Mike Evans Injury Update

MRI scheduled.
Perhaps by tonight the Bucs will know more about what’s going on with Mike Evans.
The future Hall of Fame receiver injured his hamstring Monday night in the carnage of the loss to the Crows. Todd Bowles said the injury was the same hamstring that has been sore this season, just that the injury happened to a different area of the hamstring.
This morning, NFL uber insider Adam Schefter reported Evans will undergo MRI tests today to determine the severity of the injury. Once results are known, then the Bucs will have a better timeline on Evans’ possible return.
The Bucs don’t expect Evans back until after the bye. The first game after the bye is just four days before Thanksgiving, Nov. 24 in New Jersey against the woeful Giants.

Really hope he doesn’t play if he’s not at 100% like he did Monday. I understand he’s gonna want to play if the doctor says he can but he’s way too important a piece to the team. He wasn’t 100% against the Saints either, this was bound to happen, can’t let it happen again.

Let’s see how the young WRs play. If they are playing well, then maybe we won’t need Mike back against the woeful Giants. Hopefully the offense keeps humming and we don’t need Mike until the playoffs. #WishfulThinking

The MRI will certainly tell us more. Hoping for Mike’s sake that it’s nothing major. His health is what is important.
Thinking like JimBobBuc that possibly our newbies will be playing really well and Mike can rest up instead of coming in for the Giants. Ya, we know Mike though. If he can play, he will do it. He is always thinking about the team and fans.

I really hate to see this with Evans. but it is also a good time for others to step up and show why they are a BUC, and in the NFL.

Mike Evans seriously needs to cutout the occasional huge drops.
They are always so deflating to the team and the fanbase.

I agree with Tampabaybucfan. I think our offense is well coached enough to be able to find its way. But our defensive minded, defensive specialist, exotic blitz package head coach can’t seem to stop anything right now. Fix your defense Coach Bowles. Over 500 total yards surrendered in 2 of the last 3 games? I think the league has figured your great defense out, what are you going to do about it before the season washes away????

With this defense, we have to score every possession.
The defense won’t be fixed getting one or two players.
If there’s an option to add a weapon at receiver, I would go for it.
Giving up 500 yards in 2 out of the last three games is ominous.
If the Saints weren’t so terrible it might have been the last 3 games.

Palmer and McMillian are very inconsistent. Not players that you can count on. Hope Jason is looking for a veteran especially if ME13 is going to be out for a long time.

Raheem will stack the box and see what the Bucs can do without a wr1 or wr1a. While Todd’s defense will give up another 30+ points and 400+ yards.

Rest assured, no moves will be made before the deadline. The Chiefs needed a receiver, they go get DHop, we need help in different areas and we’re like “we’re good “. That’s why Chiefs are back to back champions with a 3 peat on the way.

as much as I bash ME, he is a soldier and always takes the field. That said, he looked to be in serious pain and not his normal tweaked a hammy thing.
Hope it’s not bad and he heals up quick….but I am not optimistic.

Palmer and McMillian are young players who have the potential to excel; they just haven’t had the opportunity yet, similar to Grier Jr. We won’t know how well they can perform until we see them in action. Funderburk was as effective as Dean; that’s not saying much, but if you told me Dean didn’t play, I wouldn’t have noticed a difference.
Most teams don’t have a player like Mike Evans or Chris Godwin, so we will see how effective Coen is as an offensive coordinator. Currently, there are no big names on this offense; Baker is the most well-known player, aside from maybe Wirfs. I trust Coen as an offensive innovator; he clearly understands his personnel and the scheme he employs.
I expect to see a lot of Rashad White and Bucky on the field together, along with Tucker. Expect to see a lot of two-back sets in the next few weeks, with Palmer stretching the defense and keeping them honest. McMillian I would expect to fill the role of Godwin, and hopefully, he can develop reliable hands. The offense has been focused on speed, space, and exploiting what the defense offers, resulting in a smart and innovative strategy that scores a decent amount of points per game.
However, the defense has a glaring issue with Britt in the middle. It would be wise to consider other options; at this point, Grier Jr. should be cut if he can’t outperform Britt, as Britt doesn’t belong in the NFL with his lack of speed and coverage ability. The weakness on defense is the pass rush; being able to pressure the quarterback with four players would be amazing. Another cornerback would also be welcome. A stud middle linebacker to shore up the middle of the field, which is always wide open, is a necessity.
This team doesn’t need more offensive talent, especially with Evans coming back this year. It needs a pass rush and a linebacker who can cover, but a pass rusher who can consistently beat one man would make a difference. Two double teams mean you have to keep six men blocking the quarterback; that’s seven players, leaving only four to run routes, and you have seven to cover four. McCollum can cover there #2 receiver alone; you can double every other guy with underneath and over-the-top man coverage.
Long story short, if you’re going to make a trade, get a pass rusher, not a wide receiver.

If Bowles’ defense keeps giving up 41 points, it probably doesn’t matter who the WRs are.

Good to know we can expect ME 13 back in a few weeks. In the meantime Kupp would be an excellent choice to fill the void left by Godwin. He plays with as much heart as Evans and Godwin.
Since Kupp and Coen were connected in LA. This seems to be a perfect fit. I have total confidence in the Bucs staff will make the right decision.
Whether we bring in Kupp or another receiver, its very likely that we play with who we have against Atlanta. If so who’s going to step up and start becoming the next Mike Evans or Chris Godwin. This Sunday at 1:00 it’s time to shine !!

Not banking on much from ME the rest of the year. I just don’t see how he could return to form this season after reinjuring an already tender hammy with father time breathing down his neck. And running the ball now becomes exponentially more difficult without ME & CG prowling the field. Bottom line, we will only be as good as our backup WRs, and the continued creativity of Liam’s scheme. That’s a lot of pressure on a bunch of unproven players, but it’s our only hope. Next man up, lfg!

We don’t need a Renfrow. We have guys on the team that can produce more than him. We need an X, a guy going down the sidelines that can go up and get it. D-Hop for a conditional 5th would have been perfect.
Shepard can do what Renfrow off his couch can do. I am less worried about the offense. Coen is just gonna have to keep dipping in his bag of tricks. Perfect time to see what the young guys can do. Palmer has to stretch the field and be a deep ball threat, McMillan and Shepard need to work the short intermediate areas of the field, we need 2 backs out there a lot and one of them to be sent on wheel routes.
Our OL is solid, the offense can continue to get us 20-24 points, I have no doubt. Can the D do something? Can the D limit the Falcons or Chiefs or 49ers to less than 20 points like they did the Lions? That is what we need.

Evans not securing that score when he got injured can be deflating sure, but him going out with injury should not have been an excuse. Those guys should have been prepping all week as though they wouldn’t have Mike at all. He was an extra, a red zone, few package extra to keep the D honest.

Saskbucs – So true. “What if” preparations for injuries. I think it was Bill Belichick or possibly another coach years ago that the players said that the coach always had “What if” scenarios in their practices. It is probably a lot more work, and the Bucs may already be doing that. Sometimes the turn of events happen so fast and the other team is catching breaks, it’s hard to carry through.

Stop calling anyone the Bucs play woeful. The charade masquerading as the defensive masturmind’s on the field product is capable of losing to Holy Cross.
If Todd isn’t forced to change things, the Bucs might not win another game and Todd will be analyzing real estate portfolios for his next line of work in January.

Big loss with Chris, he deserved some good luck for a change.
Thing is though, the way Canales mismanaged players last year, it was like he (Chris) was “out,” as everyone probably remembers.
With Mike coming back, hopefully, up until the bye week the receiving-talent of Rachaad and Bucky can go a long way; and Otton, (who hasn’t really been used all that much this year, but probably wil be now) on 3rd down plays.
It’s doubtful there are many teams who have the receiving capability that can be drawn from the running backs like the Buccaneers; it might be okay with the addition of the run-game improvement
