Greg Olson Shows Patience, Maturity
September 19th, 2010There was offensive coordinator Greg Olson pounding the ball with Cadillac Williams all game long today against Carolina.
As Raheem Morris said in his postgame news conference, “It’s not last year.”
Joe is impressed by Olson’s commitment to the run, especially considering it wasn’t working. Cadillac had his second rough game in a row, banging 27 carries for 51 yards in Carolina. His longest run was eight yards. Last year, Olson probably wouldn’t have been so patient.
Hopefully, the Bucs will figure out why they can’t run the ball.

He sucks too! Fire him along with Dom and Morris!

I don’t get why we activated Lumpkin over Blount and then didn’t even use him. 27 carries? Caddie won’t last till midseason if we keep this up.

I am at a loss as to why we can not run the ball. It needs to be figured out though because a running game will have to be present if we want to go more than 8-8 which I think is possible but only with a good running game to keep defenses honest. As far as whoever just blogged under the name of JimBuc….you have your opinion regardless of how unintelligent it makes you seem to the rest of the world.

Joe’s been telling people why since the end of last season but people don’t like to hear the truth.

There are two reasons we can’t run the ball. One, we have an average O-line. Nothing special at all there. Secondly, we run when the defense expects us to run. No imagination involved at all as to what we run and when. Change the pace of the game and throw a bit on first down and things could loosen up for some better running lanes.

@ jaytek
I’m not overly concerned about the run game yet. Watching the game today, Carolina committed 8 guys in the box or 7 guys with the safety coming downhill…and Freeman made them pay. Now that teams know we have weapons that can hurt them downfield we’ll see Caddy get more opportunities to break open games.

Can we get back to the subject of this post – the fact that Olson doesn’t give up on the run and have Josh Freeman throwing 40+ times a game like he did last year?
To Mr. Olson – hat’s off on your committment. That doesn’t mean I’m sold -yet. What happened to those screens and delayed draws? If you notice Caddy’s best runs were end around and off right tackle?
I also think it is time to rest Caddy somewhat – I’m NOT blaming Caddy but he’s just not hitting the holes with AUTHORITY and he comes down too easy. I’d really like to see Huggy and Blount get some shots.

Hey eric stole JimBuc’s e-mail and is now posting under Jim’s name 😉

@Mr. Lucky
I agree man, if Huggy is healthy next week for the Steelers, we need to give him some carries. Blount too.
Earnest Graham needs to get some carries as well. I realize he didn’t do well in week 1 vs Browns when he only got 10 yards off of 6 carries and fumbled near the goal line. But that’s only 1 game. Just 2 years ago, he was our starting HB and did a fantastic job for us. There’s still hope in him.

not a coach at all but I thought we were getting away from the zone blocking it seems like that is all we ran
September 20th, 2010 at 1:09 am
I wanna see Blount and Huggins get some touches. Maybe they can add a spark to our run game. Caddie is average and he won’t last till midseason if he keeps getting 25-30 carries a game.

If Cadi will kepp his head up, sooner or later he’ll break one for 6… as in next week against the Steeler defense.
