“This Guy Is Just Changing Lanes On The Autobahn”
January 7th, 2025Former NFL offensive lineman Brian Baldinger is a big fan of what Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen did turning the league’s worst rushing offense into a top-five rushing offense.
And while Baldinger raves about rookie Bucky Irving (“This guy is just changing lanes on the Autobahn.”), Baldinger noted it takes a team to build an offense.
Of course, Irving has been a catalyst. Baldinger also loves how Coen schemes the offense and has a diverse blocking plan,
Baldinger even gave a shoutout to running back Sean Tucker who he said, “came out of nowhere.” He sort of did since he did little to nothing during his rookie season.
Joe loves Bucky’s ability to make guys miss. And Joe finds it a welcome change to watch a running back make his own holes when the holes aren’t there — and they aren’t always there. He’s making all kinds of people miss.
Food for thought: The Commandos have the league’s third-worst rushing defense, allowing 137.5 yards a game. And the Bucs run game has been on fire for the most part since the bye.
Joe likes that matchup.
.@Buccaneers went from #32 to #4 in rushing this year. A whole lotta folks are involved with this success…maybe none bigger than rokkie @BuckyIrving #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/AOPeZ4zXh7

It’s in our hands.

Do you think that perhaps Liam kept things rather pedestrian with the play calling against the Saints? Not wanting to show too much more to our wildcard opponent?
January 7th, 2025 at 4:57 am
Maybe, it seemed like we were getting a little too cute at times. I think that’s what happens a little bit in the 2nd quarter, sometimes at the beginning if we don’t start off hot. Adjustments get made in the 2nd half, but man it’s frustrating some times.

Bucky has been great and so has Tucker and White but those guys owe the guys blocking for them dinner at Berns. That includes the TEs and WRs BTW they have all been blocking there butts off!
Can you tell I love a well blocked run play?
Go Bucs!

Bucky is a star. Straight up. On the other side of the coin it seemed to me that the Oline was used and abused for the majority of the Saints game.

Looking back at the numbers ,,, Washington gives up a bunch of running yards ,, Barkley had big numbers against them and our own Bucky Averaged 6.9 on them the first game,,, Might be a game we just wear them down w ground and pound

Mike now has his yards. The team can go back to mixing it up.
Remember, Coen wasn’t getting the ball to Evans at the start
of the season.

all i can say is:
go bucky go…!
run bucky run…!
score bucky score…!

I am thinking Bucky is the best draft pick of this season – all teams included. He was 4th round and look at him. He is something else, a true gem.
Agree with Leopold too. Those cutesy plays didn’t help.
If the Bucs go in with the same ‘Mike getting his yards momentum’, we win this next game. Early lead and keeping it throughout. Go Bucs!

White seems to be taking this very well, nice to see
January 7th, 2025 at 8:37 am
The Saints DL dominated the LOS on many plays, Bucky often had to fight to get to the LOS. Baker had to run or lateral with the pressure he was getting (Barton whiffed on the Bucky TD). We had too many holding penalties.
Carbs and Pic need to get the OL back to fundamentals. Washington will look for matchups to attack our weak links along the OL. It’s time for the OL to blow up the Washington defense as we may be in a shootout against Daniels.

Who was that Saints defender that Ko Kieft absolutely rag-dolled at the beginning of the video…lol.
January 7th, 2025 at 8:57 am
White has been non existent the last few weeks. I would like to see them get Tucker more involved when Bucky is not in there.

Pound the rock!
1st possession. 1st quarter. Pound the rock!
1st, 2nd and 3rd down, run the ball!
I guarantee Bucky gets us 10 yards on 3 runs.
Running the ball on the 1st possession can change the whole game.
Pound the rock!!’

Eh I know it’s a team game and win/loss is more than one player but the Bucs gained 1 win over last year. Jayden Daniels helped turn Wash from doodoo into a playoff team. Super glad the Bucks have Bucky and definitely the best pick value relative to draft position.

I thought the Zebras sucked again the Sunday. And I’m not saying they’re prejudiced, homers, or paid off, I’m suggesting they are human and they seem to be getting out of control.
The NFL used to be like the NBA “No harm no foul”. If it didnt’ effect the actual result of the play swallow the whistle unless its a personal foul. OL holding could literally be called on every play. Whenever I see it called on the backside of a play effecting NOTHING I want the zebras to eat their whistles or perhaps stick it where the sun doesnt shine.
The Zebras have become overofficious and it’s not just effecting the outcomes of games it’s making the game boring!

Coen needs to get more creative and call 2-back plays. I noticed that immediately. The OLine and TEs were doing some serious blocking. Half the holding calls were bogus (what else is new). What I’ve been impressed with is the Bucs are playing with a poise and crispness now. That comes from team confidence in themselves. Bucs have a decent shot at actually winning this playoff game, Jayden ‘the gazelle’ Daniels and all. I like that QB lateral, and hope Coen puts stuff like it in his game planning. Bucs have the talent so use it, Liam. DC is not chopped liver.

I don’t know about keeping it pedestrian, but definitely going to the well a few too many times with the passes behind the LOS, which the Saints were blowing up over and over. We saw that against the Cowboys and some other teams recently too. Clearly we’ve put it on tape too much.
Hopefully he doesn’t make that mistake against Washington, as theres no question Dan Quinn sees this too. Also gonna have to find some ways to scheme Evans open with Lattimore playing.
And what happened to the 2 RB sets? We were absolutely lethal with that earlier in the year but seems like we haven’t seen much of it the last few weeks.

StickinUp4Centers – Agree about Jayden.
stpetebucsfan – Totally agree about those refs. It really felt as though they were working for NO. It felt like they were getting more air time than the sportscasters.
January 7th, 2025 at 11:11 am
I definitely could see that the refs were dumping on the BUCS as much as they possibly could.

Starting at 1:19 in the video look at the size difference between number 96 (Granderson) and Bucky, it almost looks fake. 6’5″ 261 vs 5’9″ 194. Big Bucky Fan!
January 7th, 2025 at 12:11 pm
The Cowboys and the Saints had worse defenses against the rush but the Bucs inexplicably came out passing. It’s pretty bad when my dad and I are both hollering “run the damn ball!”.
FYI That’s my only gripe about Coen. He doesn’t take advantage of terrible rushing defenses.

Loved how Bucky got down to help Mike get the record, think the team was super distracted everyone sacrificed for Mike.

You could tell did some serious film study as they were ready for the screen plays to Bucky and snuffed them out almost immediately. Props to the Saints for being well prepared.
