Jaguars Play-By-Play Voice Demands Team Make Another Run At Liam Coen Today
January 22nd, 2025Jaguars radio play-by-play man Frank Frangie let loose on his 92.5 FM radio show in Jacksonville today.
Frangie is outraged that Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen passed on a second interview to be Jaguars head coach today and stuck with the Bucs… And then and then Jacksonville fired its general manager, Trent Baalke, hours later.
“This one rattled me,” Frangie said of today’s Jaguars events.
Frangie ordered his big bosses with the team to pick up the phone and call Coen.
As seasoned NFL fans know well, coaches’ contracts often mean little and there’s always a price to tear one up.
Frangie said he would hire Hall of Fame Jaguars left tackle Tony Boselli immediately for their vacant general manager gig — and he expects it to happen. He said Boselli, who is tight with Jags ownership, is an ideal fit and a high-energy postive guy that could recruit Coen.
“The minute [Boselli] gets the job, I going to call him and tell him to make a run back at Liam Coen,” he said.
Frangie said his sources told him young coaches around the NFL were spooked by Baalke because of the respect they have for fired Jags coach Doug Pederson. Apparently, they feel like if Pederson couldn’t last in Jacksonville and Baalke turned on him, they want no part it.
Joe expects Coen will do the smart thing and stay with the Bucs.
What’s he going to do? Tear up his fat new raise for a chance to meet the Jaguars in person for the first time with no guarantees? That would make no sense.
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:34 pm
Maybe they can make a run at Urban Meyer?
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:36 pm
Coen can always be an OC again. He might never get the chance to be HC.
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:36 pm
Too late he already hired by us.
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:37 pm
Well that would suck.

Too late he already hired by us.

That’s not how it works. If he’s getting a promotion to head coach, his deal in Tampa, even the one he signed today, means nothing.
Jacksonville firing their GM right after the Bucs announced the new deal is very concerning, since rumors are the Jags GM was a roadblock for pretty much all top candidates wanting that job.
The next interview the Jags have is for the guy the Jets fired during the season, that’s how far down the coaching ladder they’re going, so I would not discount at all the Jags are going to come back with more money and telling him he can pick his own GM, etc.
Hopefully the Bucs gave him a deal that is good enough to withstand this additional temptation. And, to be sure, I think that is the likely outcome, but it’s not as slam dunk as it seemed a few hours ago.
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:42 pm
Boselli was a big supporter of Baalke.
And I don’t think Coen wants the optics of telling the Jags no and recommitting to us only to turn around and bolt anyway.
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:46 pm
Jags can hire KingsBerry the Washington OC as coach
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:47 pm
He is actually better prepared than Coen.
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:48 pm
Nothing can stop Coen if he chooses to take a higher position and opt for the Jaguar’s Head coaching job. With that said, I would think Coen is the type of person who would honor his commitment. If he accepted the Bucs new offer to stay with the team, then I think he will honor the Glazers. After all, they have been nothing but supportive and fair to Coen.
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:53 pm
Coen, like anybody else, has one reputation. He is not going to sully his reputation and go back on his word. Everybody needs to chill out.
January 22nd, 2025 at 4:54 pm
He’s not going anywhere near that mess in Jacksonville. He’s not dumb
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:05 pm
Coen or anyone wants to go work at the dumpster fire
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:06 pm
Jags should poach Bowles.
I’m just being humorous.
No one wants the Bowel movement except the Joes!
Hahahahahahahaha!!!
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:09 pm
Wow what a classless jerk Frangie must be. A man signs a deal but this goober thinks his people should do their best to get a guy to NOT HONOR his contract.
The ooze is sliming us all the way across the state from Jax. What a major bum!
For those too young to have seen Wall Street and Micheal Douglas (Gordon Gecko) famous speech. Some here will sadly support these thoughts. Oliver Stone created the film to show the EVIL of greed and lack of charachter and morality!
“The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed in all of its forms. Greed for life, money, love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind,”
Gordon Gecko meet Frank Fangie!
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:15 pm
If Coen says he’s staying then he’s staying.

Coen is like the 1st person you would pick to be on your team and Bowels would be the last!
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:26 pm
Silly man. I’ve dealt with many radio announcers throughout my life even fired a handful (never a pleasant experience). They are not generally for their business acumen or even their everyday intelligence.
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:36 pm
Sounds like Florida’s losing franchise are sore losers lol
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:36 pm
one would think shacksonville just proved to be that much more of a quicksand mess with the instant upheaval of baalski
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:40 pm
You can tell Jacksonville is a dysfunctional organization. You wait till now to fire your GM who many around the league didn’t trust and didn’t care much for. Also if it’s true that they’re just fixated with Coen put me at a lost of words especially with so many young bright offensive minds out there. seems that a few of those available don’t seem to be interested in the job
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:42 pm
Is an OC’s even allowed to take a HC job in the same year they have signed a fresh new contract? Seems like next year should be the earliest, if he has already signed the new contract.
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:46 pm
Yes but it is a whole new dynamic and Coen could be swept off his feet with the second encounter
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:46 pm
Jags are a dumpster fire. From now on they should be called Jets South (or NY South because the Giants are a dumpster fire too) like the Bucs were Cleveland South during the lost decade.
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:50 pm
The Baalke drama is a clear indication that the Jags are: a) dysfunctional and b) desperate. Given the latter, they may make an over-the-top push to reverse the decision Liam made earlier today.
Until Coen actually signs the deal to stay with the Bucs, this is not over.
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:56 pm
They should have given contract extensions to the running backs coaches and the offensive line coaches. What have Coen did to get a new contract.
January 22nd, 2025 at 5:56 pm
Called it earlier this week about Coen looking at the Jags GM and Doug. Makes perfect sense. Good for the owner of the Jags to finally realize what everyone else was seeing. Good for the Jags. Now we’ll see if their QB can step up… providing they get someone good to coach.
Great great timing for the Bucs.
January 22nd, 2025 at 6:06 pm
Next season Coen will be the Bucs HC. Bowles is on the final year of his deal. Hand writing is on the wall. Just wondering Joe, did any of Coens assistants get raises?
January 22nd, 2025 at 6:25 pm
They should hire Gus Bradley lol
January 22nd, 2025 at 6:46 pm
Nothing to see here.
Carry on.
Wasted energy.
January 22nd, 2025 at 6:48 pm
As I said before, I still think Coen stays with the Bucs from reading what he said today. A lot of positives in Tampa and he was having fun. Let’s not forget about from what i am hearing , a $4 or $5 million dollars contract and only being responsible for about a 3rd or of the team progress. I think the move JV made this evening by firing their GM is a sign that they have a strong candidate in mind that want to work with his own GM. Maybe J Brady Buffalo’s OC
January 22nd, 2025 at 6:58 pm
Well Glazers stepped up and rewarded Cohen for the job he did. If he does go to Jacksonville then so be it. Nobody knows if he’ll be a good HC or not, heck we’re all basing his job as an OC off a single season in the position, but I can’t blame him if he decides to take the gig. How many times have we seen successful coordinators promoted to HC only to flame out, get fired early, and often get hired to another coordinator gig where they see their star continue to ride for a next go at a HC job. I’m still hoping he stays for at least another season, but there are a decent amount of key offensive pieces on the Jags for an offense-minded coach to work with.
January 22nd, 2025 at 6:59 pm
Liam Coen is a man who will do what he says he’s going to do. He has committed to another season with the Buccaneers and that is exactly what he will do. Have fun speculators !!
Go Bucs 2025 !!
January 22nd, 2025 at 7:06 pm
Saying you trust talk radio is like saying you trust Fox News. Jacksonville is a bottom of the barrel franchice. And the fact that Coen was not sought after by any other franchise tells you all you need to know. He is not yet ready to be a head coach in the NFL. He needs to build up a longer resume. The body of work is good. It’s just not long or thick enough. Do you think he wants to go through something akin to what happened in Carolina this year. Five wins?
January 22nd, 2025 at 7:18 pm
Anyway we can get more articles about Liam ? 🤣
January 22nd, 2025 at 7:23 pm
What about the goat’s old coach Billy B. UNC is just a safety blanket he’s desperate to coach but prefers the NFL. He’d cough up the million bucks to exercise his escape clause in a minute!
January 22nd, 2025 at 7:27 pm
For what it’s worth, NFL ‘insiders’ are talking about the Jags making another run at Coen because the GM was fired. Not sure if they’re reporting or just speculating, but I assume they will give it another go. From what I read from Jacksonville sites, the GM was seen as the big roadblock for hiring anyone but the lowest of level of candidates. I assume if we don’t hear anything by tomorrow afternoon, we’re probably safe. Hopefully.
Stay strong Coppertop, count your new millions and don’t listen to that nonsense about one of only 32 jobs – you already have one of only 32 jobs.
January 22nd, 2025 at 7:37 pm
SPBuc, well the Jags now need a GM as well as an HC so the Hoodie does check both of those boxes off as he wants total control of the franchise which is why he was not signed in the ATL.
January 22nd, 2025 at 7:41 pm
Frangie can go chow down on a sack of Richards…
Besides, why would anyone who isn’t totally desperate go anywhere near the Duval Dumpster Fire? Leftwich is out there – lord knows he’ll take it.
January 22nd, 2025 at 8:33 pm
Sure, let’s ignore the biggest Bucs story of the year so far. 🙄
Joe runs a business, not a charity.
January 22nd, 2025 at 8:33 pm
Others are reporting similar stories..read he hasn’t signed a contract extension but had a verbal agreement.
January 22nd, 2025 at 8:39 pm
Love seeing the squalid floundering in misery. LOL
January 22nd, 2025 at 8:53 pm
Coen signing is a very good event for the Bucs.
R-E-L-A-X
January 22nd, 2025 at 9:07 pm
Unlike the Ben Johnson situation, I don’t think Coen returning to Tampa had anything to do with Ballke. He probably just wanted a pay raise and to continue working as OC for now.
January 22nd, 2025 at 9:21 pm
I already knew that they would not ‘give-up’ just that easily, IF he was really THEIR GUY! But, I still say that he would be absolutely insanely CRAZY to take THAT JOB. For just two words… Trent. Baalke. Ew, so they fired him!? Hmmmm… That’s a little scary. Hell, they HAD TO. Honestly, cannot beeelieveee they didn’t immediately, in the first place. It was SO stupid that they didn’t, and it has really hurt them. Could’ve been a very attractive job (even though, I don’t believe Lawrence, especially at that price, is “the man”)… NOW, they just look like they don’t know what the hell they’re doing & are a just one HUGE mess. Would’ve made much better sense to have started over fresh with both, a new GM and HC together… NOW, they’re just scrambling.
January 22nd, 2025 at 9:31 pm
Forget Pederson. Baalke was the guy who ran off Harbaugh outta San Fran, because he was getting ALL the credit, & NOT Baalke. He CRAVES the attention and spotlight, & ‘thought’ it was only because of HIMSELF, and could do it with ANY coach… That, HE built such a great roster that ANYBODY could ‘coach’ that team. Yah, right. He was jealous of Harbaugh.
January 22nd, 2025 at 9:33 pm
Didn’t really expect you to ignore the story. 7 articles on the front page about it/him seems excessive but maybe that’s just me.
Anyway, your site, carry on 👍🏼
January 22nd, 2025 at 9:37 pm
Jacbucsfan, that’s what I was thinking. Coen returning to the Bucs had nothing to do with the GM up JV. If the GM was the problem, why wasn’t that mentioned between Coen and the owner right after the first interview and then a second interview was set up with none of this being mentioned? Jaxbucsfan, I also agree with Coen testing to see if he was worth a big raise from the Bucs
January 22nd, 2025 at 9:56 pm
Don’t let that jerk scare you. He’s not going
January 22nd, 2025 at 10:14 pm
Sounds like the whole situation over in Jacksonville is toxic. No reason to run to that. Yikes! with or without Trent Baallkee it is too risky. Better for Liam Coen to stay in Tampa Bay and make money and learn himself. Jason Licht is an excellent GM and the Glazers are good owners willing to do whatever they need to for their team. Its a good day to be a Buc. Next year Coen may get a better opportunity with the Bucs.
January 22nd, 2025 at 10:16 pm
Was the Jacksonville radio guy named Rick Stroud?
January 22nd, 2025 at 10:25 pm
lol isn’t it nice to have parts of a coaching staff, teams want, and then end up saying thanks, but no thanks 🙂 it feels great to have a stable and respected franchise
January 22nd, 2025 at 10:35 pm
It’s an excellent idea to have more articles about Liam Coen, since he energized the fan base, did wonders to revamp an offense and carry a woeful pass defense all season, and now we’ve signed him to an extension. There’s a lot more meat on the Liam Coen bone to write about and most real Bucs fans are stoked to read about it. Thanks, Joes.
January 22nd, 2025 at 10:40 pm
It’s very interesting though, especially with the Ben Johnson hiring and now with Cohen staying in Tampa Bay (and potentially the next Bucs HC). You have such a contrast between the two Conferences. The AFC is the “QB-Conference,” & The NFC is the “Young Stud (offensive gurus) COACHES-Conference.” Awesome how that has worked out!!!!
January 23rd, 2025 at 12:37 am
LOL AirCasted-BoneBruise! That guy certainly seemed convinced that Liam was Jag bound when you listened to him. For those of you who love Todd Bowles, the guy AirCasted mentioned above is his biggest supporter and lets anyone who will listen, know it.
January 23rd, 2025 at 12:46 am
Chucky to Jax so he can be the man in FL and pounding his chest can never come close to what kind of culture the Bucs have right now from ownership to the janitor.
Chucky years where toxic
January 23rd, 2025 at 1:08 am
Imagine Gene D calling the Glazers and demanding they make personnel moves! LOL this is priceless! What a dumpster fire
January 23rd, 2025 at 1:52 am
Wow, even (Kentucky’s) KSR wrote a story blasting the Jags over Trent Baalke! WHY they we’re trying to retain HIM was beyond everyone’s belief, apparently.
January 23rd, 2025 at 4:57 am
Happily, Coen is staying with the Bucs.
One of Joe’s other posts included an article about Saban saying he would coach in the NFL and not college because of the NILs. Even though the Jags have a defensive coordinator, Saban may do well as the HC or even their GM position. And I think he has a home in FL.
January 23rd, 2025 at 6:45 am
This is a dead issue. Jacksonville looks like a desperate ex here begging for another chance.
January 23rd, 2025 at 12:29 pm
Hey Joe, you’re not running a charity, huh? JBF is a business. Well, duh! 🙂 Stuff like this is clickbait, and oh, soo 21st century $$$$. I like the Jags, and I remember Tony Boselli and the Jax teams he played on. So, this boils down to ownership change. I’ve been a staunch (no bags covering my face) Bucs fan since ’79. I like the jags and Washington, too (DC native). Between the stadium issues, and now this, Jags fans have my sympathy. EXCEPT when they (or anyone else) play my Tampa Bay Bucs! Bucs are gonna be SCARY good next season, mark my words!
January 23rd, 2025 at 12:31 pm
Whoops, here comes the censor algorithm. LOL.
January 23rd, 2025 at 12:46 pm
orlbucfan:
Are you saying the Jags radio voice never said what Joe quoted? If you are pissed at what he said, call his show and unload on him.
Not sure how Joe is the culprit here.
January 23rd, 2025 at 2:01 pm
No, read what I wrote. I did not mention the Jags’ radio voice. I like the team, but know nothing about the Jags’ Radio personalities. I was also joking around how my stuff gets deleted which I think is funny. I’ve been on here since you all started the site, and a devoted Bucs fan long before that.
