Accidental win.

This doesn’t even feel like a win for “this Joe.” Yeah, the Bucs won. All that matters is eating W’s. But it feels like cleaning up a bunch of puke.

This game sucked. If it wasn’t for the Stinking Panthers being, well, stinky, this would have likely been a playoff-dreams-ending loss.

And if we’re all frank, it should have been.

The offense mostly stunk. Really, really questionable playcalls and personnel usage (non-usage) from an otherwise excellent Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen.

As always, zero edge rush whatsoever, which has reached unforgivable sin-levels by the entire Bucs organization, from Team Glazer all the way down to the towel boys.

Shaky special teams play at the worst possible time.

Anthony Nelson should never have to buy a drink in the greater Tampa Bay area until the 2025s eason begins because he single-handedly saved the 2024 Bucs season.

Joe could go on. It’s a win. Thank goodness for that.

It feels like a loss. This team has serious problems if this is how it responds with a chance to tie the Dixie Chicks for the NFC South lead with five games to go, even if the playoffs are still in sight.

With so much at stake, this game shouldn’t have been remotely close.

Kudos on the win, but damn guys, you have a month’s worth of work to clean up in just a few days.

This is just not how the NFL works.

It aint college football. Anybody can beat anybody in this league.

Man so many Debbie Downers after a Bucs win, Falcons and Saints loss.

    #LoserMentality

    Go Bucs!

  2. Ds Says:

Never apologize for winning sure we can clean stuff up but a win is a win

  3. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

If the normally reliable kicker for the Panthers makes his field goals, or the refs don’t screw the Panthers on the Thielen TD, which was a TD, we lose. Simple as that!

  4. Rod Munch Says:

No idea why anyone would think this game was going to be easy. The @Panthers game is always awful, always frustrating, always terrible to watch. Personally I take nothing from this game since they always look like this. Just be glad they got the W and move on to next week.

  5. BFFL Says:

    Bowles is one lucky sob

  6. Adam’s Angry Says:

I am livid over the fact that they drove all the way to the 2 yard line with Bucky Irvin, pulled him for White, and then they couldn’t punch it in for a touchdown.

This is it. This is the evidence. The offense rolls when Irvin is in the game. The absolute second that they took him out, everything ground to a halt.

And no, I don’t care that he had a big run in overtime. White is not the spark plug of this offense. It’s Bucky. I question the coaching if they can’t see that when the whole. G** d*** m***** f***ing planet can see it. Pimple-faced teens with MADDEN see it. Stevie Wonder sees it. Helen Keller sees it. That kid from Slumdog Millionairre who had his eyeballs fried out with boiling acid sees it. No. More. WHITE!!!!!!!

  7. Tye Says:

The Glaziers Have to be interviewing for Bowels replacement behind the scenes….
    Surely they have to be!

Bowels teams struggle WAY TO OFTEN when they should win easily!….
Bowels is useless as a HC!

  8. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

The Bucs DID stink up the joint but the Panthers have been playing better ball lately. They came close to beating the Chiefs!

  9. Chad Says:

I don’t think we can clean stuff up though, Todd plays soft coverage defense and leaves the middle of the field wide open every single week. If not for baker and Bucky getting the ball close enough for a game tying field goal, the game never goes to overtime. Offense and play calls can always be adjusted, defense plays the same every single week and has cost the Bucs 4 games this year and it was almost 5

  10. Beeej Says:

Despite the blitzes, zero pressure, for the most part. Personnel would have been better used backing up whoever was playing press coverage

  11. Ramblin_Man Says:

Tbbucs3 is right. This panther team took KC all the way to the final second of regulation and played them tough the whole game.

A win is a win is a win regardless of how you get the win. Obviously there needs to be improvements but Our abucs are tied for 1st in the South!

I think the majority of you idiots would be happier if the Bucs lost.

  12. Fred McNeil Says:

Hey, Joe. Can you tell me how to sue the Glazers for all the antacids I have to devour to counterack all the heartburn their team gives me?

  13. Peter Says:

    Joe
Stop the drama it feels like a loss
No it doesn’t we at 6-6 never heard about a team taking a win in a challenging game if they make the playoffs
    Enjoy the W

  14. Buddha Says:

A win is a win is a win. This defense is so beaten up they are playing on guts and heart. Buccaneers should have won in Atlanta and refs took away another. They still count as losses.

  15. BucsBeast Says:

This Joe… I agree with. Bowles Defense pissed down its leg. And let’s be completely honest. It’s been that way pretty much all season.
Horrible performance all around. If this is the showing we’ll see in the playoffs, I’d much rather have a new HC and a higher draft pick. This game feels like a repeated kick in the nuts.

  16. ElioT Says:

Todd doesn’t want his team to play too aggressive.

Do just enough and everything should work out.

  17. Tucker Says:

Yup perfect description Joe looked like puke,so far into the season and still struggling with the simple fundamentals. Todd inspires no one and his defensive scheme is puke.

  18. Herbiebuc Says:

I already know which Joe said this, the one that predicted us to run over the panthers ! They just too the Super Bowl champs to the final drive the panthers are a good football team the nerve of Joe to criticize because we didn’t blow out an opponent! With this logic the two or losses are wins in your book @joe ? Relax and focus on the positives like Bucky Irving almost getting 200 yards from scrimmage or Mike Evan’s getting back into things we need games like this ! The fight after thieland one hand grab shows u this team is resilient!

  19. 941bucsfan Says:

Every win is tough in the nfl, especially on the road and especially vs a division opponent. I look at teams like the chiefs and vikings who week after week play in games like this.

The bucs needed to win a game like this. This is the closest margin of win the bucs have had all year.. they found a way to win, when they usually find a way to lose these games.

  20. Fred McNeil Says:

Still…I am grateful for one of the gosh darndest victories ever ever seen.

  21. Beeej Says:

So we lost Edwards today? Anyone know how bad he hurt?

  22. Beeej Says:

6 seconds and we throw a pass, THAT took balls on Todd’s part….don’t normally see that

  23. cmurda Says:

I can think of countless ifs because the ref called penalties on us or failed to call obvious penalties against our opponent. If they don’t call this etc. I don’t feel bad about the no TD call. We finally had one go our way. We deserve it.

  24. Kgh4life Says:

They say any given Sunday for a reason. The Panthers kept the game close against the Chiefs, this game shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the Bucs mediocre defense.

  25. Steven007 Says:

No need to sign your posts, Joe. Your authorial tendencies and flares give it away. Try to enjoy the win.

  26. Knothead71 Says:

I agree with “this Joe”. There is no excuse for playing this poorly coming off a bi-week.
This game should not have been close.
The Panthers are not a top tier team. But that begs the question, are the Bucs a top tier team?
My humble opinion, where we stand right now, no, the Bucs aren’t even tier 2 on the NFL.

  27. Hodad Says:

Congrats on being a .500 football team again.

  28. OHBucFan Says:

KC gets lucky with the Raiders screwing up.
Detroit lets Chicago back into the game.
How many times does it have to be said….
    This
    Is
    The
    NFL.
    Take the win.

  29. Pmike Says:

Felt like a division game. Pulling the W is all that matters in the end. Onto the Raiders….

  30. Tackleblockwin Says:

I’ll take the win. But, I agree with Joe on this one. Sloppy play and some terrible coaching/play calling.

  31. BucsfaninOregon Says:

Who dat that say Baker no good?

  32. Mike C Says:

Did anyone see the ” Stinking ” Panthers take the super bowl Champs to the brink? Maybe “this joe” should simmer down a bit.

  33. OrlandoBucFan Says:

I agree with the “win is a win” crowd. K.C. has gotten by on smoke and mirrors and barely beat Carolina next week. Surviving the point! Maybe we should recognize that Carolina is improving and not the same team they were in week 1. We won!

  34. Bucsfan Says:

So TRENTON FREAKING GILL is what you cut Jake Camarda for Jason Licht?? Give me a FREAKING BREAK this bum Gill will cost us games and tried darn hard to do it today. Cut this idiot and get us an NFL caliber punter-NOWWWW!!!!

  35. Matt_PcAfee Says:

All these post going @Joe and my posts are moterated smh

  36. Colonel Angus Says:

Do other team fans cry this much? No win is good enough for some of you sissies.

  37. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

These are how Carolina games go. These Panthers are not the same crappy team that started the season… go ask the Chiefs.

  38. Zoocomics Says:

Well… I don’t think the defense was terrible. We’re soft at ILB, period, and it doesn’t get better with an undrafted player filling in for a 5th Rounder. That contribute to Carolina’s touchdown prior to the end of regulation. Defensive players still have to tackle as well, how many times did we hit Carolina behind the line only for them to lean forward for the first down. Those are game changing downs imo. Thielen is a monster, he’s been making those catches for years.

Our def looked worse today because our offense was so bad. We had such a hard time finding any rhythm, just completely off, whether it was poor throws by Baker for INTs or dumb penalties that always had us at 3rd and long. I don’t care what anyone says, Carolina’s defense isn’t bad, I can see why they were able to punch the Chiefs in the mouth. Rarely does a Chiefs team get up multiple scores and allow a team to comeback, especially a 3-win Panthers team. Carolina’s def had to slow down the Chiefs just enough to give themselves a chance, so there’s something there. If for nothing else, they seemed to scheme very well against us. Canales has that team playing hard. I was impressed. Future looks much better than I thought for the Panthers.

  39. Joe Says:

Relax and focus on the positives like

Joe cannot relax and focus on the two or three positives when there are a dozen glaring negatives that only the irresponsible would ignore.

  40. GoneGator Says:

Defense sucked but offense may have been worse. Buck Nasty and Silky White were excellent, our passing game was pathetic for most of the game.

Overall we dropped a turd but came away with a close, OT win and gained ground on Atlanta.

Better than a loss at least

  41. Michael Says:

These guys are playing their hearts out. And we are looking for points we should have beaten them by. I’m glad I don’t look at life that way, it was a great, exciting game and we won! So proud of our boys!

  42. SenileSenior Says:

A remarkable drive in the last 35 seconds for field goal to get the tie!!

    We won ugly.

Bucs win! Bucs win! Bucs win!

  43. Bartow Buc Says:

Great teams find a way to win!!! And our Bucs found a way to win !!! I am very happy they won !!!

Go Bucs !!! Beat the Raiders !!!

  44. George Says:

On the podcasts with ira you guys have been to tough on the buck. There schedule compared to Atlanta has been much harder. Except for Buffalo they have played every preseason super bowl pick. The 1st vs 2nd place schedule has been a big disadvantage

  45. Let ‘em bake Says:

We won. No opponent is gravy. Like I said, Dave has his guys playing hard. Every year, a handful of games goes like this. Liam calling that pulling run on the goal line will be a learning lesson. That should’ve been 7. This running game is only going to develop. Smile.

  46. Bobby M. Says:

There are no gimmies….got the W but we aren’t going far with this defense/HC. Mayfield didn’t play well but that happens to every QB, some days they’re just off. Bowles defense is so unbelievably mediocre, the QB has to be perfect because this defense can’t stop anyone. Don’t expect that to change, it’s been this way since Bowles took over….3 yrs ago. The scheme is backwards….his best shot at sacks/pressure is blitzing Winfield. That means our best secondary player is not in the secondary on obvious passing downs. Why Bowles can’t get his front seven to apply pressure on obvious passing downs is perplexing.

  47. LUVMYBUCS Says:

WTF! A win is a freakin win, dude.

    Go Bucs!

  48. Les Says:

Get are old punter back ! Now ! Work through his problems . We can’t depend on gill.

  49. Dave Pear Says:

Whichever Joe this is — Preach on. The team is a reflection of their two-franchise loser head coich who just let Bryce Young have the best game of his young career, as predicted. The 15 yard cushions and give them the 20 yard underneath completion or sideline catch is (a) puzzling, (b) self-defeating, (c) incompetent……..and yet he continues to call such.

The only thing sad about the win is he has a better chance of being retained for another year.

The Glazers and Jason aren’t blind, though. Best do better every week from now on, Coich.

  50. unbelievable Says:

This team has serious problems if this is how it responds with a chance to tie the Dixie Chicks for the NFC South lead with five games to go, even if the playoffs are still in sight.

Joe, have you not been paying attention?

That has been the defining trademark of Todd Bowles’ teams since he because the head coach. We do this every season under him- showing up lifeless when the division is on the line late in the season.

  51. Tony Says:

Even though it’s a win WE BARELY BEAT FLATTOP &. CARROT TOP (Bryce & Dalton). Still say 9-8. I said it from the beginning & I’m sticking with it.

  52. Itzok Says:

A win is a win. Great win when you aren’t playing your best. There were a lot of clutch plays to get that win.

The pass defense is garbage. Zero edge rush, slow linebackers, and piss poor secondary. Sick of Dean, Winfield has dropped off since getting paid.

  53. Dave Pear Says:

A win is not a win. Snowflakes love to say that. This was a garbage performance requiring a lucky miracle by a dude who hasn’t been starting yet should have been all along. This result only further exposes the glaring ineptitude and refusal to change, adjust, react to situations, Coach situationally…..whatever.

Just fire him as soon as possible.

You and I butt heads a lot, but I’m with you 1000% here. I’m always posting that the Bucs have to play 2 teams: Their opponent and the refs.
