“I Keep Hearing ‘Liam Coen'”
January 21st, 2025These are words many Bucs fans don’t want to read.
In a perfect world for these same fans, the Bucs would launch Todd Bowles, fresh off another division title and a 10-win season, to make room for Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen to take over.
Instead, it appears Coen is the leader in the clubhouse to take over a different Florida NFL franchise. That would be the Jags.
Late this afternoon, “Good Morning Football” co-host Peter Schrager, who seems to have contacts within every NFL team, joined the one and only Chris “Mad Dog” Russo for Schrager’s weekly spot heard exclusively on SiriusXM Radio.
There, Schrager uttered the words Bucs fans are dreading:
“I keep hearing ‘Liam Coen,'” Schrager told Russo when Russo asked him about the Jags’ coaching search. “So I’m going to pencil him in.”
However, Schrager told Russo the search is not over. Schrager emphasized Robert Salah has an outside shot of overtaking Coen and landing the job.
Salah, who has a second interview with the Jags scheduled Friday, would fit right in with Jacksonville. Outside of the Jets (and the Bears), there is no more of a rudderless organization than the Jags.
So there you have it, Bucs fans. As the sun sets on this cold Tuesday afternoon, it sure feels that the chances that Coen bolts are better than 50/50.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:03 pm
Fire Bowles
January 21st, 2025 at 6:05 pm
The reason you’re losing Cohen is because the Bears got their rudderđ
January 21st, 2025 at 6:05 pm
Fire Coen
January 21st, 2025 at 6:06 pm
Imo it would be dumb for him to go, we’re a much better organization, but there are only 32 jobs
January 21st, 2025 at 6:07 pm
Hope we play the Jags every year and smash them
January 21st, 2025 at 6:11 pm
Truthfully, anyone would consider themselves lucky to be a coordinator with Bucky Irving, Mike Evans, baker mayfield, and this offensive line. Little Bo peep, could get that bunch of talented self starters in the playoffs, year over year.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:15 pm
Going to lose the latest gem of the McVay tree to keep the old man architect of the 31st ranked pass defense. Make it make sense
January 21st, 2025 at 6:16 pm
I donât want him to go but I am not as pessimistic as some. Bowles has a great argument for his top choices to replace him: you get to work with a good qb, great RB, and great o-line. And by the way, you have LOTS of tape showing the plays these guys are best at. And if you do a good job, youâre going to get a look for HC quickly.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:17 pm
Glazers need to step in and try to keep Coen.
Offer Bowles a front office job, give him some fanfare and hire Coen as HC .
Bowles only won 10 games because of Coen being here
January 21st, 2025 at 6:18 pm
I donât get it if the Bucs let Cohen walk.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:19 pm
I foresee a day that this area regrets letting Coen slip away. Putting together a new offensive system that rose to the top of the league in his first year is no small feat. This is an offensive league and we have the hot young name in house and we are risking the future for the past. TBâs defense sure appears to have been figured out.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:20 pm
If they let him walk, Iâll not watch or attend another game. Letting this dude walk while supporting s .500 coach blows my mind. This is a no brainer.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:22 pm
Fire Bowles or boycott the Bucs.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:24 pm
Why Jacksonville though, doomed to fail. Baalke and Khan are idiots. If he goes screwâem he could wait and coach here a much better situation
January 21st, 2025 at 6:25 pm
As much as Bucs fans hate Coen leaving Bowles should be the one worried. Coen saved his job
January 21st, 2025 at 6:26 pm
Plus thereâs a chance theyâre playing in England in the near future
January 21st, 2025 at 6:26 pm
Jody
Agreed 100%
Coen could be a very successful HC here for a long time.
Why would you let him walk to keep a HC who has never been anything more that mediocre that you will never sniff a Championship with?
Come on Glazers, make a move
January 21st, 2025 at 6:28 pm
If Liam leaves Brian Johnson Commanders no brainer
January 21st, 2025 at 6:28 pm
Must keep Coen at all costs. Fire Bowles if you must. I do hate his defensive philosophy but feel with some select FAs and a strong defensive draft maybe he would reduce his soft a$$ zone pass defense. I am not however confident in this. I am confident in Liam that he will continue to improve the offense. How many games did the defense lose once Baker and the offense tied or went ahead in the game?
Keep in mind a lot of offensive coaches came in with Liam and will likely leave with him and the offense will surely regress. Most of the dedicated fan base are not confident in Bowles and for the great majority, including me, itâs not about the color of his skin.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:29 pm
Potential OCs will jump at the chance to come to the Bucs. Hard to fault Coen for taking that role with a potential franchise QB in the fold. However, i would wonder why Peterson couldnât make it but i doubt 39 year olds think that way.
Bowles found the last two coordinators. Why do we think he cant do it again?
Hearing all this foolishness about McVayâs coaching tree is just silly. Bowles has a better record over the past three years. Let the man interview and hire the next OC and give him the weapons he needs on defense now that the team is out of Tom Brady purgatory.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:36 pm
Fire Liam
January 21st, 2025 at 6:38 pm
Also very sad that I even feel that I needed to make the comment about the color of his skin. There are certainly racists that will never accept Bowles due to this but the great majority just hate his pass defense.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:40 pm
Bowles…our new HC-DC-OC Bwaaaahahaha!
January 21st, 2025 at 6:42 pm
Baker running a RPO offense? No thanks! If Coen leaving does happen, promote Thad the QB coach if they feel heâs ready or get another McVay disciple. Got to keep the same offense!!!!!!!!!!!
January 21st, 2025 at 6:43 pm
Weâve a few HCâs better than Bowles, but never an OC better than Coen. SMH.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:45 pm
Lose him and left with Bowles. Yikes
January 21st, 2025 at 6:46 pm
Glazers need to step up. All the way up
January 21st, 2025 at 6:47 pm
17.5 ppg allowed after the bye.
WE DO NOT make the playoffs without Todds adjustments on defense.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:47 pm
Should be word out of Tampa is they really like Coen and are making him highest paid OC
January 21st, 2025 at 6:47 pm
Bowlesâ coaching, clock management and outdated defensive schemes will doom this team no matter who they bring in on defense. Please stop with the winning of 3 straight division titles. Bucs won the SB as a wild card and frankly the division stinks. Iâd much rather see a new DC as opposed to a new OC.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:48 pm
Rooting for Saleh lol
January 21st, 2025 at 6:49 pm
All the Bowles defenders were told this will happen. Without Coen, the offense regresses next year, the defense stays lousy and we lose 10 games. The decision to prioritize affirmative action Todd over Coen will go down infamy alongside drafting Bo Jackson and trading away Steve Young.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:50 pm
The cheapest thing will be to let Trask be a player and OC. Then let Bowles rely on the AI computer in the press box. AI can make the play calls.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:50 pm
Y’all did the same crying last season when the previous guy moved on, a number of you didn’t think Coen was the right choice. Now he’s indispensable too? All of this is to discredit Bowles. It’s funny how his hires keep getting head coaching jobs/tryouts, “all on their own,” but not before working under Bowles.
January 21st, 2025 at 6:55 pm
I may be an unabashed Baker fan so I donât see this like everyone else around here. If we have 2 offensive coordinatorâs get head coaching jobs in this league with only one year with our Bucs? Instead of my nickname for Mayfield âBaker the touchdown makerâ Iâll start calling him âBaker the head coach makerâ.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:00 pm
shak
Actually, only the past two.
The other 5 were fired outright because their losing seasons were completely “their fault”.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:01 pm
Now Iâd hate to lose Coen but our Oline and Bucky sure helped our team. Let Licht and Bowles work on some details this offseason and watch us be better next year Coen or not.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:09 pm
well, 2025 Bucs season will be doomed!
January 21st, 2025 at 7:17 pm
Hopefully he leaves so we keep saying what if. We are used to that.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:17 pm
Canât blame Coen for taking the gig if offered. He was an O-Coordinator in college less than a year ago.
Maybe BakerâŚwho has saved Bowles job the past two yearsâŚalso elevated âCan Doâ Canales & Coen.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:17 pm
Combine the Glazer men with The Big Guy (JL) and OBP will have its own version of the gang that could’t shoot straight. Maybe they’re busy with other matters. OBP might need to have the parking lot restriped or perhaps the landscape needs to be refreshed. No worries. It’s on the list.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:17 pm
Canales will win more games than bowles in his year two. So will Liam once he gets wet. Some guys adapt some don’t. Bowles is who he is. At least when he coordinated his pass D isn’t bottom 5. There’s hundreds of guys that just need their chance. Some of these coaches are outdated
January 21st, 2025 at 7:21 pm
The reason Coen was so good this season was because he knew Baker’s weaknesses (throwing past 10 yards down the field) and designed an offense that let him focus on what he’s good at, short, accurate passes and keeping plays alive in the pocket. Additionally Coen was very creative in the run game – and overall did a fantastic job at keeping defenses off balance with his playcalling.
I’d fire Bowles 10000x times over before I’d let Coen go – and that’s not a shot at Bowles, it’s more about how much I’d value keeping Coen.
Of course the Baker Boi(s), still trying to blame the playoff loss on anyone but Baker, will say no big deal, that Coen fumbled the ball to lose the game because he blew the call – but I assure you, that is not the case, Baker is going to be by far the biggest victim of Coen leaving.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:21 pm
Fire Bowles is what I want personally but the reality is if Cohen leaves who are you gonna go with that isn’t a complete reset of the entire franchise??
And If Liam Coen gets the Jags job, Thaddeus Lewis should be given a fair shot. He served as the wide receivers coach for two years and has been Baker’s quarterback coach for the last two years, so he is well-versed in the system and has a strong understanding of both Baker and Bowles. Iâm sure both would be comfortable with him. If Bowles is gone after next year, it’s likely that his coordinators will be as well, meaning we’d be bringing in a new coach and cordinator anyways. If Bowles stays, we’ll know he promoted a coach from within who either turned out to be a great offensive coordinator or he fixed the defense. Either way, that would mean playoffs again, and potentially even a Super Bowl. Ultimately, if Bowles doesn’t win at least one playoff game next year, he should be gone. In my opinion, it should be two playoff wins for him to keep his job.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:21 pm
How many games did the defense lose the game once Baker and the offense tied or went ahead in the 4th quarter. Bowles plays zone defense then anyone else in the league. The majority of fans have seen enough. Glazers please do the right thing!!!
January 21st, 2025 at 7:22 pm
If Coen does leave for the Jags so be it. It means that Bowles and Licht are making good choices on their OC hiring. I do think that this time around it will be someone in house to replace Coen The one thing I donât agree with is moving Bowles into an office position or running him off to promote Coen. Itâs a big difference in running just an offense and being responsible for all Also, Coen has shown just 1 year as a OC. Just look around the league and see how many top coordinators that never pan out just see the guy that just got fired in Jacksonville. Some guys are just meant to be coordinators
January 21st, 2025 at 7:23 pm
Shak
No one cried because Canales and his 18 points per games went to Carolina and most people knew Coen would be better because of his system and play call experience sorry but uh nope youâre wrong. 29 points per game of you think thatâs easy to replace I canât wait to see your posts next season should Coen go to the Jags
January 21st, 2025 at 7:23 pm
If Coen leaves, Bucs will hire OC from within
January 21st, 2025 at 7:25 pm
DONâT LET LIAM GO!!!
January 21st, 2025 at 7:28 pm
Bowles is the real leader of this team. Todd will hire a new OC and the Bucs will be 4 time South Division Champs next year, 9-8 baby
January 21st, 2025 at 7:32 pm
Joe
Is it time for a poll to see who your readers would rather have as Bucs HC, Bowles or Coen?
January 21st, 2025 at 7:33 pm
Under Canales we struggled to score 20 points a game. We were an offensive juggernaut. *eye roll* If that’s what making an OC looks like, then we can pick up anybody and be made in heaven!
Coen OTH helped make that offense what it was, he wasn’t made by Bake. It took an excellent line, Baker’s wonderful quarterback play, Mike Evans, Bucky, and others to get what we had last season! I don’t have the numbers but it was about 9 more points per game!
January 21st, 2025 at 7:35 pm
If Coen goes, the Bucs had better get their 3rd rounder, because there’s no bigger minority in the NFL than gingers.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:36 pm
Don’t worry boys. Bowles has got this handled. As we speak he’s in his office right now. Drawing up plans on how to give more points just before the end of the half. We good.

Actually the one place Bowles should get a ton of credit is his pick of OC’s. If his two OC picks both get HC jobs after one year, that’s pretty incredible.
That also means Bowles should be able to get pretty much anyone he wants for the job, as every assistant in the NFL is going to see this job as a stepping stone to getting a HC gig.
With that said, if I’m the Glazers, I’m doing everything possible to keep Coen, including firing Bowles if needed. Then again, would Coen even take the Bucs job if it means he’s getting Bowles fired, and everyone knows that? I doubt he would, basically meaning if the Jagoffs offer the job, Coen is likely gone.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:50 pm
How about match the Jags salary offer, promote to assistant coach and continue to be the OC. Itâs minor money!!!Promise with a continued top 10 offense he gets head coach when Bowles retires.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:51 pm
Or get fired!
January 21st, 2025 at 7:54 pm
I’ve seen this movie before and we all know how it ends. Not big on letting HC candidates slip out the door leaving us with the guy that’s hit his own personal limit. There is no upside. You want to win big then sometimes that’s going to involve making a bold move.
January 21st, 2025 at 7:59 pm
Or gets fired.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:04 pm
Cometowin yeah why not–I can’t think that the Jags with Trent Baalke and a losing franchise is a good bet over the Bucs.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:05 pm
It sucks all around, but I just donât think Lichtenstein and ownership are going to sign up for a 3rd OC in 3 years. If it goes well, then thereâs a good chance weâd be looking at 4 OCs in 4 years.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:06 pm
Licht donât know why apple want to auto correct that to Lichtenstein
January 21st, 2025 at 8:07 pm
Dungy didnât see himself being firedâŚ..nor did Gruden. Bowles isnât exempt, thereâs plenty to build a case on letting him go. His defense regressed every year, players arenât being developed, game management is an absolute disaster in crunch time, 1-3 in the playoffs, .500 in a pitiful divisionâŚ.I think the owners are simply holding their cards tight.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:13 pm
Bunch of fake bandwagon fans on here. You all said the same thing last year when Ol’ Davey Canales left for the Panthers. I don’t think Coen will leave just to take a job that HCs only last 2 years at best. He has it made here. Go Bucs
January 21st, 2025 at 8:13 pm
Yea another season tix holder here in agreement ,glazers if you monitor this site your fan base is telling you to keep the Cohen, get rid of the dinosaur, nfl is offensive game now and we got great nfl mind with cohen, glazers you will regret letting him leave
January 21st, 2025 at 8:14 pm
Jags….rudderless….why would someone want to take that job.
Talented QB under contract and young enough to mold.
An owner known for giving head coaches a lot of rope.
An owner known for letting the head coach drive the organziation, not the GM.
A superstar receiver.
A solid tight end.
Good tackles.
Double-digit young edge rusher, among other talent.
Chill media.
Benefits of living in FL.
Weakass division. –Joe
Especially Coen who could tarnish his rep forever. Terrible owner…terrible GM….London twice a year….why go there? Fleece the Bucs for a couple of mil and demand “head coach in waiting”. Bowles contract is almost up.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:19 pm
Joe will be writing articles on how we should have fired Bowles to keep Coen by this time next season when we’re out searching for a HC when Bowles will be fired after the offense regresses and he couldn’t fix the defense because he kept his yes men on staff.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:25 pm
Hmm. So, definitely maybe.
Hearsay until it happens.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:26 pm
Why isn’t Todd Monken on the Jags (or other teams) radar? Ditto for the Buffalo OC, Joe Brady. Those guys have been successful as well and in the case of Monken has a long pedigree.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:28 pm
If Liam Coen is that stupid and arrogant, see ya!! Don’t let the door slam on your ignorant arse and knock you to the floor on your way out of One Buc Place. Meanwhile, Bucs will be real scary, even with the 4th OC in 4 seasons next fall!
January 21st, 2025 at 8:31 pm
Honestly, Iâd tell Todd to take a hike.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:32 pm
If Coen has a chance to leave for a HC job he will… And so would all of you.
5 year fully guaranteed $40-$50M dollar deal?
Come on man!
January 21st, 2025 at 8:34 pm
Todd Wright has a great point on his recent podcast in that while he feels while Bowles has his positives: players love him, he maintains team unity, promotes a good culture, etc. Todd also has various issues with clock management and it seems like his ceiling as a HC is winning a mediocre division and perhaps winning a playoff game or so.
In a nutshell Mr Wright does not think Bowles is Super Bowl material. So a question to the Glazers, are you content winning 10 or so games a year and then getting eliminated in the wild card or divisional playoff round? Your Dad, Malcolm, decided that was unacceptable concerning Tony Dungy…. The ball is in the Glazer’s court.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:34 pm
If Coen leaves at least scoop up Salah as DC
January 21st, 2025 at 8:38 pm
It is just a business. Once I realized that over being a die hard fan it became easier to accept my favorite team’s demises. I think we are just going to be forever stuck with the current situation.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:38 pm
Lightningvinny, Salah will probably go back to San Fran if he does not get a head coaching gig. Plus Bowles is too stubborn to relinquish play calling duties unless the Glazers force him to.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:47 pm
Dang you folks are some GLOOMY GUSES!!!
So there are three constants to the Bucs continued improvement as in a 10% bump in wins all three of Bowles years.
That’s Licht, Bowles and BAKER!!! Baker has no problem adjusting to new OC’s.
Munchman as usual when it comes to Baker because you made a fool of yourself in your early predictions you continue to look for EVERY excuse to erase the mistaken predictions you made before Baker took his first snap. But then your record with QB’s is not exactly sterling. You were a HUGE JW fan!! How has he fared since leaving the Bucs? Your continued desperation to find something wrong with Baker is making you look more and more foolish and more and more desperate!!!
You posted tonight as you have since Baker got here…
“The reason Coen was so good this season was because he knew Bakerâs weaknesses (throwing past 10 yards down the field)”
Rod unlike you I’ll not offer my OPINION from the old folks home how about some stats and facts. You couldn’t be MORE mistaken!!
Baker was the 3rd ranked QB for most completions over 20 yards behind Burrow and Geno Smith. I’m going to provide the link for you in my next post to keep it from eating this one. If it doesn’t get through you know how to google just like we folks in the nursing home.
Give it up. Baker came here with a rep for too many ints not a weak arm!!!
He’s improved his int %…insert whichever reason you think..I think it’s just maturity and competitive fire. He realized he needed to cut down on them!
Next post for the link/proof!
January 21st, 2025 at 8:49 pm
Look, Coen did a solid job, but letâs not kid ourselvesâhe didnât build this offense from scratch. With a strong offensive line, a competent quarterback, and a balanced rushing attack supported by a talented receiving corps, any offensive coordinator with a functional game plan is going to find success. The foundation is solid, and success is about optimizing whatâs already in place, not reinventing the wheel.
Weâve seen this story before. Defensive-minded head coaches like Pete Carroll in Seattle and John Harbaugh in Baltimore have consistently built successful programs around strong foundations, even after losing high-profile offensive coordinators. Seattle thrived after the departures of Darrell Bevell and Brian Schottenheimer because Carroll maintained continuity with a solid run game and capable quarterback play. Similarly, Baltimore remained competitive when Gary Kubiak and Greg Roman left, thanks to their physical offensive identity and strong personnel.
The reality? Teams built on balanced, disciplined football can withstand coordinator changes because theyâre structured for sustained success. The Bucs fall into that categoryâBowles has overseen a team that is fundamentally sound and resilient. Losing Coen isnât ideal, but itâs hardly catastrophic. The system is bigger than one play-caller.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:53 pm
OK for guys who HONESTLY wonder where Baker finished in bombs here’s the link. Yes ME13 certainly helped with a few and he is the best on the team at catch and run but that’s not the only reason Baker succeeded. First his ranking..
Arm strength can be a bit more subjective but again google and you’ll see that Baker almost always finishes in the top ten.
January 21st, 2025 at 8:54 pm

Restore our Defense.
The other team canât win if it canât score.
January 21st, 2025 at 9:16 pm
@Derek
That’s what I said I think the fans need to do is start to boycott the team because I’ve constantly said how it really does seem like they could care less. Yet the fans are just supposed to put up with this.
January 21st, 2025 at 9:24 pm
Im happy for him, if he goes. Players make plays. Relax. 44 years of watching my bucs 35 I can remember. Everything thays done is done. He may stay and the league has a season of film and he stinks. Reality is we just don’t or won’t ever know h I want it would shake out. I’m happy for him if he gets a head coaching job. Its a lifetime of hard work. If he wants to work for 𤢠Trent and Muhammed bin madam so be it.
January 21st, 2025 at 9:28 pm
Rather have Coen and Saleh as DC and see Bowles gone.
January 21st, 2025 at 9:46 pm
If he is offered the job and takes it so long. Next OC up. It’s his choice if he wants to jump to a HC position now. Boycott the team all you want. Do you really think anyone cares? You’re just a small fish in a big pond.
January 21st, 2025 at 9:48 pm
Hell, just keep Coenâs playbook for the next OC. Unfortunately, I donât see the Glazers having the brains or nerve to fire Bowles. This crap about his defense allowing 17.5 pts after the bye came against sorry teams and his defense cost us in the playoffs.
January 21st, 2025 at 9:56 pm
Okay, so I’m seeing people are in a lot of stress over this. Everything is going to turn out fine.
Liam Coen isn’t leaving.
But, let’s play devil’s advocate for a moment: even if he did leave, it doesn’t matter. Liam Coen isn’t the reason the Bucs offense is so good think about it.
I’m hate pointing this out, but Todd Bowles has said for the lest few years what he wants this offense to be run like.
Jason Licht went out and built it the way Bowles wanted him to.
There is a reason the last two OCs got HC opportunities. I’m not saying Liam Coen didn’t do a great job ..but it is hard to fail when you are handed everything on a silver platter.
Fans panicked last year, and Jason found the right guy. He’d do it again if needed.
January 21st, 2025 at 10:09 pm
The Bucs are a PERFECT MATCH for COEN.
Wait a year, Liam.
Bowles will retire, and you’ll be here for life.
January 21st, 2025 at 10:18 pm
Letâs also clear something upâyes, Jason Licht is a damn good general manager when it comes to identifying talent and building a roster. But letâs not kid ourselvesâheâs not an Xâs and Oâs guy. Drafting the right players and structuring contracts is his lane, but when it comes to the nuances of offensive strategy, thatâs where Todd Bowles steps in.
People love to act like Bowles just lucked into David Canales and Liam Coen, as if he wasnât the one who handpicked them based on a clear vision for what he wanted this offense to be. The truth is, no one was singing their praises before Bowles hired them. Both were largely unknown to the average fanâCanales had never called plays before, and Coen was mostly known in coaching circles for his college work. In fact, Bowles was ridiculed for bringing in coordinators without extensive play-calling experience and for emphasizing a run-heavy approach in what many claim to be a “passing league.”
And yet, here we are, with the same critics who doubted him now acting like these guys were household names all along. Funny how that works.
Bowles personally sat down with both coaches, thoroughly laid out his philosophy, and vetted their ability to execute it with precision. He wasnât just looking for a name; he was looking for someone who could translate his defensive mindset into an offensive strategy that complements it. He wanted balance, attention to detail, and a system that could sustain itselfânot just flashy numbers.
Canales and Coen didnât just stumble into their rolesâthey earned Bowles’ trust by demonstrating the preparation and football IQ necessary to thrive under his leadership. Bowles understands what he needs from an OC to balance the team, and he made those hires based on fit, not fan opinion.
So while itâs easy for some to sit back and credit Licht for everything, letâs not ignore Bowlesâ role in shaping this staff and maintaining a clear standard. The idea that heâs sitting in the corner clueless while things happen around him is just flat-out false. Heâs involved, heâs deliberate, and heâs making decisions with a vision in mindâwhether people like it or not.

@stpetebucsfan
Thank you Sir!
January 21st, 2025 at 10:28 pm
I think Canales did a good job; I think Coen did a good job. I think neither is irreplaceable. i think the head coach who created the environment in which they flourished had the bigger job. Finally, I think that a team whose fans’ biggest –and apparently only– issue is replacing a coordinator is in pretty good shape.

There really can’t be that many deranged Todd Bowles fans that think he’s a coaching prodigy…. I got this funny feeling we are being played and everything is not what it seems… Welcome to the wizard of Oz folks… What’s behind the curtain.

need a new NFL rule that you can’t hire a coordinator who has only been with a team for one year

Ah, the classic âeverything is not what it seemsâ argumentâbecause apparently, the only explanation for supporting a head coach whoâs led the team to three consecutive division titles and kept them competitive through significant roster turnover is some grand illusion, right? Letâs leave the fairy tales behind and focus on the facts.
No one is calling Todd Bowles a coaching prodigy. Thatâs a straw man argument that doesnât hold up under scrutiny. What informed fans recognize is that Bowles has done a solid job steering this team through challenges that would have derailed many others. Losing key players, operating under tight salary cap constraints, and still producing winning seasons isnât magicâitâs competence and leadership.
The truth is, success doesnât always fit a preferred narrative. Instead of acknowledging three division titles, multiple playoff appearances, and an offense that continues to evolve under Bowles’ leadership, some would rather dismiss it all as luck or deception. But the results speak for themselves.
Bowles isnât perfectâno coach isâbut pretending his accomplishments are mere smoke and mirrors ignores the bigger picture. If believing otherwise helps you cope, by all means, click your heels three times and hope for a new coach. Meanwhile, the rest of us will stick to reality and recognize the steady hand guiding this team through an ever-changing NFL landscape.

LUVMYBUCS, incredibly well said!

For the love of God enough with the division titles! One of those was with a losing record and getting the bricks beat off you by the Cowboys. That’s not something to be proud of. Todd Bowles has taken advantage during his head coaching tenure of a trash division and that’s a fact. If he was a HC in any other division his ass would have been fired already. He’s the definition of mediocrity, his record speaks for itself.
Also leadership don’t make me laugh you wanna credit him for getting the team past the mid season slumps then also blame him for putting them in those mid season slumps to begin with. 4-5 game losing streaks in the middle of the season, he’s at fault for those slumps.
Todd Bowles is 1-3 in the playoffs, newsflash that’s not winning you a superbowl.
Todd Bowles was 2-6 in one score games this season, that reflects poorly on his game management and time management issues that have been there since his time on the Jets.
“Offense that continues to evolve under Bowles leadership”
Bro you are clowning right now, Bowles has straight up admitted he is hands off on the offense. He has NOTHING to do with the offense which is what’s carried the team this season.
Don’t worry you’ll get your just desserts when Coen leaves and the offense regresses and you will no longer have division titles to brag about cause newsflash Falcons and Panthers are getting better and when we wanna fire Bowles next season he’s just gonna retire to stay face.

Yeah, we all had âeyesâ and could see. The Bucs will have a real hard time recovering from this one, & will be FULL of regret. The rest will just be like, âTold Ya So.â Itâs just such a no-brainer, too. đŻ

Yeah, real hard thing to do too (âleadership, bla, blah, blahhhhâ), with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, LaVonte David, Vita Vea, Tristan Wirfs, Winfield Junior, & Baker Mayfield on your roster. ALL (minus Baker), with âBradyâ Super Bowl pedigrees, including the entire FO.

Yeah, youâve got the ENTIRE NFC North now, AND Jayden Daniels, Philly, LA Rams, & San Fran⌠But, WE GOT Bowles.

If we lose Cohen, expect a BIG âstep backâ in a major way. Will be very hard getting too excited about next season. LOTS of âsmoke & mirrorsâ with this team last season, that Cohen HIMSELF, covered A LOT of it up.
