“Ain’t No Panic For Us”

November 6th, 2024

There’s no ambivalence in the Bucs when it comes to their three-game losing streak.

They hate it, and it’s not just because it’s come against good teams and has put their playoff hopes in jeopardy

Iconic Bucs linebacker Lavonte David made that clear in the Bucs’ locker room and said the team will start winning and change isn’t required.

“We just got to stay together. Stay together. There ain’t no panic for us. You know what I’m saying?” David said. “We’re just going to stay together and keep on working and this is going to turn around. We got a great group of guys, a great group of leaders, some guys who really want to win football games. And obviously, these losses, three in a row, that’s not something that we’re trying to do. … So we’re definitely going to figure it out and turn this thing into dubs.”

David had a lot of fire in his voice, as heard on the Buccaneers Radio Network.

Joe hopes the Bucs are angry, but Joe is not counting on that.

In many ways, the Bucs have taken on the demeanor of their head coach: steady, unwavering, relentless, etc. Joe suspects there were no food fights, finger-pointing or bitter words at last week’s dinner.

That worked for the Bucs last season. And it should work for them again, assuming Todd Bowles can coach his way to delivering an average NFL defense in the second half of the season.

No panic as in they know and accept they’re not winning another game with a Lovie defense that gives up a gazillion points a game and can’t stop an offense from getting a TD at the opening of OT.

    Disgrace.

  2. Rover Says:

Is Sirvocea Dennis walking back on that field?? Season is a wrap as long as 52 is playing every defensive possession. Go Bucs!

  3. Pmike Says:

Interesting that the players are backing the leadership while us fans are jumping ship. Statements like that from veterans mean much more than speculation.

Also really glad to see clips during the game of David chewing young players out for missing plays. He really looked during the chiefs game. Was also impressed with the few plays I saw Braswell penetrating the line making tackles. He still looks small on defense, but I imagine a good offseason of pushing weights and growth will change that next year.

You can see the fear/worry in Mahomes eyes every time he plays the Bucs. No matter how much he rip on Bowles, the players in the NFL don’t ever write him off

  4. Permanently Moderated Says:

Nobody is jumping ship, but we are pretty darn seasick.

  5. El HEFE Says:

@pmike my exact thoughts the players back Todd but as fans everyone is jumping ship maybe Todd takes a lot of the responsibility because players are not executing like they are supposed to

  6. Hodad Says:

We’ll see what our record is when it’s all said, and done. Licht, and the Glazers will make a decision on how we can get better, and if changing coachesneeds to be done. Until then, enjoy the rest of the season as best you can.

  7. bucnjim Says:

A win against the beatable 49ers would go a long way. Tough job on a short week, but definitely doable. If the D can play at least average like they did against KC we will win this game. The offense again will put up 24 so let’s freaking go.

  8. Steven007 Says:

Mccaffrey will be back but likely/ hopefully rusty. Of course, this may just be the run defense to work out that rust, we shall see. But for sure a winnable game if things don’t go sideways.

  9. JustOneGame Says:

Of course David will back Bowles. David along with Evans and Godwin are ultimate pros. They will do what’s asked of them no matter how dire the situation. But the truth is 4-5 staring 4-6 in the face and a career losing record is all you need to know.

I wouldn’t say fans are “jumping ship” just holding the “guru” accountable. It’s ok to not accept mediocrity as a fan. After all it’s our money that pays his salary.

I’m sure Bowles is a nice dude, but if being a nice dude doesn’t correlate to wins then you’ll be on the chopping block just like a a$$hat with a losing record.

  10. Baking with Coen Says:

To have any hope we need Baker staying away from throwing picks. Then we must overcome our defense playing bad, referees and Bowles decision making.

Other than that we got this!!!!!lol

Let’s Buck, TUCK, White and Bake!!!

  11. Joe Mac Says:

Izien needs to start. He may be our best DB.

Tykes Smith, Izien and Winfield need to ALWAYS be on the field.

    They make plays! Force fumbles!

    Bench Whitehead!

And sign Zion’s twin next year.

And draft a CB in round 1 and 2!

  12. Oxycondomns Says:

was watching that wirfs face mask that ruined the drive. im not sure why people were upset it wasnt a face mask but it was definitely holding

  13. Stillabucsfan Says:

Drafting corners in round 1 and 2 won’t mean 💩 if we don’t get more consistent pass rush. Also ilb needs to be addressed, Lavonte can’t play forever

  14. Saskbucs Says:

8 games left and I am confident this team will be over .500 the rest of the way. Enough to win division, no but should be enough for a playoff spot.

It is another season that will be tough to quantify Bowles impact. Is this actually a 7-10 club that Bowles helped get to 9-8 because the players love him?
OR and I believe many fans including myself think this, is it a 10-7/ 11-6 club that Bowles lets down with his game management and costs us 2 wins every year?

We may have lost both games anyway but that is 2 code turtles on the season now. ATL game 1 and KC. Add bad prep for Denver and a couple 500 yard games vs your D… better go on another run to the divisional round Bowles. This .500 rollercoaster ends in a valley and not on a peak, he should be looking elsewhere for employment!

  15. HC Grover Says:

It aint the team. It is Bowles coaching blunders.

  16. Pewter Power Says:

I don’t understand why people keep calling the niners beatable when they’ve been playing without cmc

  17. Saskbucs Says:

Fans discussing draft needs, its obvious again where picks need to go…

LB, CB, DL , BPA in no particular order for probably the first 4 rounds.
LG, WR and TE next up.

Good news is that FA should help fill a couple of those holes as well… with Coen in tow, Bucs can be stacked up for 2025.

  18. heyjude Says:

LD is stating the same philosophy as Coach Bowles. “Stay Together.” It’s catchy and I am on board with it too. The team stands by Todd. He has never lost the locker room when so many coaches in the league have. That says so much too. The Bucs will persevere. They have done it before and will do it again. Go Bucs!

  19. GoneGator Says:

    @Dave Pear
What happened to you bro? You used to post/discuss….. now EVERY post by you is the same ie.
Todd sucks! No matter what the topic is, Todd sucks. Todd sucks. Todd sucks.

STFU for gawds sake. Do you think there is a single reader who doesn’t know you think Todd coaches defense horribly?

  20. Ed Says:

Other than LD our linebackers have no instincts, particularly in covering up the holes in those zones. I still can’t believe they can’t get someone to play a more physical edge than JTS and Nelson. Diaby is good, not making big sacks but you see he has athletic ability and will hit people. The others? No production at all. Bowles is against benching unproductive starters. Once you become a starter on the Bucs the only way you don’t play is if you are injured. I don’t get that, how about reducing their reps and replacing them if they go 3-4 games with no tackles, sacks or pass breakups. Another words, if you are invisible and don’t make any plays, you don’t play!

  21. #1bucsfan Says:

I’ll say it again when in the hell did lovie and mike smith start coaching our defense again ? People keep saying look at what happened last year well this ain’t last year get it together bowels over our defense being the largest sieve in the world

  22. Bucsfan Says:

    Yawn

  23. Crickett Baker Says:

I am one person who thought the defense was coached well. We took an undefeated team with the best QB in the league into overtime on a rainy night without our best WRs. The game was exciting. The game was very close with some on our defense (and offence) making really great plays. I don’t want a new HC and DC. I think most of you are looking at a glass half empty instead of one half filled.

  24. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

I’ve got good news for the Bucs on Sunday.
I have cmc in my fantasy football team.
I guarantee you he will be scratched for Sundays game.
It’s worked all nine games so far this year.
Trust me, no cmc. It’s all noise.

  25. Pmike Says:

Amen. My eye test when I watch the team shows a young group learning rhythms of the game you can’t teach, you just have to get the experience. When we get those penalties that are BS, they deflate our team and usually takes a new drive to bring the mojo back. Super Bowl teams know how to brush that stuff off on the next play.

  26. Bartow Buc Says:

They stepped up against the Chiefs. Our Defense played better against MaHomes. Let’s hope the Bucs defense steps up again against Brock Purdy. If so we can win this game and go 5-5 !!

    Go Bucs !! L G !!

  27. BAKERSBucs says Says:

    Dave pear u r a creep

  28. FumUnda Says:

Better luck next year. This season is over.
