Wasn’t there a game where a team scored 10 points in 26 seconds then win in overtime?
Also, I got clarification on the onside kick rule. A team can continue to onside kick as long as they are trailing in the 4th quarter so they could have scored and attempted a 3rd onside kick.
They played to win the battle and not the war with both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and it most likely cost them their season. One of your least important games since its an AFC opponent and now they will be out manned in the most important division game of the season next week. Completely negligent decisions by the coaching staff
This was a non conference game. A loss was not part of any tie breaker. It is a long season with conference games coming up. We aren’t stacked with talent. You always have a chance in any game, albeit sometimes very, very little. We should have played with a longer term goal in mind. Especially with Evans already out.
Interesting that some are giving Bowles a pass for leaving everyone in last night yet he is the same guy who refuse to call a timeout in the Detroit playoff game which was a one score game, not a 2 score deficit like last night. This game was out of reach, give your second and third string some reps. This was an avoidable injury and I hope Godwin can recover from it. BTW: You know, Winfield was hurt very late in the Washington game when the backups should have been in, this is not coincidence but a pattern. I look forward to the spin Bowles spews out at his presser today.
Rare is the post from me in support of Bowles, but his stock went up slightly last night because he didn’t quit on the game as he has in past games.
Still plenty to complain about such as poor game planning and seemingly NO in game or half time adjustment.
Our current situation is a direct result of being out coached on a massive scale
If you vote yes I don’t want to hear any more about giving up the Detroit game.
There are plenty of reasons why we should upgrade from Bowles, but this ain’t it. It sucks, but it’s football. Wasn’t it Roquan Smith that hit him? Why was he in the game, he’s important to their team
No. Todd Bowles stays as coach. He is a winning coach and has the respect of the team. Just guessing that Mike wanted to play even though he was injured and that Chris asked to remain in the game. Yes, the coach could have made a different decision, but he may have went with theirs instead. We don’t know for sure.
Bowles surrenders during the Detroit playoff game, a game far more important than last nights game. So, did he change strategy because he learned from the Detroit game or is he just erratic and stupid? I can’t answer that.
Bucs should have treaded this game as a strategic loss. If they rested Evans, Godwin and Baker they still lose but the season is saved. Now, the Yucs are officially done. Nice job, Todd! Clueless Todd strikes again!
Where was this in Detroit last year? This was a non conference game! We have the birds next week that officially is a must win. Mike shouldn’t have played either. Gotten ready for Atlanta.
Thats not the right question! They said the same thing on GMFB. The ONLY reason we were within 10 points is because the Ravens took their foot off the gas and benched some of their starters. Game was not as close as final score indicated. Not only should starters have been pulled but Evans should have never played. Seasons over!
Only had 5 WRs up, right? So we lose Mike, only 4 WRs left. If we threw in the towel people would claim Bowles gave up. But we don’t take into consideration the players and their passion / competitive nature. Mike prob should have sat, but who’s going to make him?
Now time for youth on team to step up. Plenty of other teams dealing w/ injuries. Happens, part of football. NEXT MAN UP!
Here’s the “Easy Answer” presented with a question….
Did we have “THE” CLEAR momentum? If the answer is YES then the answer is Absolutely not.
If the answer is murky or just clearly NO, the the answer is YES! YES you pull your star players out and give the guys who desperately need reps even in garbage time in because it’s happened in EVERY SINGLE GAME SO FAR. WE HAVE LEFT EITHER AN ARM OR A LEG OR BOTH IN UNLESS GARBABAGE TIME LOSES!
SO WHICH WAS IT? WAS THE POSITIVE ENERGY FLOW GOING OUR WAY OR NOT?
There is your answer forever and ALWAYS!
How about our WONDERFUL DEFENSE?????? The ONLY REAS0N the Bucs were moving the ball late in the 4th is the Ravens were in a prevent defense. Their prevent works well.
Last I checked, this is still football. People wank about putting skirts on players and then turn around and complain because they played until the bitter end.
I’m really frustrated with Joe and this website; he’s become a constant complainer, just like many fans here. They criticize him whether he quits or keeps going. This Ravens team is a Super Bowl contender! They are potentially the best team in the league right now, and it’s unfortunate Godwin suffered an injury.
If they had kicked the field goal with a minute and a half left—assuming Godwin hadn’t gotten hurt—I believe they would have done that. They could have gotten another onside kick, scored again, and possibly won the game. It literally is down to a coin toss or 1 defensive stop in overtime.
Bowles is at least learning from past mistakes and making adjustments. Pretty sure we were all pissed for him not using timeouts in Detroit last year. That’s all we can ask for. He’s human, and people make mistakes. Playing hard until the end is not a mistake. Injuries happen IT SUCKS!! This was not Greg Schiano jumping the knell down this was a team having faith and believing they can win until the final whistle.
Playing to win is the essence of the game! You fight until the very end! If Bowles had benched the starters and cited that as an excuse, he’d be criticized for being too cautious on “going turtle.” While his conservative approach has been frustrating, seeing the team adopting a more aggressive stance, especially on offense, is refreshing. However, this aggression carries risks, like potential injuries late in the game or the chance of big plays if our corners play too tight instead of 10 yards off the ball.
Coaches concede games all the time. It’s smart football. The problem is there’s no forgiveness from a majority of this fanbase for Bowles. His decisions are questioned and scrutinized after every loss, mainly from people that haven’t liked him from day 1 as a head coach. Hell, I like Bowles, because I remember what our defense looked like when he wasn’t here, but I’m not sure how I feel about him right now.
I know what he’s trying to do as a def coordinator, and frankly it’s out of the Bruce Arians playbook of no risk-it, no-biscuit mindset. High risk, high reward playing. You apply as much pressure as possible; you play soft zone hoping for an errant throw, guys are more prepared for the INT. If you play it straight, without good enough talent, the other team moves the ball, owns the clock and kills you 10 yards at a time, still scores. When it works its brilliant, when it doesn’t work, it’s Falcons and the Ravens games, it’s embarrassing. It’s difficult when you simply don’t have the talent to consistently execute his scheme.
At the end of the day, players have to play, they have to make sure they know their assignments, and they have to tackle. Perhaps our undrafted players are being exposed, to include our late round ILB isn’t going to cut it in this type of defense and our GM really missed on lower draft picks like JTS and Hall when comes to needing consistent pass rushers. Perhaps there weren’t any better pass rushers available at those picks, so you’re picking next best available player instead. I dunno.
feel like a better poll would be with mike barely able to walk on the sideline after his first td catch and knowing the nature of hamstring injuries would you have pulled mike from the game

Cowards quit. You always play to win until the end of the game. Why use them at all then, they may get hurt on the first play of the game.
SMH…
October 22nd, 2024 at 7:29 am
No. If Todd Bowles did that then you’d be hammering him just like you did when Lovie Smith didn’t try to score before halftime.

This isn’t the right question. The Ravens win probability was 99.9% with 7 minutes to go up 23 points. That was when the decision needed to be made.

terrible coaching as usual

You don’t pull starters. You run the ball.
October 22nd, 2024 at 8:00 am
How many times have we seen Kyle Trask on the field??
They were up 17 against New Orleans with a minute something left
And they were still running up the score
This is not a one time thing, they always do it
But this time they paid the price for it
Padding stats is what they do
Trying to fool people that they are more than a 500 team
October 22nd, 2024 at 8:00 am
We’ll be 4-6 at the bye. Perfect time to fire a clueless empty shell of a man.
This must be the last straw otherwise we’re in store for two and a half more years of this putrid result.
If not for being in the gutter division known as the NFC South this guy would already be gone and the record would be way worse.
Bowles is a dumpster fire

I can’t blame Bowles for a 500 team that lack talent. The problem is most Bucs fans actually think this team is loaded with talent.
It’s all a mirage Bucs fans
October 22nd, 2024 at 8:11 am
Bowles sacrifices the season trying to win an unwinnable game. This is mismanagement at its finest.
October 22nd, 2024 at 8:13 am
You pull them when you’re down 41-18 with 6 minutes left. Incredibly stupid and season over. Bowles coaching career also ended last night.

We are weak on both lines. That falls on Licht. We need about 3 bigger better guys on OL and 2-3 on the DL.

Bucs media consistently acts like they know more about football than the head coach….
Hey, Joe, theres a reason you’re probably never played or coached a down of football in your life. STFU.
