“That’s A Perfectly Executed Play!”
December 17th, 2024There was so much to like about the Bucs’ beatdown of the Chargers that Joe still doesn’t know where to begin.
A lot of Bucs fans will point to Mike Evans having a monster day. Others will revel in Baker Mayfield throwing four touchdowns.
Some Bucs fans will point to Lavonte David having a ho-hum Lavonte David game: dominant all over the field.
Still others will laugh hysterically out loud remembering Bucky Irving’s 54-yard run.
When Joe arrived at SoFi Stadium and headed to his seat, Joe saw good guy Brian Baldinger in the press box maybe 10 yards away. Joe said hi but Baldinger didnt’t hear Joe.
But Joe knew there was going to be good Bucs content coming if Baldy was there.
The former NFL offensive lineman was geeked about the Bucs play, too. Only for Baldginer, he focused on the Bucs’ offensive line.
Baldy broke down the blocking that took place on Irving’s 54-yard run, the longest run against Chargers have given up all year. Ben Bredeson, Ko Kieft and Ryan Miller (!) were the key men who helped pop Irving free.
“That’s a perfectly executed play!” Baldinger said.
It’s pretty cool, that’s for sure.
.@Buccaneers @chargers @BuckyIrving with a perfectly executed Counter Trey by everyone involved. Coaching + Talent. Bucs getting stronger. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/hSdhkLrx58

that video was a thing of beauty…
and brought an ear to ear grin to the chin

Awesome analysis. Can Baldy explain one more thing …
Who is Ryan Miller?
December 17th, 2024 at 1:08 pm
Sweet.
Everybody blocks on this team!
I’ve seen multiple instances of O-linemen 10-20 yards downfield looking for people to smash.
It’s a beautiful thing!

Did anyone else notice the multiple times on the broadcast that Derwin James was called out for a poor play? Even though he didn’t get on the stat sheet Vea was given props for wrecking the pocket. Licht probably noticed that.

Coen working in his lab late at night!

That run is what opened the flood gates and turned the game into a dismantling of the Chargers.

I noticed Miller making some good blocks throughout the game, almost as good as Godwin early in the year, and that’s why Miller is getting snaps. Palmer and JMac need to step up their blocking.

Anyone watch the last TD against the Chargers? Mikey sustained his block for like 8 seconds. Without holding. No one has mentioned it.
Watch the replay and behold, our magnificent hall of fame receiver.

Bucky helped put the finishing touches on the Chargers. Loved how Coen used him to beat down the Chargers in the 3rd quarter, and when his work was done, he sent him to the sidelines to preserve his body from taking unneeded abuse.

First, was it just a deception to have Kief line up in one spot and then shift, or was that Baker deciding to run the play differently? I am asking because I really don’t know.
Second, they aren’t mentioned in the analysis, but Goedeke and Mauch also were critical to the success of the play and executed their tasks very well.
Now, if Baker would have just gotten downfield to block the guy wearing “0” for the Chargers, …. ;). Maybe next time!

Right where Bucky burst thru a semi-arm tackle just beyond the line, White probably would have gotten pulled down. I don’t get it, they’re about the same build

Win win win. Feels so good.

That formation with two tight ends and KIEFT at fullback is deadly. Lots of counter runs and split zone runs with motion. Coen probably took a long look at 13 personnel formations and schemes when godwin and Evans were out. Great stuff. The bucs offence is hard to prepare for because of all the packages we have. Hopefully they can keep it up.

Agreed@ Colin in Canada… some key injuries forced Coens offense to be more creative, which effectively made us more diverse and dangerous.

Some nice looking blocking. That OLine is jelling. Thumbs up!
December 17th, 2024 at 9:55 pm
WOW. The pulling guard, the tight end, the full back, executed that to perfection. Great read and burst to the outside around Miller’s block by Bucky

Good call @Jethro, Mike was blocking the DB nicely on that screen

Funny thing is that my almost favorite Buc, Ryan Miller almost got a second block that would have sprung Bucky for the TD. Wow!
Give that dude some targets Liam/Baker!
Go Bucs!

Miller had been blocking great
