Aggressive
November 25th, 2024Joe thinks a former Bucs quarterback used the perfect word to describe the current Bucs quarterback.
That would be “aggressive.”
Chris Simms yesterday on NBC broke down how Florida quarterbacks not named “Trevor Lawrence” ruled the day.
Joe is really only interested in the one who wears a pewter helmet. That would be Baker Mayfield.
Simms referred to Mayfield’s play as “aggressive.” That’s dead on. Of course, it helps that Mayfield’s offensive coordinator and playcaller Liam Coen believes in being aggressive.
Joe doesn’t think “aggressive” properly described Dave Canales, last year’s Bucs playcaller, though at times Canales was aggressive. The win at Green Bay last December springs to mind. Canales was very aggressive that chilly, gray northern Wisconsin day. And look at the results!
Unemployed offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich? He wasn’t aggressive. More like comatose.
Joe thinks that’s why Bucs fans have embraced Coen so much. He’s not just a good coordinator — look at how he has overseen a monster transformation of the Bucs offense — but he’s also aggressive.
People like folks who are aggressive at their craft.

Aggressive is great unless that means leaving your star QB in the game during garbage time when the outcome is decided. This continual usgae of Baker when the outcome is decided will lead nowhere good. Someone in the media needs to pin Bowles down on why he is risking baker and the Bucs’ season.

I agree on getting Bowles to coment. However, my guess, It is Baker’s team and he is not pulling him. He did not pull anyother starters either did he?. Guess he did not want to take his foot off the gas and let the team build needed confidence and momentum, nothing else makes sense. I cant say I agree, especially after what we have seen occur at the end of prior games. Look at Whitehead, hat was at the end too.
We know Bowles does what he does and doesn’t often change.
Although I did see him finally do some things on defnse that fans and the media have been screeming about. He of course said it was all due to Mike Edwards. OK then there you have it.
The defense’s answer all along was Mike Edwards!!!

……..Baker doesn’t come out of games because he loves to play.. Any one remember he played an entire season with a broken/torn shoulder?
He’s not a quitter.

Come on man you got to be kidding me. That is 100% the veteran QBs call on any team in the NFL. This isn’t baseball where the coach can just pull his pitcher with no say from said pitcher. That’s Bakers team we don’t need to treat this like flag football

In his postgame locker room speech Bowles indicated they had been stressing “finishing” and “closing out” games. Baker was in there, playing aggressively, to work on that, I bet. Bowles didn’t think they closed out well.

Any team with this fraud “leading” it can’t and won’t finish. Look how sloppy things got. Fumbles. Cover Who rearing its ugly face. Expect the Bucs to play against Carolina like you saw in the second half yesterday. The Ginats tied the second half and outplayed the Bucs for 30 minutes.
Way to teach ‘em how to finish, Coich.

I hope if it comes down to keeping Coen or losing him to another team for a HC position that we keep him and kick Bowles to the curb.
November 25th, 2024 at 11:43 am
No matter how this season plays out the Bucs would be very foolish to let Liam Coen leave the organization.
November 25th, 2024 at 11:59 am
Coen isn’t going anywhere. There will be a succsession plan in place this offseason, if Bowles isn’t let go altogether. As high as we are with this win a loss at home next week ain’t out of the realm of pssibility. Bowles ain’t safe just for beating the Giants.

How many good NFL OC’s get the HC opportunity and they are not the same? We should hope we do keep Coen, Yet if he is offered a HC job. We should be happy for him. Even if it is in New Orleans… Like we where for OC Caneles to the panthers, Morris to the falcons… Why worry about that possible outcome with games left on the table…? Why not support the OC and HC who are here? We just beat another NFL team 30-7… We should as a fan base be happy with this… not so many are… Many sound like they would complain if it were raining gold nuggets…. just to complain. Must be such enjoyable folks to hangout with…

Baker Mayfield has no choice but to be aggressive because the team’s back is against the wall. Losing just one game down the stretch would severely hurt its chances to make the playoffs. I just hope that Mayfield’s sense of urgency is spreading to his teammates. He is exhibiting good leadership in the locker room and on the field.

Is there such a thing as an algorithm that weeds out fake fans? I bet there is. Only problem would be the lack of $clicks. This game in Charlotte will be Coen vs. Canales. Bucs have to be ready to outplay the usual 2 teams: Panthers and refs. My money is on the Bucs. How about winning 6 games in a row, Bucs? It’s doable. BTW, where is Defense Rules? I hope they are okay.

Man some fans just want to bïtch and moan. It’s really more insight into their miserable existence and not the state of the Bucs.

Winston was aggressive and was run out of town
November 25th, 2024 at 2:54 pm
Personally, I don’t see taking good players out of a game as a reward. I especially don’t see it when the team has lately not finished games. This was a big high for our starters to stay in. I guess, as usual, few share my opinion.

Ain’t that the truth!

Simms is correct, aggressiveness is one of Baker’s many traits. He has that grit with a fun vibe.
Agree with A Bucs Fan and others. Baker is not a quitter. One of his best traits.

I’m for pulling guys…
But maybe Baker has contractual incentives to stay in the game?
