The Bucs have little to worry about on Sunday night if you believe the words of one Xs and Os guru who patrols the halls of One Buc Palace.
Joe’s referring to Rondé Barber, the legendary Tampa Bay cornerback and his comments on WFLA.com.
Barber sees the Commanders as a one-man band: rookie QB Jayden Daniels.
“When you start looking at what the Bucs are going to have to do to win this football game, it’s literally stop one guy. So when you talk about favorable matchups, it’s that,” Barber said.
He went on to talk about how most of Daniels’ rushing yardage is scrambling yardage versus designed runs, and scrambles can be contained more easily.
“The reality is, you stop one guy, you win this football game,” Barber said.
So how to stop Daniels? JoeBucsFan.com draft guru Sean Sullivan broke that down in a short podcast strictly devoted to containing the Commanders’ stud. One thing Sullivan harped on is the Bucs’ overloading their defense to make moving right difficult for Daniels.
Joe thinks it’s too simplistic to say beating the Commanders is all about Daniels. While the Commandoes defense isn’t great, it’s a lot better than the defensive slappies the Bucs just faced against New Orleans (and struggled with) and Carolina.
Joe thinks the Bucs will need a true “A” game from their offensive line to win, perhaps even more than containing Daniels.

As Rhonde Barber says, Jayden Daniels wins most games with his legs. Jayden has about 890 rushing yards this season (6 rushing TD) compared to Bakers 350 or so (3 rushing TDs). When you look at TD passes Baker is outstanding at 41 with Jayden at 25.
So yes, I agree, the Bucs have to try and take the run dimension away from Jayden as much as possible, and try to limit the number of scoring opportunities due to his rushing. I feel good about the Bucs chances of success because of Coach Bowles experience and success rates with rushing quarterbacks in the past as well as his ability to make game time and half time adjustments.
Our offense speaks for itself, with an average of 29.5 points per game and so many ways to score out of the same formations or even different formations. I don’t think their defense can hold our run game, passing game, and just plain down right fighting quarterback, the Bake!!
Let’s just say our defense holds the Commanders to 23 points or less, which I am confident they will. And the offense does their job, then I believe the Buccaneers will outscore them and win their first playoff game of the 2024/25 season !!

Lets be honest, Joe. The Bucs didn’t struggle at all against the Saints defense when you remove the penalties. The only team this season that has slowed down the Bucs offense is the Bucs offense.

We need a strong offensive showing to win this game . I’m once again referring to PROTECTING THE BALL!! Throw in a heavy dose of BI7 and ME13, mix in some KO88, RW1, and JM15. Long sustained drives ending with points!!!! Keep Washington’s O off the field. Control the clock. Plus the Buc’s D needs to find ways to get off the field on 3rd and 4th downs more often than not! Perhaps even win the turnover battle. IMHO! LFG!!!

When do the Bucs where win the turnover battle? We never get interceptions. It’s like Bowles doesn’t believe in edge rushers or INTs. Can’t remember Gampa ever under Bowles recording INTs. Maybe a fumble recovery here or there or that’s only when they blow up a person right as they catch it or strip sack the qb. Both rare!

From what I’m hearing going to be a lot of Commander fans there which is ashame. Was hoping for hoke field advantage but sounds like you will hear a ton of Commander fans there. I live in PA but if I lived anywhere near Tampa I’d be there tomorrow. We need to show up and be loud and give our team true home field advantage.

I’d like to see the Bucs win the toss take the ball and get the running game going early and score to set the tone. Evans will have his way tomorrow with Latimore who basically hasn’t played much all year. Set the tone early. Keep Daniel’s in the pocket and hopefully get some good pressure on Daniels. I think the Bucs win big tomorrow similar score as their first meeting. Let’s go!

Daniels had to come out of the Dallas game because as we know their pass rush came alive and he got knocked around way too much for the coach’s liking. He didn’t play the last game Marcus Mariota played for him. So I’m hoping we can get some early big hits on this rookie and rattle his freaking cage and physically beat this team down. I know we have the physical advantage with guys like Vita and Kancey so here’s to us grinding them out on the ground and putting their QB out of commission.
