Only Mike Evans Is Ruled Out For 49ers

November 8th, 2024

Injury status.

While Bucs coach Todd Bowles wasn’t sure if defensive tackle Greg Gaines or wide receiver Jalen McMillan will play Sunday, he didn’t rule them out.

In fact, the only active Bucs player ruled out is Mike Evans. Bowles suggested it would be a game-time decision for both.

As for quarterback Baker Mayfield, who missed Wednesday and Thursday’s walk-through practices with a toe injury, he did practice today.

“He looked sharp today, so he’ll be okay,” Bowles said of Mayfield.

As for the status of Evans’ return, Bowles isn’t sure. It was hoped be ready after the bye when the Bucs travel to New Jersey to play the Giants on Nov. 24.

Bowles said he really doesn’t know when Evans will be able to hit the field again but he’s improving after a nasty hamstring injury.

“I see him getting better every day. When they tell me he’s ready, he’s ready,” Bowles said.

Sunday against San Francisco is the Bucs’ final game before their bye.

I want some emotion and enthusiasm from this damn coach, he’s coaching for our season and his job and it sounds like he’d giving a eulogy every presser!! I want to see some yelling and screaming Sunday from Bowles, Please!!! Go Bucs

  2. Pmike Says:

At this point we need to keep Mike out as long as we can. Offense is fine without him, especially with the schedule we have after the bye. Also allow the you gets guys to get play time is invaluable for their development as well as the development of our offense for the next 5 years. Let’s not be short minded right now. He needs to be 100% if we sneak into the playoffs and needs time so this doesn’t lag into next year/rest of his career.

  3. LVMYBUCS Says:

It dont matter because the middle of the field will be open all game

You’re going to be waiting for a long time. That’s not him.

When Jason tells Lovie2 he’s fired, he’s fired.

  6. Kenton Smith Says:

Todd is OK. I mean it’s hard to be “excited” when you’ve lost 4 of 5. Hopefully he gets “excited” again soon!

There is only one guy that should be ruled out against the Niners at that is Bowles. He will find a way to have another brain fart and screw things up.

Bowles stoic nature is a plus. Never too high, never to low. Goes out of his way to avoid criticism of players publicly. His players respect him and want to perform for him. Bryce hall injury , like there have stated, along with Dennis, is simply hard sledding with so many udfa players filling the gaps. I believed 9-8 at seasons start, think that’s realistic. Playoffs? Dunno….

  9. Joe in Michigan Says:

Let em Bake: Devin White wanted to “perform” for Bowles last year? Whitehead this year? The 9 game starter at OLB that has 1 sack? Do you watch the games?

  10. Dave Pear Says:

No one cares that Lovie2 is stoic. What chaps our butts is the NFL has figured out his defensive “schemes.” The old excuse was “he gives up yards but not points.” Which is an absolute aberration, if you give up the most yards in the league, points given up will correlate. As they are now.

    Jason knows. The Glazers know.

Lovie2 will be teaching college or selling grills come Tuesday (hopefully) or January.

I’m fine with Bowles as head coach the rest of the season, and I don’t see the point in harping on him being here until then. It’s not like we have a say in the matter.

The good news is we have a fairly easy schedule going forward, with only a few exceptions. We could still go 8-9 or 9-8.

Still not enough to save Bowles job in my opinion…he’d have to win 10+ games and make the playoffs.
