Baker Mayfield Spreading Christmas Cheer — Except To The Shipping Industry
December 25th, 2024Bucs quarterback was in the Christmas spirit yesterday at One Buc Palace. For the most part.
Mayfield had lumps of coal to put in someone’s stocking. He ordered special presents for his offensive linemen but the delivery has been delayed and they won’t get them on time for today.
Mayfield is not happy about what he referred to as “big parcel.”
But Mayfield was in the holiday spirit spreading good will to backup tight end Payne Durham. The Purdue product has been relegated to being an afterthought in the passing game after Cade Otton raised his game in the wake of the Chris Godwin injury.
Joe thinks it’s fair to say the Bucs missed Otton in Texas on Sunday night.
But Durham came through with some big catches and even absorbed a helluva hit. Joe is still a bit surprised Durham didn’t have cracked ribs. He took a shot!
So Mayfield gave Durham serious props for having a solid game for the Bucs.
“I thought Payne did a great job filling in for Cade [Otton],” Mayfield said. “I think he was able to show that some of his route running and just catching the ball – that ability – he’s got great hands.”
Before the Cowboys game, Durham has been mainly used as a blocker and he’s rather good at that. Mayfield suggested Durham is more than just a blocker.
“He’s not as twitchy as Cade but [he has] a little bit bigger frame so we trust him, and he obviously does a lot for us in the run game when Cade is playing too,” Mayfield said.
(Joe never thought of Otton as “twitchy.”)
Hopefully, Otton will be back for Sunday against the Stinking Panthers. And yeah, while Joe thought the Bucs missed Otton, it wasn’t a major dropoff with Durham.
Let’s be real: The Bucs didn’t lose to the Cowboys because of Durham.

Other than the fumble which we recovered Durham was solid Sunday night.

The Bucs lost to the Cowboys for the same reason they lost twice to the Falcons, to the Niners, and to the Chiefs .

One of the players who needed to step up.
Not like Dean or Izien or Russell or Mauch or McColllum or White or JTS or Yaya, who all proved that they are average to slightly above average but not good.
How many games do you get in this league? How many opportunities to make a play and blow it?
Everyone of these guys better think about their futures.
And it starts now.
They have to run the table. Period.

They lost cause of White’s fumblelitis

That dude that thinks Cody or Zyon is going anywhere anytime soon is tripping.

He stepped up as much as he could. Should be used more in the short passing game because he makes spectacular catches at times and at least Mc Millian is starting to step up while no one else has

Wish we could see Devin Culp get more time. That speed would be an intriguing element over the middle.

Just needed a little time in the game and he’s done a pretty good job. I think they all need to be having balls thrown to them everyday. Payne got his chance finally, now we need Gronk to come in and teach him some things in the off-season Payne could use a few more pounds to, and then daddy Gronk will have created baby Gronk. Hahaha Merry Christmas world out there..

Screw the greedy ass NFL!!!

Bucs lost because the defense gave up 26 points. Todd Bowles better have a better game plan on how to contain Bryce Young.

Merry Christmas to all the JoeBucs fans!!

The Bucs lost because they’re the Bucs …… that’s all

Baker kept throwing Durham hospital balls.

J-Mac is looking very promising IMO. The interception was just a hell of a play by the DB.
J-Mac is running sharp routes, his hands have looked good, he tracks the ball well including long balls. Chemistry with Baker is improving. He takes blocking seriously too.
He can’t replace Chris but he’s on his way to becoming a serious threat.

Inquiring minds now want to know what the “big parcel” is. Can’t wait to hear what the OL received from Baker.
Otton twitchy! That gave me a good laugh. Never thought about it either. But he does come out of nowhere on the field at times and gets the play.
