Wide Receiver Cade Otton
October 29th, 2024Daily fantasy warriors like Joe know all about Bucs tight end Cade Otton. He’s become a nationally known dude in those circles for one simple reason.
Among NFL tight ends, Otton ranks seventh in receiving yards and third in total targets.
He’s turning heads at One Buc Palace, too. The absence of Chris Godwin and Mike Evans on Sunday confirmed to the Bucs that they have a more talented player than fans saw before Sunday.
“He was actually running wide receiver routes, not just inside tight end routes,” Bowles said of Otton’s big Sunday against Atlanta. “I mean, he was running whips and he was spinning back inside and they were hitting him. And he was catching and running with the football. Cade has so much to unlock that it’s exciting to see him every week even when Mike and Chris come back.”
“It’s exciting to see what he can do and the things he’s starting to do. It’s really exciting.”
Bowles’ glowing remarks came on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
The head coach added that Otton has become a stud blocker. Bowles called him tough and smart in the run game.
“He can position you. He can power you,” Bowles said. “He understands the game so well.”
Joe is impressed by Otton’s growth in the passing game, or maybe he’s just getting a chance to prove himself and is making the most of it.
Regardless, Otton has been a heck of a fourth-round draft pick for Tampa Bay.

So nice to see him shine.

CO88 sure did look good last Sunday! Perhaps the start of something great!

so he’s pretty good? Plus Evans and Godwin? WHy do we lose so many games then?

Bucsfansince84 if that is a real question then you clearly don’t know the first thing about football. We have the worst defense in the NFL that’s why. No problems with our offense

I like Otton, way more than the vast majority of people in the comments who were demanding the team cut him a few weeks ago, but calling him a WR is a huge stretch. He’s doing well as a pass catching TE, but doesn’t have the speed and quickness needed to line up at WR.
Speaking of which, when Godwin and Evans went down at the end of 2019, why didn’t the team move OJ to WR. I’ll never understand why they lined up complete trash at WR and just had OJ out in 2 TE sets (and no, at that time, OJ wasn’t washed up physically).

It’s Mayfield’s fault.

He’s played well the last 2 weeks

When’s radios defense going help one of the best offenses in the league

Bucs signed Troy HIll and released Kalen Deloach…. He’s a 10 year vet at CB so hopefully that fixes everything and covers up KJ Britt’s inability to cover the middle of the field.

Another excellent draft value pick by Jason.

Otton has been very good. Most teams use a tight end like the Bucs often use Godwin, so Otton can help a lot.
Rakim Jarrett had a few catches his first game back. I hope he can open up the outside/long game. I am disappointed Palmer and MacM haven’t stepped up this season. There is still time, I guess. This offense hums!

@bucsguy – Duh. That was my freaking point.

You can tell Cade and Baker know what each other are thinking and doing. The timing is almost perfect. Plus the slant pattern at the goal line is impossible to defend.
Hopefully McMillan, Palmer, and Griffin will be more in tune with Baker this week.
Go Bucs !!

What Bartow Buc said. This KC game is perfect for testing the young guys’ mettle.

I’ve bin saying this since he caught the game winning touchdown from TB12 his rookie season against the rams but most fans want to bash him. Never understood it. Some say he has terrible hands and look at all the drops. He can’t block. The blocking I get dude coming out of college against grown men. Took him a few seasons but now he’s added muscle has gotten better. Fans wants superstars straight outa college not everyone can be mike evans

He’s the most durable skill player on the team, period. If they can afford him after next season, the Bucs have a top 10 TE for the next 8-10 years. He’s not Gronk, but he might be as good as Jason Witten or George Kittle.

Doesn’t really make a difference when we can’t stop anybody from scoring. We have a 500 Coach

He is NOT Kittle lmao
Otton runs a 4.78
Kittle runs a 4.52
It’s the difference between watching Britt and watching David in his prime.
Cade can do a lot of things but he doesn’t compare to Kittle AT ALL.
