Rich Eisen: Bucs Will Be A 10-7 Wild Card Team

November 29th, 2024

“Mr. Glazer, let me show you the schedule again.”

So the signature voice of NFL Network is surely one that grabs attention in the expensive offices at One Buc Palace.

That’s Rich Eisen. And in a deep dive on game schedules and what NFC teams could make the playoffs, the host of The Rich Eisen Show said the Bucs will be the final Wild Card team (No. 7 seed) with a 10-7 record.

Eisen says Atlanta (6-5) will win the NFC South with the same record while the Bucs (5-6) pull out the tiebreaker card with Washington “out of their back pocket and throw it on the table.”

Obviously, Eisen sees the other two Wild Card teams coming out of the NFC North.

So expectations are high for Tampa Bay around the country, and that will rise significantly if the Bucs beat the Panthers on Sunday and more pundits familiarize themselves with the Bucs pumpking-pie-soft schedule.

Joe wonders how much these realities have raised expectations for Team Glazer when it comes to their head coach.

If the Bucs don’t get in the playoffs or, are one & done, Bowles is good as gone. Glazers will have seen enough. I like and respect Todd Bowles very much but, his record as a head coach is what it is. Sub 500 W/L record.

  2. Tye Says:

IF……. Bowles is good as gone.

Every year and the guy still has yet to be FIRED!
Each season more annoying than the last!

  3. Saskbucs Says:

I agree Bucs and Them. I think most of us feel that way. We cannot consistently beat the good teams. He hasn’t shown it in 3 seasons. Have to beat 3 or 4 good teams to win a SB. I like Todd, with a good roster like we have now, he could maybe keep getting us to the divisional round. Thats not the goal and it shouldn’t be good enough for us fans.

The next posters will say grass isn’t always greener and that’s obviously true, but we have made 2 good OC hires the last couple years and I don’t believe that line of thinking is giving the front office enough credit. They should have our trust by now.

  4. Stillabucsfan Says:

No Bucs will be 10-7 division winner

  5. Joe in Michigan Says:

Kirk Cousins had 8 TD passes in 2 games vs. the Bucs. He has 9 TD’s in 9 games vs. the rest of the league. Why should/would anyone trust a Todd Bowles led defense to stop (or even slow down) an average NFL QB such as Derek Carr?

  6. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

    Unlikely

  7. Let em bake Says:

Idiocy on this board . You don’t fire a coach who gets you to the playoffs , unless your the chargers , who fired shottenhiemer . How’d that work out? 32 teams. Bowles got last years team to the final remaining 8. If he does it this year, navigating all the injuries, a statue should be erected…

  8. Pmike Says:

Amen!!! Thanks Bowles for almost half a decade of winning in Tampa. Yeah we go through our ups and downs but it’s nice to be winning the division and making the playoffs consistently.

  9. Joe in Michigan Says:

Let em bake: Luckily they don’t build statues for mediocrity, otherwise they’d be a dime a dozen.

  10. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Isn’t it funny how a coaching change can effect how an entire team plays? Look at San Diego for instance, their qb has been great since he’s been in this league as a rookie but has never been able to turn that corner but now with a Harbaugh brother running that show he’s better and that defense is much improved. Bowles taking us to the playoffs and the NFC South title three years in a row is a bunch of smoke and mirrors. His defensive scheme is useless at stopping offenses which is evident because our defense has gotten worse each yearwith him at the helm. He has single handedly wasted the improvement that Coen has made and the almost near elite play Baker has given us, and yet almost none of us will be unhappy if he’s able to guide us to an unthinkable Championship ring

  11. Pewter Power Says:

You do fire a coach who doesn’t make progress. Wildcard and one and done is not progress. If dungy could get the boot I’m not sure why people think Bowles would deserve to stay as if he’s been a good coach. Eisen I think didn’t really look over the NFC West. Everyone is just guessing lol just ask Raheem Morris how that race to 10 mantra worked out. Win out that way you can say you did all you can do

  12. Buddha Says:

    Can’t beat the good teams!?

    What BS.

    Buccaneers 37-Commanders-20
    Buccaneers 20 Lions 16
    Buccaneers 33 Eagles 16

  13. Pmike Says:

You guys asking for Bowles head might not get what you want.

Could you imagine Coen going to the Bears and Eberflaus getting hired by the Bucs?

    I can…

  14. Joe in Michigan Says:

Pmike: Yeah, the Bucs would hire a guy with the same problems in Eberflus as they already have with Bowles. 🙄 Zero chance.

  15. Bucs Guy Says:

If Bowles is fired, Coen will be the new HC. Ghost of Dirk Koeter.

  16. Badbucs Says:

Bowles has been the sacrificial lamb all along. No really good coach wanted to Shepard the Bucs through dead cap hell after blowing the wad on the Brady superbowl. Todd was just good enough. He’ll get us through this year with another mediocre record playing with inferior players from 60 million in dead cap not paid to players on the field. A new savior will be brought in with a shiny new cap almost unencumbered by retired players. FO will look like geniuses. I hope Coen at least gets a shot at at the job or can be retained by the new regime. Sorry Todd. You were set up by ruthless business men. Used and abused. Rode hard and put away wet. You’ll land somewhere if you don’t retire. Pawn in a master plan. Thanks for keeping us mediocre, it could have been much worse. Good luck sir.

  17. Ha-Ha-Ha Says:

I’m surprised the Bears fired their coach middle of the season.
I’d be more surprised if Todd isn’t back next year.
Why is it that every defensive coordinator that becomes
a head coach can find a coordinator to run their
defensive scheme except for Coach Toilet Bowl?
His failure to get said coordinator is why his defense
    regresses over time.
Hiring one may hurt his ego, but save his job.
I’ve said all along, he’ll get 4 of his 5 years before the G boys make a decision.

  18. Player 1 Says:

He misspelled the Bucs will win the NFC South for the 5th consecutive time

  19. garro Says:

    Sorry Joes
No longer have much faith in Mr. Rich Eisen. He lost me during the pre-season piling on of the Bucs.

So along with most of the main sports media click baiters I will not so respectfuly ignore his words.

    Go Bucs!
