Bill Belichick Also Thinks Lack Of Cameras Is Irresponsible
October 28th, 2024Joe’s been over this a couple of times since yesterday. It is unfathomable that TV network rightsholders/the NFL or its teams — whichever has the responsibility — aren’t required to install pylon cameras to help decide close calls on the goal lines, end lines or sidelines.
Yesterday, it appears Antoine Winfield may have saved a touchdown (again!) by forcing a Dixie Chicks player (again!) to fumble at the goal line.
Kyle Pitts was on his way to scoring a touchdown when he began styling too soon. As he is wont to do, Winfield raced in and appeared to knock the ball out of Pitts’ mitts.
The problem is, it was too close to call. And there were no working cameras on the goal line to help the refs with the challenge.
The zebras told Bucs coach Todd Bowles they couldn’t get a decent angle on the play and since the bad angle was inconclusive, the play stood.
Touchdown Dixie Chicks.
The Bucs lost by five.
In his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” today, seen on BSPN, Mr. Six Rings, Bill Belichick, ripped the NFL/networks for not having cameras on the pylons.
“I don’t understand why this is such a problem,” Belichick said. “A camera could easily be mounted on the sideline just like they have in tennis — on the end lines and the sidelines. Or just build a stand and put it on there.
“I can’t imagine money is a problem. The NFL has plenty of money. They can have a car wash and raise money if money is a problem.”
Belichick went to explain how there are cameras everywhere in the stadium but the pylons.
“There are cameras that cover the entire stadium — security cameras,” Belichick said. “If you dumped a beer on somebody in row-whatever, there would be a camera that would see that. They’d eject the fan out of the stadium for their behavior.”
As for not having cameras on the pylons, Belichick added, “It’s really frustrating as a coach.”
Joe checked Amazon last night. You can buy a half-dollar-sized camera for $30. Joe would be happy to donate one to the Bucs if money is tight. And Joe is confident fans could cobble together loose nickels to raise the additional $90 needed to purchase three more cameras needed to equip each pylon.
This is not just insane, but irresponsible. It may have cost the Bucs a win — or worse, a playoff berth.
You think Team Glazer/Roger Goodell could clear the cost of pylon cams with the revenue from a home playoff game?
As Joe stated yesterday, if the NFL was told one less potential concussion could be avoided with pylon cams, they’d buy the friggin’ Hubble Telescope and install it on the goal lines.
Safety first! Meanwhile, who’s playing Thursday night?
"I don't understand why this is such a problem & the camera could be clearly mounted on the goal line..
NFL has plenty of money but maybe we gotta have a car wash & raise some money 😂😂
There's cameras that cover the ENTIRE stadium & I don't know why we can't get a camera on… pic.twitter.com/zvxNGmaRoK

D-Rok says,
I laud your enthusiasm, but do save your money for production expenses, Joe, and paying your legendary photographer. Glazers, NFL, TV – they all got plenty of extra coin laying around to have a standard of video evidence in which to properly adjudicate each play and angle – especially when it’s an important play.

NFL Brass hates the Bucs=JOKE!!!!!
October 28th, 2024 at 2:23 pm
Two plays defined the game. That goal line play and the play where Baker and a WIDE open Jalen missed on that 3-7. Both those plays told me the bucs would lose
October 28th, 2024 at 2:27 pm
In my opinion, as expressed in an earlier comment section, it was not a coincidence that no cameras were on the goal line for the Atlanta/Tampa game. Not having those cameras available would leave open the opportunity for a “judgement call” should the situation present itself. My previous comments explain why I believe that call did not fall in favor of the Tampa team.

Bill used to be a man of a few words and he has really come into his own. He is 100% correct.
Joe and we fans shouldn’t be putting money into the pot for cameras or having a car wash, the NFL should have already thought about it and did it. Bill was talking about a similar game they had years ago. This is outrageous and again another Bucs game that everyone is talking about in sports media. We lost a TD and momentum. We almost won and should have. And as usual, the refs didn’t do us any favors. Always the other team.
October 28th, 2024 at 2:31 pm
How many replays have all of us watched where the goal line camera shows the football breaking the goal line plane ? Nothing to see here folks. It was just an oversight that no cameras were available.
October 28th, 2024 at 2:34 pm
Funny how Chiefs making moves for a pass rusher but we doing nothing probably because players are not the problem it coaching.
October 28th, 2024 at 2:36 pm
Wake up fans ! You are being scammed !
October 28th, 2024 at 2:38 pm
I don’t blame em falcons were moving up and down the field hard for the cameras to keep up when this swiss cheese defense is on the field.
October 28th, 2024 at 2:39 pm
I am sorry , but the max age for a ref should be 50, after that there is too much loss of movement and eyesight to be at optimal effectiveness.
October 28th, 2024 at 2:45 pm
Refs should be fined
October 28th, 2024 at 2:52 pm
Agree with Bucsfan and BuckyBuc. Set a max age and fine them. Something needs to change. One of the other posts on here talked about the NFL “likely” to discuss face mask replays in the off-season. Now we have the whole camera thing happening. The one ref was running pretty close, and there you go. Sometimes I wonder if the refs have a bet going on. Just saying.
October 28th, 2024 at 2:55 pm
Refs also missed another face mask penalty on Baker. Make everything reviewable. Coaches have 3 challenge let them use them
October 28th, 2024 at 2:57 pm
We have a safety that has caused 3 fumbles at the goal line. Cameras should be mandated just on that fact alone.
October 28th, 2024 at 3:19 pm
I agree with Jude and others. The NFL obviously needs money (ha) so now they should fine the refs for every blatant call they miss. It doesn’t have to be much..$100-$200 should do it. But the responsible zebras should bear some sort of justice for the sake of the fans and the bettors.
October 28th, 2024 at 3:20 pm
Cmon bro 🙄
It was a messed up situation but it’s not some grand conspiracy for gawds sake.
October 28th, 2024 at 3:32 pm
So long as the fans think the eyesight, age, or incompetence of the zebras is the fault of it all, the NFL has them right where they want them.
October 28th, 2024 at 3:56 pm
If Bowles is gone at the end of the year it is worth it.
October 28th, 2024 at 4:15 pm
There have been books written about how NFL games are fixed and a lot of times it is thru the officiating. I am one to think it is not out of the realm, something illegal can be called on almost every play but then there are obvious ones like if a player and ball crossed the goal line that makes it inexcusable to try to explain it away.
October 28th, 2024 at 4:17 pm
Well first of all there are cameras on the goal line for some games I’ve seen that angle a hundred times. Wouldn’t you want to confirm every running play and QB sneak that is questionable? There is even end line cameras that show if a WR is in bounds or not. Normally there is about 4 different views for replay with in 5 yards.
October 28th, 2024 at 4:23 pm
Just confirmed camera man 5 busy checking out hot women in Raymond James Stadium instead of the game. Let one get away but got some good footage. Turns out he had the Falcons in a seven team parlay so you be the judge. Just kidding but it really sounds about right.

Mr. T had a very relevant saying with Biblical origins.
October 28th, 2024 at 4:45 pm
Either way, if it pleases Him, I am praying God shows favor to our Bucs the rest of the year. Why do I pray this? Not for some silly football team to win a game or two, but for this team to elevate an entire region of fans, to give them hope.
And that’s the ONLY reason I “pray” about a football outcome.
October 28th, 2024 at 4:54 pm
If they weren’t invested in making sure the BUCS lost they would have been released right then and there.

Bill Belichick, next head coach of the Bucs. I’m not advocating this, but I think it’s who the Glazers would go after if they fire Bowles. Licht cut his teeth with the Pats, he’d stay the wink, wink, G.M.. Glazers aren’t going to look for the next up, and coming H.C.. The Glazers are going to go experience, and big name. Not saying I want this to happen, but I think it’s what the Glazers will do.
October 28th, 2024 at 5:38 pm
@ Hodad, I’m starting to think you might be right with Belichick. Plus, the Bucs could be on BB’s radar due to Brady coming here and winning a SB.
Who knows? Nobody knows how BB will be as a coach sans Brady. Maybe he really is a good coach who needs a new situation? Similar to many players who switch teams and excel.
I think defensively, BB would be at least what we have in Bowles, minus the obvious retarded game plans.
Give him a shot – who knows?
October 28th, 2024 at 9:04 pm
Pay Bill whatever he wants to come oversee the Bucs defense. Do it now Jason.
October 28th, 2024 at 10:00 pm
Hodad:
Don’t think you are crazy either.
Of the potential teams that could be looking for a new coach, which has a better roster? Which one has a quarterback? Which one has the better offensive line? Which has an easy path to quick division wins?
It isn’t Las Vegas.
It isn’t Dallas (though Dallas has a QB).
It isn’t Chicago (though Chicago has a QB).
It isn’t Cleveland or Cincinnati (though Cincinnati has a QB).
It isn’s Arizona (does Arizona have a franchise QB?).
It isn’t the Jets.
It isn’t Jacksonville (though Jacksonville may have a QB).
October 29th, 2024 at 3:56 am
Agreed
Bill would not stand more than 1 game of watching a retarded ILB play football.
Have you ever seen a LB stop a yard short like he is playing basketball while B Robinson is off balance and then let him run right around him? This happens every game with Britt.
Bill’s defense would be WAY better than Bowles.
October 29th, 2024 at 4:48 pm
Joe, everyone’s rightfully commenting on the lack of goal-line cameras at the game that could have been used to correct the call, but…
How about the referee literally standing AT THE GOAL LINE to the left of the play, looking right at the play with no obstructions or other players blocking his view?!? He pauses for a split-second, looks at his fellow referee at the other end of the end zone, and then signals the play a touchdown!
HE HAD A PERFECT, UNOBSTRUCTED GOAL-LINE VIEW OF THE PLAY, THERE WAS NO CAMERA NEEDED REF, YOU BLEW THE CALL!
October 29th, 2024 at 4:51 pm
…checkout the video while Belicheat is talking, you can see the ref 4x from different angles of the play! Was he the same ref who missed the face-mask call in Atlanta a few weeks ago?!?
