A.Q. Shipley: The Bucs “Are Running The Sh!t Out Of The Ball”

December 13th, 2024

Former Bucs offensive lineman and assistant coach A.Q. Shipley talks Bucs o-line.

Former Bucs Super Bowl-winning offensive lineman and former Bucs assistant offensive line coach A.Q. Shipley likes what he sees when he watches the 2024 Bucs offensive line go to work.

Shipley does a weekly segment on “The Pat McAfee Show” breaking down offensive line play around the league. This week he highlighted the Bucs and fully enjoyed watching their line pound people.

They are running the sh!t out of the ball,” Shipley said. “They are doing some very good things.”

Shipley rattled off stats for which the Bucs are among the league leaders. He seemed in disbelief that the Bucs are just 7-6. Shipley suggested teams with those kinds of offensive stats are usually dominant.

However, Shipley is also frustrated with the Bucs. He believes they are playing much better than their record suggests. And he fingers the culprit.

“They have all makings to be great,” Shipley said. “They are just losing it on defense. The defense is losing some games. That’s the difference.”

Shipley also pointed out that when the Bucs have Tristan Wirfs pull on a run play, defenders see that big ol’ truck barreling down on them and they quickly make business decisions or go for cheap shots on Wirfs’ legs.

It’s all in the video linked above.

Enjoy! Joe did.

Bucky and White should be called Shake & Bake. Bucky being the shake. Because if you’re not first your last. Maybe a promo with Taladega Nights cast will boost Buc fandom.

  6. Statisticly Insignificant Reader Says:

Yes Bucs defense is hampered by injuries But… the sorry pass rush only makes it worse. our healthy outside rushers are not getting it done.

  7. First Name Greatest Says:

No excuse for this defense even healthy they get shredded

Defensive scheme needs to be over hauled if Todd Blows returns

De, De,De,De,DEFENSIVE END, DEFENSIVE END, Many of us having been saying for 3 years. We need DEFENSIVE ENDS. It was a massive gaping glaring hole and it still is. Banking on a second year YaYa, the ghost of the ghost Johnson i. JTS, a borderline starter in Anthony Nelson, A rookie in Braswell is criminal.

All of you that keeps screaming about having no pass rush has anybody even looked to see the league leaders and sacks by teams this year. We are tied in 10th for overall sacks at 35 tied with the 49ers. The broncos lead the league with 47 and second place has 42 then as it goes down they’re all within the 30s just a sack or two above the Bucs. How can that be if we have no pass rush whatsoever riddle me this trolls….. The large problem on defense is the obvious; injuries you cannot lose half your defense and expect to stay great. Yes we took a big fall, but we have a lot of young guys over there give them props what they have done this year considering
