Report: Mike Evans Likely Out Through Bye Week
October 22nd, 2024If Mike Evans makes it back right after the bye, then four days later Bucs fans will have a reason to celebrate Thanksgiving.
J.C. Allen of SI.com has word of a timetable for the future Hall of Fame receiver to possibly suit up again.
Per Allen, Evans is out until at least the first game after the bye — Nov. 24 when the Bucs travel to New Jersey to play the Giants.
Allen added, per his sources, it is “unlikely” Evans plays before the bye week. Allen offered no specifics on Evans’ hamstring issue.

A more realistic goal would be before the playoffs if we can somehow win the division. This is a lingering type of injury with no easy road to recovery. Already made it worse once if you try to rush it again forget it.
October 22nd, 2024 at 3:51 pm
He should have never been in the game.
This is a disaster.
Will never forgive Toad Bowels for ruining the end of an era with Mike & Chris in one game.
October 22nd, 2024 at 3:52 pm
Who do you guys think will be our main WR now? Who should i pick in my fantasy team?
October 22nd, 2024 at 3:53 pm
First game back temps could be in the 30’s. Not good for a hammy.
October 22nd, 2024 at 3:55 pm
Cooper kupp
October 22nd, 2024 at 3:56 pm
Mcmillian will be better long term. Think he will try to play Godwins role. Sheppard is the better pick up the next few weeks as him and Baker have a repoire already.
This is just my opinion as I’m just a dumb guy from Colorado…
October 22nd, 2024 at 3:56 pm
Yep. He tore it. No doubt about it. Terrible management. That’s on Todd Bowles. You sit your star who is hurt no matter how bad they want to play. You gotta protect them from themselves sometimes and this was an all around failure.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:00 pm
And now the Bucs have waived Jake Camarda. Man I thought he’d be good for the next 15 years.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:00 pm
Yeah we can debate Godwin being in there late, but Evans shouldn’t have been playing or at least should have been only used inside the 10 yard line for jump balls. Guy never should have been running Go routes out there.
Evans healthy and Godwin out still opens up a lot of space for our other WRs. No Evans now… yikes. Baker and Palmer better be getting in sync with the deep ball cause we are gonna need that to be a threat.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:07 pm
Think the bucs are going to have to be run centric now what a wild season this has turned out to be.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:09 pm
Our leading WR could very easily be a TE Otten or a RB White. Then McMillen, Shepard and Palmer in that order. Better fire up the running backs for extended use.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:11 pm
Does it really matter guys our secondary has issues no mater if ME or CG was playing. Something isn’t right with this coaching staff players look lost on the field. You cant win playoff games like that.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:16 pm
so many what ifs like the atlanta game. the butterfly effect of everything that happened in this game. what deal with the devil did this team make. forgetting aside the poor defensive effort, i cant get over all of this.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:17 pm
Mike Evans caught his 100 touchdown last night
He would easily have 125 if he didn’t have the dropsies
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:28 pm
Evans has a history of many crucial drops, including last night. Godwin was always more clutch. Neither one of them at top physical strength would be able to overcome Bowles horrific defense.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:33 pm
Here’s what we have. Put White in the slot, Irving and Tucker at RB, Shepard and McMillan as wideouts. That’s what we have right now. Otton showed up big last night, so I’m sure Coen will scheme more plays for him. McMillan and Shepard have both shown flashes. They just need to step it up.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:34 pm
Should have rested him. If Mike doesn’t get his 1k, Bowles should be fired.
October 22nd, 2024 at 4:34 pm
I never really believed in Bowles and it sucks because the players seem to love him but he’s just not a good head coach. Defensive coordinator yes but head coach he’s just not good
October 22nd, 2024 at 5:05 pm
That is positive news about Mike. It could have been the entire season. He needs to take care of himself first.
Yes, many of us felt he shouldn’t be playing last night. But we all know Mike. He is the guy that doesn’t quit. He has been there for QBs and teams since before high school, since JM at A&M, and the Bucs. We are so lucky to have him and I can’t wait to see him getting in the red zone when he returns.
October 22nd, 2024 at 5:24 pm
Mike’s streak ends, and the defense implodes. Chris goes on IR, and the offense has to evolve. We could easily be 4 and 6 by Thanksgiving. Mayfield throws into traffic way too often, but we still have a very promising group of running backs. I just don’t have a lot of faith in our DC/HC right now.
October 22nd, 2024 at 5:37 pm
Gus Swayze is going to transform our youth into Evans and Godwin!
October 22nd, 2024 at 5:38 pm
This injury to ME is indicative of why Tod B is a subpar NFL coach. From the start Mike E was not right as even the Monday Night crew commented upon. Mike had no business endangering his hamstring by playing prematurely. Instead, the offense devoted time in scheming ME into the game as opposed to focusing on an alternative game plan. When ME was injured the Bucs seem to lose steam for at least 2 quarters. No top level NFL HC would fail to consider the massive downside and negative impact on the team this injury would cause. This is just another example how Tod B shows he’s not in the A class of NFL head coaches.
October 22nd, 2024 at 5:43 pm
Why is this on Bowels? I get that he’s the HC but every loss like every win is a team win or loss. Call me optimistic but Baker is going to find a way to transform our younger receivers into Godwin/Evans like players.Have some faith Tampa Bay!
October 22nd, 2024 at 5:52 pm
After his TD catch coming up gimpy he should have been done, or maybe just red zone 10 yd rts…The box will be stuffed with 9 man fronts from now on, so everyone’s idea of just becoming a running team will not work!! Someone needs to take advantage of the loose backfield coverage until Evans comes back
October 22nd, 2024 at 6:00 pm
Bucs are going to probably line up in 2 RB formations now like the old WD40 days.
October 22nd, 2024 at 6:36 pm
I’m seeing a side of many JBFers that’s quite pathetic. This is professional football people; players are getting paid mega-bucks to play, willingly. Injuries happen. It sucks, but it’s a violent sport.
Mike Evans & Chris Godwin were out there voluntarily. They’ve seen teammates get hurt before (and been hurt themselves before). They accepted the risk, for whatever reason. Blaming this on the head coach is nothing more than scapegoating, and it’s pathetic. Same thing with players making bad plays out on the field. It sucks, but only 1 team emerges victorious. That’s usually the better team, and that’s normally the team that makes the least mistakes. That proved true last night.
Baltimore’s offense is the #1 offense in the NFL today. Tampa’s defense is the #28 defense in the NFL today. Which one would you bet on coming out on top in a head-to-head battle?
October 22nd, 2024 at 6:59 pm
I told ya’ll in the game thread it was torn.
It was obvious. You don’t writhe in pain on the ground like that from a strain.
October 22nd, 2024 at 7:00 pm
@DR – 100%
It sucks, but it is what it is.
October 22nd, 2024 at 8:07 pm
He is going to try and come back and when he does I guarantee they will try to force feed him the ball to hit 1000yds. Season won’t be about winning but trying to get Mike streak/record living.
October 22nd, 2024 at 8:10 pm
“I told ya’ll in the game thread it was torn.

To be fair strain is a form of a tear, he upped the grade of it though. I don’t think it was a full tear that likely would have required a cart.
October 22nd, 2024 at 10:24 pm
Dr right on point. I’m excited to see how Coen schemes this young group. He knows they’re not Mike and Chris ( like Bowles stated today) scheme to the strengths … I’m predicting a solid win Sunday.
October 22nd, 2024 at 11:00 pm
I said in a post here last week that they should rest him until after the Bye-Week. There was NO WAY possible, that hamstring was getting ANY better, any other way!!!!
October 22nd, 2024 at 11:02 pm
LakelandBuc and Pelsbuc61
Sorry excuse of so called fans how about yall go route for a different team since yall don’t wanna wish him a speedy recovery instead bash him for drops. Eat a fat cock
October 23rd, 2024 at 4:24 am
DR – Agreed. They wanted to play. Yes, Todd could have made an executive decision and not allowed Mike to play, and maybe there were conversations that we don’t know about. Same with Chris and others still on the field. Their choice. Baltimore has a strong team and we aren’t the first game that the home team has lost in 2024. Ravens won at Dallas, Commanders, and Bengals too.
Best wishes to Chris, Mike, and Tykee.
