Dominant Bucs Run Game — It’s True!
December 10th, 2024The past two years, the Bucs’ run game was garbage. Too negative you say? Well, what else is Joe supposed to call the No. 32 team in rushing two straight seasons?
Heck, Tristan Wirfs himself was on the Buccaneers Radio Network yesterday gushing about this year’s run game a lamenting how weak it was in past seasons.
This year? Joe doesn’t know whether to thank Bucs coach Todd Bowles for hiring Liam Coen, or to thank Coen or offensive line coach Kevin Carberry — or to thank the front office for scouting and drafting Bucky Irving or jus thank Irving.
Maybe all five get kudos?
Whoever gets the props, the Bucs have made a stunning turnaround, from worst to almost first. The Bucs are fourth in yards per attempt (5.1) and eighth in rushing yards per game (138.3).
The resurrection of the Bucs’ run game is mostly from two running backs, Rachaad White and Irving. There are only two one-two punches in the NFL that have combined for 800 scrimmage yards this season.
One duo is Irving and White. The other? Jahmyr Gibbs & David Montgomery.
Pretty cool company the Bucs’ running backs are keeping there.
Meanwhile, Bucs running back No. 3, Sean Tucker, won an NFC Offensive Player of the Week award in October.

Revamped and improved line play – the addition of Graham Barton and left guard Ben Bredeson a big plus.

I would heap tons of praise on Graham Barton addition at Center. Offensive line has gelled and matured to create the running lanes necessary for this kind of exponential improvement.

So if Coen leaves, does Carberry become our new O.C.? No sense in throwing the baby out with the bath water. If Coen leaves, let’s at least keep the same scheme by promoting someone like Carberry. Maybe Joe will do an article on possible in house coaches who could take over should Coen leave.

All get kudos.
Good for Tucker too!

Joe can you answer me this.. Bucky is injured yesterday. Sean Tucker gets 3 CARRIES. 3!!!! Thatโs freakin criminal. He rushed for 47 yards yesterday and took the most of his opportunities. But man. Can we just have a game where we give him 15 carries and see what happens?!
December 10th, 2024 at 9:06 am
Trey, I agree completely. We need to get Tucker more carries, although I have to say, White did pretty good Sunday. I like the idea of two RB sets, with Tucker paired with either White or Irving. Mix things up, but at least give Tucker more carries.

Huge turnaround and I think it’s a combo of all 5! I would like to see all 3 on the filed (white in the slot) and agree that Tucker needs a few more carries a game!

In case nobody noticed, Rashaad White just won the “Angry Runs” scepter from GMF this morning. Worthy of note, methinks.

detroit’s 2 prong approach is really no joke…they’ve got about 1,800 yard between those 2 – behind that frothy OL…
but our trifecta of dudes is hanging tough…i’m not so sure we are right there with them tho…
our trio is floating in with a number of about 1,700- 1,750…not bad at all…
but they also have about double the amount of rushing td’s that we do…they have just above 20, while we have just above 10…
also, i haven’t factored in receiving yards at all…just the ground game…i’m thinking our guys just might have the better screen game…
so yeah, we are pretty much right there with detroit’s ground game…except for in the touchdown category…
but then, we have baker with 28 td’s…while goff is sitting at something like 19 if i’m correct…
so it does kind of even out in some way…
now a win in san diego this weekend would be paramount !

Coen is not leaving. He’s too smart! The Bucs are too smart. They’ll work something out like guaranteeing Coen the HC spot when Todd leaves or gets fired.
Coen could easily afford to spend a few more years refining his craft especially with the blossoming talent on O and the possibility of CG and ME returning healthy.
And so think about this from Coen’s position. Depending on what the Bucs offer would you wish to jump from a class organization with a great GM to the spit show that is the freaking New York Jets? Woody Nepobaby Johnson calling the shots? The Bears are almost as bad and how much talent is there in New Orleans right now. Perhaps Coen could trust their ownership but it’s still an uphill slog from what he’s already created.
Coens biggest career cash in would simply find a way to get guaranteed his next in the line with the Bucs.

Pretty sure Bucky and White have over 1800 as well
December 10th, 2024 at 2:11 pm
Add in Tucker and over 2000

Kudos to the whole gang ๐ค๐ผ๐ค๐ผ.
What a frigging pleasant surprise, who woulda thunk it ๐

Coen is not ready to be a HC. Heโs lucky to be here. Joe, can you kindly update that picture? These ancient images are bor-ing! So, I want to see/hear some CREATIVE calls on Offense this Sunday. Bowles is doing his best with the walking wounded Defense. Sure hope Defense Rules checks in. I, for one, miss his/her educational comments. Go Bucs!!

If Tuck could pick up the blitz he’d get more playing time.
