49ers Game Looks Tougher Now

October 25th, 2024

(More) bad news for Bucs.

Joe believed, after watching the Chiefs-49ers game last week, that the once mighty 49ers, who the Bucs play in two weeks, were vulnerable.

San Francisco has been riddled with injuries, and not just to their receivers. So Joe was starting to like the Bucs’ chances of pulling a win. That is, until Mike Evans and Chris Godwin went down on Monday night.

Still, Joe had hope. The 49ers would have to play a morning game against the Bucs. West Coast teams generally don’t play all that sharp on the East Coast.

Body clocks. A 1 p.m. kickoff on the East Coast is 10 a.m. their time.

But the 49ers will be coming off a bye when they face the Bucs. Fresh. Rested. And apparently healthier.

Christian McCaffrey, the star running back for San Francisco, hasn’t played yet this season because of an Achilles issues, has been targeted by the team to return in Week 10, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Yup, against the Bucs.

And the way the linebacker play has been for the Bucs lately. Geez, what a matchup.

Sorry, until Joe sees marked linebacker improvement quickly, Joe is nowhere near as confident as Kacy Rodgers.

Folks, this was ALWAYS a loss. Clueless Todd won’t be able to stop Purdy. Baker’s play will be poor without Evans and Godwin. 7-10. Atl 40 Yucs 10

  2. Stillabucsfan Says:

Need to be 5-5 at the bye and not 4-6. At this point in time I’m just hoping that cmc is rusty when he returns against us.

  3. Tye Says:

If Bowels screws this game up and causes the Bucs to lose to the Falcons, they will be looking at letting the NFC South slip away from them….
Chiefs and then 49ers are will put them on a 4 game losing streak…
The only good that could come out of that is to get rid of this sorry HC/DC and get someone competent to fill the position!

  4. PSL Bob Says:

No doubt! The Falcons game is a must win. We’re playing at home against a team we should have beat the first time. I’m confident Coen will game plan a winning strategy in the absence of Evans and Godwin. The question will be can Bowles turn this defense around. If Cousins is as efficient as he was in our last matchup, we’re doomed. And so is our shot at the playoffs.

  5. Gofortheface30 Says:

49ers were vulnerable LAST yr, and their alleged great defense got torn a new one in both the divisional and the NFC championship. They should have lost both of those games. Idc if CMC is back, they do not have deebo and they do not have aiyuk and Trent Williams is not playing well. Not to mention a middle of the pack defense. They are not real players in the NFC this yr

  6. BUCS4EVER Says:

Just another losing seasons for Jason Licht and Todd Bowels

    What’s Jason’s record without Brady?

I’ll tell you…it’s one of the worst.

When do we start blaming Licht?

  7. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Britt is slow, that can’t be fixed. We have to draft a real MLB high next year.

  8. Buc2Blame Says:

Why is anyone still caring about this team the season is over no matter what no need for anything buc related the HC or GM won’t do anything to make the team better. If you ask me Jason has thrown in the white flag on the season. And Todd shall be fired at seasons end

  9. pewter941 Says:

    Ayouk is on IR

  10. Beeej Says:

We were never going to beat the niners. Over the next three games before the buy. Our only chance of a win is Atlanta. We get Evans back after the bye things will look a little better.

We can’t build a super bowl roster with so much deferred cap money, it ain’t going to be this year, probably not next year either

  11. BallHawk75 Says:

Bet the house on KC and the 49ers beating us soundly.

Won’t even be a game in either.

    Bowles will be completely outmatched.

Rarely does he beat any team that isn’t floundering at the moment.

That’s what some people call a born loser.

  12. Pewter Power Says:

Good coaching means teams that start off slow get stronger as the season goes. Todd Bowles teams start off hot then tank

  13. C-spann Says:

Hell, all games look rough with this current defense, LOL!

  14. Dave Pear Says:

4-13 is a distinct possibility. Todd has had and still has chances to rectify the situation.

    But he won’t.

I wonder who Liam would hire to be his defensive coordinator, and offensive coordinator? Jason should not allow the next head coach to be so arrogant as to think they can do two jobs better than someone else can do one.

  15. Pewter Power Says:

Todd Bowles defense is perfect for a cmc return. He’ll be the talk of the nfl that week

  16. Ol' Boy Says:

I always get a chuckle reading about cmc coming to town. Not because he’s going to abuse the defense but I remember a comment here last year on the topic of CMC and the poster (who’s name I forgot) said something like, “I’ve been following cmc since he came to the NFL and he’s looking long in the toof.” And of course he then goes on to win OPY. I guess some toof’s are just longer than others ..

  17. PassingThru Says:

SF is very banged up too. Aiyuk, like Godwin is gone for the season, Deebo is banged up, McCaffrey is out until who knows, and their rookie WR is recovering from a bullet hole.

SF will still be favored, but it would be a helluva great game if both teams were healthy.

  18. unbelievable Says:

Definitely seemed like a winnable game a week ago, even if they had CMAC.

But now? I think we’ll be lucky to get to 5-5 when he hit the bye week.

  19. adam from ny Says:

the trick to defending CMC is when he goes down you bite his ankles…

do as a frenchie would do

  20. IrishTony Says:

2-1. I knew the Ravens would win but we haven’t lost to Frisco at home in years.

  21. IrishTony Says:

I stand corrected it was 2019 but I just remember the ass kickings in 97 and 03.

  22. View from 132 Says:

Entirely possible the Bucs are 4-6 at the bye, but the schedule than gets much easier. Carolina twice, the Saints will be out of the race in Week 17, Giants and Chargers are mediocre, Dallas is underachieving, Raiders aren’t good. No reason you can’t add 5 or 6 wins to that 4-6 and pull off another playoff berth.

  23. HC Grover Says:

Bucs have to hope Atlanta self destructs to back in to the playoffs again. Same as always with Bowles.

  24. Dave Pear Says:

At least Todd is a defense genius. Having the worst pass defense for two years running is a telltale sign of prowess. Oh , 4th worst? Sorry. I stand corrected.

But at least that run defense is stout as ever.

    Oh, wait.

  25. Mayhem41 Says:

Why on God’s green earth are you worrying about a player that “may” return against us in 3 weeks? Lame.
