Raiders To Interview Bucs Assistant GM John Spytek

January 14th, 2025

“You’re not my guy, Greeny.”

Joe wrote about this possibility last week, and now it’s come to fruition.

Various national outlets are reporting today that Bucs assistant general manager John Spytek will interview with the Las Vegas Raiders for their GM vacancy.

What a mess of a job that seems to be, unless you want to work with a Tom Brady parrot on your shoulder, a parrot that might change his life plan next year while your 70-year-old owner is still figuring out how to run a team successfully.

But hey, the money probably is great. Go get that fat bag, Spytek!

The Bucs’ other assistant GM, Mike Greenberg, interviewed for the New York Jets’ open GM job last week.

Spytek also is said to be in a tight race to get the Titans’ GM gig.

tough, i bet he takes this one.

  2. heyjude Says:

You were so right, Joe. I am guessing that he may just get the Raiders gig. Spytek is definitely going to leave the Bucs.

  3. NJbucs23 Says:

Spytek deserves an opportunity. This is what a good organization looks like, people get chances to move up somewhere else. Go get it John !

  4. Pasco Pete Says:

Spytek and Brady were teammates at Michigan. That’s where I would expect him to go.

  5. BallHawk75 Says:

    @The Joes

This is what happens when you show competency at your job in a leadership role.

Other organizations see this and want to pluck people who have learned under the tutelage of a successful person.

Licht only blind spot in the last five years is Bowles. And drafting kickers.

But Bowles was forced upon him by BA. We all know that.

Low and behold, absolutely no one is pulling Todd Bowles underlings from the organization.

Turns out that giving up 400+ yards a game is not what winning franchises covet.

    Flush the Toilet Bowles!!!!

  6. SlyPirate Says:

Spytek will poach a lot of people from the Bucs scouting staff when he leaves.
Our drafts may take a hit.

  7. Hodad Says:

    Good for him, well deserved.

  8. SB~LV Says:

No problem, it’s the way of the NFL , of course I would like to keep him but not at the expense of his career in the NFL

  9. Tbbucs3 Says:

Licht runs the show, we’ll be fine either way

  10. Pewter Power Says:

    Good luck Spytek

  11. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Licht runs the show! Oh yeah, I’m still waiting for competent edge rushers, LBs and CBs and let’s not for the safety Winfield which he way overpaid to have such a stellar year. I’ll give Licht credit for bring in BA but that got us stuck with this horrible succession plan.

  12. Bob Says:

He is bringing Liam with him.

  13. JustOneGame Says:

@Pelsbuc, horrible succession plan? I guess making the playoffs every year is terrible. We should go back to the days where we were talking the draft and a top 10 pick every year, that was so much fun!!

  14. Booker Reese Says:

If Spytek gets this job and the Vikings decide to stick with Sam Darnold. Are the Raiders in the trade market for former Michigan QB JJ McCarthy?

  15. Larrd Says:

He seems very articulate and will probably get one of the jobs. The Bucs should push Licht upstairs to president or something, maybe.

  16. Mac Says:

I said this last week. Brady is going to blow this team up. Spytek will go take Coen with him and Godwin as well. Book it! Sucks bc this is going to kill us and the downward spiral of Tampa begins!

  17. Fa9 Says:

@JustOneGame Says: Its crazy to me what you can read out here, my first 10 years has a Bucs fan we didn’t do the playoff, I am so greatful for that eara we are living in !

  18. Irish Laughter Says:

Brady, who should of, could of, and would have won at least two Super Bowls for the Bucs is now a parrot? Keeping it real in Ireland.
