Eyes On The Falcons

November 3rd, 2024

No, Joe still isn’t buying the over-the-top Falcons hype. They’re good at 5-3 but extremely vulnerable.

They’re also on local TV today at 1 p.m.

Atlanta will host the reeling Cowboys (3-4). Dallas has had trouble scoring, though they have a 3-1 road record. The Falcons are favored by 3 1/2.

Joe is most interested in watching how the Cowboys fare against the Falcons’ weak pass rush. The Bucs and their sad pass rush will take on Dallas in Week 16.

Joe maintains a solid dose of hope that the Bucs can win the NFC South, though much of that will evaporate if the Falcons win today. Atlanta’s next game is in New Orleans.

However, Atlanta then follows up with a rough stretch with consecutive games against the Broncos, Chargers and Vikings.

Proof is in the pudding. They still have more pudding to make so we will see. But they beat us, even if barely 1 and 1 pretty surely. So while I believe Tampa has a better team, the results don’t agree and that makes the national media (up to this point) right and me wrong. I am very surprised we didn’t beat the Falcons in both meetings or at least split the series. But we didn’t and that makes us the lesser team this season in the head to head compare-o.

  2. ModHairKen Says:

It’s because the Defense hasn’t been having Bunko nights.

  3. Cobraboy Says:

    “Extremely vulnerable.”

Except for the Bucs. The Falcons ripped them to shreds twice.

  4. adam from ny Says:

    ^^^^^^

    look at LVD…..freshly cut……so clean !

go cowboys…(most overrated team in football)

  5. Bucsfan Says:

Yeah Birds won one in OT and the other by 5 with a TD that was not. Yeah shredded.

  6. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

Falcons are overrated but 2-0 against us. Huge matchup issues and constant mistakes by the whole team allowed the falcons to win. Cowboys will win today.

  7. adam from ny Says:

take us out of the picture and the falcons are a .500 type team…

but they do have our number 🙁

  8. Bradenton Jerry Says:

I think one of the Bucs problems on defense is how it is designed.
When Bruce Arians came to town, the first thing he told his coaches
is don’t tell me what we can’t do, tell me what we can do.
He adjusted his offensive scheme accordingly.
The Bucs may have a wonderful defensive plan but
if you don’t have the players that can do it, the plan needs
    to be adjusted.

  9. Cobraboy Says:

Cowboys may be “reeling”, but so are the Bucs.

Falcons win & Bucs lose, and Tuesday morning, we start talking draft, draft position, and draft-eligible players.

  10. DoooshLaRue Says:

Rooting for Dallas is a freaking tall order.

  11. Mike Johnson Says:

Call’em Dixie chicks all you like. They own us this year. They walloped us twice. That fact cannot be changed.

  12. Stan says Says:

Our Definitely gave up over 500 yards this first game. I hate the Falcons with passion. The second game was better but both game defense gave up 30 or more. If you can’t hold a team under 30 points in this league as a defense you will be a 500 at the very best. That should let everyone know even Joe. Unfortunately yes the Falcons are better than the bucs. Score board is the only stat that matters. Let it go Joe. Good lord I HATEthe Falcons I hope they loose the rest of the games.

  13. Pewter Power Says:

Chiefs, SF then you can start watching falcons after those Bucs L’s. Atlanta’s only tough opponent the rest of the way of Vikings outside of that our schedules are basically same.

If Bucs lose the next two with playing the same teams as us no reason to think a bowles led team will catch Raheem. I’m a Bucs homer at heart but that’s no reason to be football stupid and todd Bowles is too mediocre to be taken serious

  14. Hodad Says:

We had our chance to win the division by beating Atlanta at least once. We lost to them twice, no over coming that. Hoping Atlanta keeps losing is no way to win a division. Two chances we whiffed twice, better luck next season.

  15. Dlavid Says:

We all do Joe ! Watching the game here in NC ! Go Cowgirls!

  16. HC Grover Says:

We are in trouble. If they win and wel lose BIG trouble.

  17. JimBobBuc Says:

One of the few times I’ll pull for the Cowboys.

  18. Dave Pear Says:

Any below average defensive coach can make Kirk’s Cousin look like Mike Glennon. What a disgrace to lose twice and give up like 2000 yards passing and 90 points.

    Lovie Smith II

  19. Tye Says:

Falcons still bested the Bucs not once but twice so it was no fluke….
Watching Dallas trot out on the field, yeah, NO, I cant root for them ever!

  20. orlbucfan Says:

So Atlanta wins the Division. So what? When Bucs won their last SB, Cheating Sean Payton’s Aints won the Division.

  21. Cobraboy Says:

I doubt the Wild Card teams will come from the NFC South.

Don’t win the division, won’t go to the playoffs.

Falcons kicking ‘Pokes butt. If Bucs lay an egg in KC, a physical feat they are more than capable of, it is over for 2024-25.

And we start talking draft position and potential players.

  22. Ol' Boy Says:

You know it Cobra. No way. Not happening. There are good teams up north this year unfortunately
Falcons just scored in the third. When Bucs and cowboys play, at least we know it’ll be close.. or should be

  23. Pewter Power Says:

The entire nfc north is better record wise bears 4-3. NFC west has three 4-4 teams so yea there’s no wildcard Bucs team with a defense like this.

The niners are on a bye with a whole week to plan their slaughter. We’d have to win out after the bye and hope for help once again thanks Bowles but at least you’re consistent at something even if it’s being mediocre

  24. Cobraboy Says:

I hope the draft is loaded with fast ILBs, edges, & DBs.

  25. Jason Says:

We need to draft all defense in this next draft. Every pick. Besides maybe a swing tackle.

  26. Cobraboy Says:

@PP: at this point I’d settle for a “mediocre” D. That’s several clicks up from this butter-soft debacle.

This team reminds me of the Air Coryell teams of the 70’s: fun, dynamic O, but a D that couldn’t slow anybody.

  27. Anon Says:

Welp, gotta win tomorrow. Can’t get 3 games behind ATL because then you’re hoping for an Eagles type collapse.

  28. rrsrqnc Says:

Cawboys offense is sad, they pretty much self-implode. What I do see, is a lot of mediocre and bad football teams, the Bucs give us a chance every weekend.

  29. Winny Testaverde Says:

    Tell me if you’ve heard/seen this before…

After a week of accolades, props and praise ( none more than from our very own Hairdresser Hot Rod Mulch )…Winny reverts to his mean/usual antics of disastrous play.

  30. Kenton Smith Says:

Can you imagine the Cowboys just signed Dak to another giant deal? Jerry Jones was asking a reporter a few weeks back “do you think I’m an idiot? Do you-do you think I’m an idiot? I know what I would have said if I was that reporter.

  31. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Article after article….Joe trashed Cousins…..and, he tore us a new a$$hole. More than an uphill climb to win division and it may take 11 wins to be a wildcard.

  32. Cobraboy Says:

@rrsrqnc: The Bucs are competitive with the bad and below-mediocre teams.

  33. Pewter Power Says:

    Cobraboy

Even if the defense was giving up a gang of yards but tightened up in the redzone or even better we had a third down defense this team would have a chance every week.

  34. Cobraboy Says:

@PP: If my mother had b@lls…

Unfortunately, this D does not know what “tighten up” means…
