“Sense Of Calm”

November 15th, 2024

No panic.

For Bucs fans, there is a whole lotta hope and prayer to be banked on the next seven weeks.

The Bucs are 4-6. They are effectively three games behind Atlanta in the division race as the Dixie Chicks hold the tiebreaker.

The Bucs are just one win better than the lowly Stinking Panthers and the bottom-feeding slimy Saints.

That’s right. Former Bucs offensive coordinator and Stinking Panthers coach Dave Canales is nipping at the Bucs’ heels with a team that arguably has the worst talent of any roster in the league.

Jenna Laine of ESPN sort of takes the temperature of the Bucs’ locker room as players headed off to enjoy their bye week.

Tangible second-half goal: Make the playoffs. Despite being without Evans, Godwin and cornerback Jamel Dean (Evans and Dean are expected to return), there’s a sense of calm because, as several players have noted, “We’ve been here before.” The Bucs won five out of their last six games last season to win the NFC South, and they face only one winning team after their Week 11 bye.

Just because the Bucs caught fire in the second half last year doesn’t mean that will automatically happen this year. Last year the Bucs had Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on the field. That’s not the case the next seven weeks.

Joe has little trust because of the way the Bucs are playing defense, or not playing defense. Joe doesn’t give two s(p)its what the record of the opponent is.

If a defense can’t stop teams, trying to cobble together a 6-1 run to finish the regular season is awfully challenging.

I’m not real optimistic at all.

  2. Permanently Moderated Says:

They ought to be pizzed off instead of calm. Being cool with how things are currently going isn’t very impressive.

  3. Jw94buc Says:

Im predicting the offense will be even better w/ Evans back. And the defense will still be insufferable.

  4. Baker Bowl Says:

I never thought I’d say this but I’m a HUGE Sean Peyton Fan this weekend, I hope his Broncos can send the Falcons spiraling til the end of the season. I can’t wait for Kirk to choke this division

  5. DBS Says:

Ok I will say it. If Evans gets back can he stay back?? Even with him teams will know the main target. Licht still sitting on his hands not finding a real #2 to go with him if Palmer is not it.

  6. LVMYBUCS Says:

I really cant be happy making the playoff or even wining a division when ur division record sucked. Bowls has reached his ceiling u and I know it he will never get us to the SB so why prolong his stay, get us a coach with vision not some excuse making not fixing but praying for easy games to make the playoff just to lose HC

  7. Big Red Says:

Bowles doesn’t draft and sign the players. He is the one having JTT and Vita Vea drop back into zone coverage though lol…

  8. MelvinJunior Says:

“Jw94buc” – That’s quite the prediction… Ya really went out on the ledge there, with that one, by PREDICTING that the Bucs will be better WITH Mike Evans, than withOUT HIM LoL. Wow.

  9. BucsfaninOregon Says:

We will not win out. Two loses at a minimum.

  10. Upstate NY BUC Says:

The Bucs defense this year reminds me of when I was a kid, everyone would just line up and free lance cover who ever you felt like!!! They just looke lost and confused so far?? I will be closely watching the defensive backfield from the south endzone at the Giants game, please don,t embarrass show some pride, thanks. Go Bucs..

  11. D-Rok Says:

I watched some of the Skins-Eagles game last night. The way the Skins use 2 RB’s in different formations and motions is pure genius. Sure, they lost because of that stud Barkley, but that was cool to see from Washington.

I wonder if Coen was taking notes how he could better use his “3-headed monster” we have at RB?

(PS: Sorry, they will always be the Redskins to me).

  12. rrsrq Says:

That’s why they brought back Big Play Mike Edwards. Next year you will see SMB and Devin White back and all will be well again with the defense, lol

  13. Pewter Power Says:

There is no one here Todd Bowles didn’t want. Licht gets them into camp Bowles picks his players. Making the playoffs because we beat up on a bunch of trash teams I’m confused how anyone could be amped about it. Very few trash teams in the playoffs and we would be one of them solely because of the head coach who’s so in Lovie with his scheme he can’t evolve from week to week or in game

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

Nothing wrong with Hope. But Hope is a terrible thing when it does not materialize. These Bucs are done. You can believe that.

  15. Crack3rK Says:

    I’d prefer a sense of urgency…

  16. Baking with Coen Says:

Just because the Bucs caught fire in the second half last year doesn’t mean that will automatically happen this year. – Joe

But but but I thought you were a history fanatic????

Oh I know. Is the other Joe. My bad! lol

  17. Baking with Coen Says:

    Is Mike Edward resigning?

    C’mon Joe. Get on it!

  18. Baking with Coen Says:

    Mike Edward’s is back!
We are going to the Super Bowl!!!

  19. Bosch Says:

Bucs finish a Bowles like 8-9. Then what do the Gazers do? Give Bowles a Pass due to injuries? I sure hope not, but I wouldn’t put it past them. Fans have zero influence over Glazers decisions.

Side note. Bowles is 21-23 as Bucs HC. 22-25 including playoffs. I haven’t researched Bowles defensive 4Q/OT stats but suffice it to say not good. It is a forgone conclusion that this team does not have a winning future with Bowles at the helm. Logic says that a change in HC is more likely than not to be an improvement.

  20. PSL Bob Says:

The defense definitely, needs to play with their hair on fire, if we have any chance of making the playoffs. However, Baker’s accuracy could improve a little as well. He made some great throws last week, but he missed open receivers on a few plays that would have at least kept drives going, and perhaps led to putting up more points. With Evans and Godwin out, he’s going to have to play near perfectly for us to put another 6 wins up on the board.

  21. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

We won’t win any of the remaining games as long as we keep letting other teams stay close. Giving hope to losing teams is always a disaster. We could have beaten K.C., San Fran and Atlanta easily if we’d stop playing “prevent.”

  22. BallHawk75 Says:

What’s your prediction for the rest of the season? Pain.

Todd Bowles is so predictable and stupid, he runs the RB straight ahead into the DL on first and goal twice with the same lousy results.

Then his sub par loser QB can’t make a simple 6 yard pass to a wide open receiver.

He’s tailor made for any team with a pulse, and he’s going to get hurt.

News flash: The Saints beat the Falcons with a patchwork roster.

We couldn’t beat the Falcons once. Season over.

  23. Dave Pear Says:

Yep. Nearly 80% of Bucs fans are calmly hoping for Lovie to be a professor at Temple in three months.

  24. Day 1-76 Says:

We will go through every year until bowles is fired.

  25. Dewey Selmon Says:

The only 2 coaches to raise a SB trophy for us are not calm men. learn from that. Takes a little fire in the belly.

  26. Bucsfan Says:

Bucs will tell you on the field over the next 7 games how much they want Todd back as coach…………………….

  27. Bucben1961 Says:

The season faded away when Todd Bowles chose not to go for 2 against KC for the win. It was a much bigger deal than most realize. I love my team and I love our players but it’s time for Todd to fade away.

  28. Fred Says:

If the def plays better after the bye we wont lose the rest of the season

  29. Henry Says:

What a waste of words. The season is over Rover. Coach Repus Bowles will win just enough games to 1. save his job and 2. secure a middling 1st round draft pick.

  30. Bucfan Says:

Please do NOT win any of the meaningless games. A win or two and todd will be back to screw up another season!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. Pmike Says:

Can we do a flash poll if the commanders should have piled their starters last night?

Kinda stupid playing till the end right?

Todd didn’t call those plays dumbazz.
But anyway….lets hear your answers to our “issues”. Fire the coach? Replace him with who? Get a new QB? Who do you have in mind? Trask to the future maybe?

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If the Bucs only lose one more game, Bowles keeps his job.

  34. Baking with Coen Says:

    Lol

  35. BallHawk75 Says:

    @GoneGator

TB zero has the say over the direction of the team. He likes to play conservative and try not to lose, while failing miserably more than he succeeds. Guaranteed he wanted to play it safe on the goal line and play for OT

But he forgot that his Swiss cheese defense couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat.

Coen should be the head coach. We need an offensive minded head coach that plays to win. Weird how much you want to defend Bowels. It’s almost as if you are happy to lose with him than win without him?

We’re stuck with Faker for two more years. I’d like to see a QB drafted with wheels and an arm that is more than four foot tall. That would help eliminate all the batted balls at the line.
