Game 9

Bucs (4-4) at Chiefs (7-0)

Kickoff: 8:15 p.m.

TV: BSPN (WFTS-TV Channel 28 locally) with Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Lisa Salters.

Streaming: BSPN+, NFL+. (Geographic restrictions apply; subscription may be required).

Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network WXTB-FM 97.9 in the Tampa-St. Petersburg region (Transmisiones de radio en español en WTMP-FM 96.1 y WMGG-AM 1470 en Tampa). Additional stations throughout Florida on the Buccaneers Radio Network can be found here. The game also will be broadcast on SiriusXM Channel 228 (Buccaneers Radio Network feed). The Westwood One national radio feed can be heard on SiriusXM NFL Radio with hollerin’ Kevin Harlan and Kurt Warner on Channel 88.

Weather: “Rain” is the word of the day in Kansas City. Joe is in barbeque town and it has rained this morning and thunderstorms are expected today with rain likely continuing tonight, per AccuWeather.com. Rain chances will drop to 49 percent in the second half. The temperature isn’t expected to be terrible for an early November game in the heart of the Midwest. They should hold in the mid-60s throughout the game with moderate winds.

Odds: Per BetMGM, as of 10 a.m., Bucs +9 (+350); over/under 45.5.

Referees: John Hussey and his gang will officiate tonight’s game. This crew is home cooking, both on the field and at the betting window. Since 2016 Hussey and his outfit have seen home teams go 90-41 in games they have worked. Last year Hussey and his posse, in the 17 games they worked, saw the home teams go 14-3, per Sharp Football Analysis.

Injuries: Bucs —  Out: LS Evan Deckers (hamstring), DT Greg Gaines (calf0, WR Mike Evans (hamstring). Questionable: RB Bucky Irving (toe), WR Jalen McMillan (hamstring), WR Sterling Shepard (hamstring), S Tykee Smith (concussion), S Antoine Winfield (foot).  Chiefs — Out: DE Mike Danna (pectoral), CB Nazeeh Johnson (concussion),  WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring), TE Jared Wiley (knee).

Outlook: All the world thinks the Bucs will lose tonight. Even Bucs fans think the Bucs will lose tonight. After all, the Bucs under both Todd Bowles and Baker Mayfield stink on Monday nights. And, well, the Chiefs are the Chiefs and Pat Mahomes is still Pat Mahomes, even though technically he’s having a “bad” year. Of course, a “bad” year to Mahomes is a good year for most quarterbacks. If Mahomes was truly having a bad year, the Chiefs wouldn’t be undefeated. But that’s just it: No one in their right minds think the Chiefs will run the table and it’s not like the Bucs haven’t played well in Arrowhead Stadium. Joe saw with his own eyes how America’s Quarterback punked the mighty Chiefs in Arrowhead on a chilly Sunday. A game that highlighted the play of the day from … Chris Conte! Even Gerald McCoy made two key plays late in the game. So it can be done. Tough task against this defense. The Bucs must play a full game like they did in the first quarter against the Crows. Joe isn’t betting cash that the Bucs will win. But they do have a puncher’s chance. To do so, they will pretty much have to play mistake-free football.

Fun facts: This is why Joe believes Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen is a head coach somewhere next year: Despite losing Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Bucs QB Baker Mayfield had a career-high 37 completions and threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns last week. … RB Rachaad White is looking for his fifth straight game with at least 65 scrimmage yards and his third straight game with a touchdown catch. … TE Cade Otton has had at least eight catches and 80 yards receiving his last two games. … ILB Lavonte David has at least six tackles in four of his five career games against the Chiefs. … ILB K.J. Britt is getting roasted in the passing game but is improving against the run. Britt had a career-high 10 tackles last week. He’s had at least six tackles in five of his last six games.  Chiefs QB Pat Mahomes is 2-0 with 711 passing yards (355.5 per game) with six touchdowns passes in two regular season games against the Bucs. … RB Kareem Hunt has at least 80 scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown inhis last two games against NFC foes. … TE Mr. Taylor Swift had 10 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown to lead the Chiefs last week. His touchdown was his 75th, fifth-most for tight ends in NFL history. … DT Chris Jones averages a sack a game in his past five Monday Night Football appearances. … LB Nick Bolton had nine tackles the last time the Chiefs played the Bucs.

  5. Mark Says:

Let’s hope the Bucs can exceed our low expectations. Over the years they have delivered a lot of dispiriting losses on national tv to their loyal fans…would be great if this was somehow different.

  6. MadMax Says:

We’re gonna win….trust me….as long as theres no ref interference from the football gods….they know they owe us

btw, wheres the Kupp trade Jason?

  7. MadMax Says:

Time is now….we can do it this year….we’re not drafting yet….give them a 2nd and be done.

  8. heyjude Says:

Yikes, so much going against us. The Bucs have a way of changing the narrative. You never know. Agree about Mahomes and having a bad year, but not really in the eyes of others. But there comes a time when a team is defeated and maybe it will be tonight.

  9. MadMax Says:

Baker and Coen need their men

  18. JimBobBuc Says:

I read an article a few weeks ago that the home field advantage is really caused by the referees. The NFL knows this and has been working to correct it. I guess they missed this crew. The telecast crew and network, and the refs, will be pulling for a Chiefs win.

  19. Oxycondomns Says:

mcmillan injured hamstring sounds like. this team needs to invest in a yoga instructor

  20. First Name Greatest Says:

Any boderline call will go to the Chiefs and their new golden goose

    Chiefs by 17

  21. Larrd Says:

The law of averages demands the Bucs win a Monday night game and the Chiefs’ lucky win streak ends.

    Chiefs 35-10.

  22. Jbeachbuc Says:

    Bucs get rolled.

  23. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I still have to decide if I’m watching it.

  24. Dave Pear Says:

The Glazer family has owned the team since 1995. They know what best in class defense looks like. They also know what worst in class defense looks like. They have endured years of mediocre offense but decent defense, and those teams could win. When LovieII has turned out defense arguably as bad or worse than the first Lovie’s defense, they have to be already impatient and preparing action.

    Tomorrow.

  25. Kidfloflo Says:

So joe no more weekly betting segment!?

  26. MadMax Says:

Baker gonna be slinging 90 mph fast balls at peoples throats (if you sa it, you know)

  27. Buchen61 Says:

The bucs to have any chance they will need to lean on their run game. They need to do this to keep their own defense off the field unfortunately KC knows this and will most likely game plan to neutralize our run game forceing the bucs and Baker to throw and unfortunately again we are missing to many peoces for that to be successful. Can the bucs win ? Sure… Will they… Not likely. Hoping we can at least make it a competitive game that enjoyable to watch

  28. Dave Pear Says:

The most likely outcome is another public humiliation for the once overrated defensive mastermind,, now disgraced, Lovie SmithII. If a miracle happens and the Bucs win, it would be a happy shock.

The worst thing is a close high scoring loss. People would say “we were competitive!” When really, no – no more ammunition to keep the failure on the payroll. Fire him tomorrow morning.

  29. Kenton Smith Says:

Oline and running backs key tonight. Coming out party for Sean Tucker. Defense holds Chiefs to 20. Break even or better in turnover battle. Tonight gives us a look at the second half of our season. Bucs 24 Chiefs 20.

  30. JBBUCS_06 Says:

No JMac#15 tonight. Who in the hell is playing WR? And we didn’t keep Culp active either.

  31. ghost Says:

  34. BillyBucco Says:

  35. Let ‘em bake Says:

  36. Pewter Power Says:
