 at 7:55 pm
Just curious for the draft Myles proponents. I hear ya and you guys make sense to a point. Most of us who are hestitant just think the price is too steep.
But since this all started and I read about the clash between two #1 overall picks, Baker and Garrett and who won out (there can only be ONE rooster in the barn) I’m leery of Garrett.
Do we really believe these two former enemies on the same team as both vied for leadership, will not clash again? Especially if LVD retires!
February 8th, 2025 at 8:50 pm
Thats in the past, im sure the maturity in both has moved on and will welcome each other.
February 9th, 2025 at 3:48 am
We have too many holes to fill. No way should we give up that kind of capital for one player who doesn’t play QB
February 9th, 2025 at 4:45 am
Love Tristan! Glad he got some time to relax. He definitely has a great attitude and strong work ethic.
