Jordan Whitehead Injured In Car Accident; Out For Sunday

January 4th, 2025

The Bucs announced this afternoon that starting safety Jordan Whitehead was involved in a car accident this morning and his resulting injuries are significant enough that the Bucs placed Whitehead on the non-football injury list.

As a result, Whitehead will not play in tomorrow’s win-and-in game against the Saints.

Details of the accident are unclear.

  2. Baking with Coen Says:

NO average 5 points for the last three games. I’m afraid very afraid. Lol

  3. Baking with Coen Says:

Their offense is so depleted and bad that Ryan Neal will have his best game of his career.

    We got this!

  4. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Ryan Neal.. oof.

  5. SB~LV Says:

He better have been wearing his seat belt!

  6. Lt. Dan Says:

I sincerely hope Whitehead is ok – but dang! The injury bug has come at this team in every possible way this year!

  7. NJbucs23 Says:

    Ryan Neal still cashing checks….

I’m on my way down Todd from NJ, I can give ya some plays tomorrow.

  8. SB~LV Says:

Look on the positive side, Ryan Neal should have lots of chances for a interception

  9. Dewey Selmon Says:

Saints are dirty, prolly a fan t-boned Whitehead on purpose.

  10. GoneGator Says:

Damn. Not as big an issue as it could be tho. I’ve seen no worse from our 2nd and 3rd stringers at safety than when Winfield and Whitehead were back there.

More concerned about Josh Hayes at corner. He looked rough in preseason if I remember correctly but he does bring energy. Having said that let me be the 1st to predict Hayes will pick one off this Sunday 🤞🏼

  11. Mac Says:

Hayes is a huge liability. We better hope Dean and Winfield are back if we beat the Saints. Hope Joran is OK and this is just a precaution.

  12. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

Just becoming another one of the players that come to Tampa to collect a check.

  13. JimBobBuc Says:

How does the Reserve NFI List work? When could Whitehead come back and play?

  14. Bowles4President Says:

    I hope he’s ok!!

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Whitehead just came back from a 4 week injury last week. Dude is injury prone these days.

  16. adam from ny Says:

    he’s out for the year

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

JimBob, it’s a multiple week injury, so he done this year. He’d miss the playoffs.

  18. adam from ny Says:

prayers for the dude…hopefully he will be ok…his health and safety is more important than football…

    y’all are savages

  19. Bucsgoham12 Says:

Some of yall are truly weird…

Hope Jordan is okay, he was already injured and was playing through those. Hope the accident was just that an accident and not a racing or dui situation.

  20. MadMax Says:

^ He was on his way to the team facility, ok? He was probably hit by someone else who will fall under that category. Hope its not serious.

  21. Bucsfan1988 Says:

    Isn’t Izien playing this weekend??

I just looked at the Bucs injury report and he’s not even showing on there…

  22. Bucsfan1988 Says:

Oops never mind, I missed info on Bucs putting him on IR for pec injury….out 4 games minimum……..

Jesus, our secondary has taken a total BEATING this year with injuries……

  23. Bucsfan1988 Says:

    We’ve lost:

Bryce Hall – decent corner (out for year)
Antoine Winfield – been out for most of the year
Jamel Dean – always injured & out again
Christian Izien – now on IR probably rest of year
Jordan Whitehead – been out for several games & out again..
Tykee Smith – was out for a few games

Our secondary is now out put together with band-aides and bubblegum……

No wonder we see the constant soft zone from Bowles….
Been having to keep it simple all year due to constant injuries in secondary..

  24. BucU Says:

Brutal. Man. Not exactly the year we expected from our secondary when the season started. Pathetic.

  25. stpetebucsfan Says:

“No wonder we see the constant soft zone from Bowles….”

Are you daring to suggest that Bowles has to work with what is handed him?

While I agree with you that’s a trigger for many here lead by the Munchiacs.

  26. stpetebucsfan Says:

“Whitehead just came back from a 4 week injury last week. Dude is injury prone these days.”

Injury prone? Perhaps but this is not indicative of that. I think you probably meant snake bit. While people jump on here weekly to berate our training staff for players suffering the same injuries as the rest of the league I don’t believe car crashes count. Just sayin.

Jamel Dean is injury prone! Whitehead has had a tough year but not an entire career like Dean full of injuries.

  27. ElioT Says:

Disaster season for Whitehead and Winfield. Was really excited to see them back together and it’s pretty much been a lost year.

  28. IrishTony Says:

Tykee Smiths playing slot, Edwards deep safety, Merriwsather in the box Id guess

  29. IrishTony Says:

The offense should put up 30 plus so just blitz the f out of them

  30. IrishTony Says:

Ryan Neal is actually playing better this year then he did in ‘23

  31. Scotty Mack Says:

Unfortunately, I must admit, Whitehead was a super promising signing this past offseason who has been a bust. Although I hope for a speedy recovery, he really won’t be missed.

How is a car accident injury prone? 🤡

  33. LakelandSteve Says:

We just can’t catch a break this year

  34. Gofortheface30 Says:

No fan of Bowles but I think other people’s sentiments in here in regards to Bowles essentially being handcuffed is 100% fair. He really has no choice. I have to imagine that he’d be mixing up coverages and playing a bit more press if he had anyone that was worth a damn. This is the yr they needed all pro play from Antoine wi field the most and they have gotten approximately zero from him, and approximately jack shi from Jordan whitehead. I’d love nothing more than a change, but the players’ complete inability to stay healthy has f’d bowles over

  35. Badbucs Says:

Only one starter on the field. Barely second teamers even. At least it’s NO’s second team offense against our second team defense. We should be fine. Go Bucs!!

  36. DBS Says:

So how does the draft look this year?

  37. DBS Says:

Winfield got his cash and we have no dependable backups. Please don’t go looking for free agents.

  38. ChiBuc Says:

Y’all always looking for a hero to put on a pedestal and a villain to beat on. Example: Shaq vs JTS, you love to imagine the chosen son is coming home to resume his dominance….in 2023, JTS and Shaq had virtually the same stats. Example: Winfield vs Dean. Since 2020, Winfield has missed 13 games….since 2013, Dean has missed 13 games. Just because you continue to say the same thing over, and over and over, doesn’t make you right.

With that said….all jts and Dean are meh. Shaq and Winfield overhyped 1 season wonders

  39. JBBUCS_06 Says:

Aints will be motivated due to senseless act of violence on New Year’s day. Bucs MUST be focused and vigilant and play like there’s no tomorrow. Put them away early and often to make them play tryout players for next year by halftime.

  40. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    stpetebucsfan Says:
“I don’t believe car crashes count. Just sayin.”

They most certainly do. At this point he could roll over in bed and be placed on IR. Even though it was off the field, if he were not injury prone he may not have had to missed more than a game.

  41. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

The only thing that worries me with the Saints and playoffs is our secondary. Can’t wait till they fix it this off season.

  42. heyjude Says:

Sad to hear, and on his way to practice. Hope Jordan recovers well.

  43. Shake&Baker Says:

Weird to instantly put him on IR with very few details other than the fact that it seemed to be no severe injuries. Hopefully it wasn’t something like racing or a dui. Just seems like the prudent thing would have been to wait a bit instead of immediately putting him on IR.

Crash details: He was southbound on Dale Mabry and attempting to turn left (east) on to MLK Blvd, and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Whiplash type injury. Info was posted by CBS.com, Pittsburgh
