Murdering The Stinking Panthers On Third Downs

The Bucs are behind the eight ball as far as fighting for a playoff berth. And Mike Evans is behind the eight ball when it comes to extending his record streak of 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
Evans missed three games with a hamstring injury and really wasn’t fully lighting up defenses before his hamstring, either. Evans needs to average just a hair under 100 yards a game the rest of the way to keep his streak alive.
That’s a high bar for a guy that defenses will clearly be trying to take out. But could that road begin Sunday?
Per Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis, few teams get roasted on a regular basis on third downs quite like the Stinking Panthers.
While the Stinking Panthers give up the booty on third downs, the Bucs are one of the best teams in the league at converting third downs.
* Tampa Bay has converted 50.4% of their third downs (2nd) and 33.3% of their third-and-long downs, the highest rate in the league.
* Carolina has allowed opponents to convert a league-high 49.3% of their third downs.
There you have it. And since Evans will be ganged up on, someone else ought to be open, too.
Joe has to keep in mind it was the terrible Giants the Bucs faced last week. But man, Joe thought the Bucs looked crisper, sharper in the passing game. That had to be because Evans returned.
Joe knows Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen sure thought so.

Throw out all the stats and play EVERY team like they’re the best in the league.

Just continue to spread tbe ball around early. Evans will be ooen late if you don’t force feed him.

I am not too worried about the teams overall defensive talent based on rankings. I know in my head they’ve had some tough times with injuries and it’s effected the overall teams ability to succeed because of it.
I know in the offseason defense and overall depth is going to be a huge get for this team.
Calijah Kancey missed like what 5 games to start the season. Granted we started fairly strong in the W/L column he still was a huge missing piece to this team’s ability to gain chemistry.
Jamel Dean also got hurt for awhile there, as did Antoine Winfield Jr and even Zyon got hurt. Tykee Smith has been hurt most of the season. I can’t even imagine what they’d be able to do if all fully healthy and 100%. Adding talent to this side of the ball is going to be a huge problem for opposing teams. I can’t wait to watch TB improve.
I’d like too see the backups start getting more reps in blowout games. Just saying. Every little bit helps the starters rest up and get healthier.
Also more exp for backups can help show our weaknesses which in turn only makes us stronger down the road.

Our defense is just as bad as the panthers.. this might be a closer game then people think.. Canles knows Bowles terrible defense.

Canales knows Bowles’ defense. David Moore had a breakout game against the Chiefs. I won’t be surprised if Carolina puts up some points.
